You always expect to be surprised when dealing with alexng2208

Now he seems to be back to his old antics of quoting antt00 for third party replies....

wont the 6000mAh battery be slightly bigger size?
battery is always an issue and i think we should share our honest and broad expreience on bigger battery - usually means the third party ones..

stupid phone and smartphone now have a big arguement, who can survive longer?

Powerbank ler....

Of course there's the ZeroLemon 9300mAh battery for about USD 50. THAT is something no other phone can touch now whistling.gif

Some guy summarised a changelog for 4.3

https://plus.google.com/u/0/118289670350117...sts/ba4JXGotgSk

- The clock in the status bar is now hidden on the lock screen when you have the clock widget on screen, like in 4.1 (4.2 broke this)
- The camera now only rotates the icons rather than the WHOLE damn UI when you turn the phone, so that it doesn't disrupt the picture taking experience, like in 4.1 (4.2 broke this as well).
- You can now take photos using volume keys in the Camera app.
- The Nexus 4 touchscreen now responds to MUCH lighter touches. This means that typing (esp. gesture typing) is now much much nicer.
- The dialer now has a T9 optional feature that can be enabled, so typing "366" will bring up all your contacts called "Dom" (like HTC Sense)
- Animations are definitely smoother. While not at Windows Phone or iOS levels just yet, the whole OS is much snappier.
- Google Keep is now a system app
- Many new Developer Options for optimising apps to 60FPS.
- Hidden Notification history in the settings.
- Bluetooth Low Energy support, and ability to stream song metadata over Bluetooth
- Possibly improved battery life: I noticed a 10% drain after 40 mins (screen on) of reddit/chrome/Google+ etc. That might have lasted 20-30mins before. I'll have to do some objective tests later.
- Possible WiFi, Bluetooth and Mobile Data fixes. I haven't experienced any of the quirky behavior that requires a reboot that was all too quirky in 4.2

EDIT M0ar:

- Dialer can now add pauses/waits
- The phone can now scan for WiFi based location info even when WiFi is off
- Notifications not immediately coming in over WiFi with the screen off has NOT been fixed. We have to wait for the new Radio for that

Anyway good news..

Nobody has 5.0 yet, not even Google. But if it comes, the rumor is that it should fly coz it's optimised for devices with less than 1Gb RAM, like Google Glass. Perhaps a flavor of those pico linuxes.

Hi, I'm using an unrooted device, is it possible to disable software update notification on my note2?

For the past 2 times updated my phone I have to send to to the service centre afterwards because my phone can't detect my sim card. The person in the service centre have asked me not to update my device on my own because of that (sounds ridiculous, have to send to samsung to update whenever an update came out ?!). She told me she had disable auto update on my phone and what not.

Just 2 days after getting back my phone from the service centre, the notification came back again and I did not click anything. The "auto update" upadate option was not checked. I don't want to postpone the update every 3 hours!
I've been using this phone for less than a month so far I've been super disappointed with this phone because of this stupid issue. cry.gif
*
Welcome but you pose a strange question as Xirality has said. Maybe those who auto update their phones can shed some light.

solsekuin44 request yr help to advise this note2 owner thanks.

Any others may also chip in.

Wow I'm having exactly the same issue now. For some reason the phone downloaded the software update on its own (about 105.71MB in size) even though auto-update was disabled. Now I have this update notification constantly appearing on my phone asking me to install this 105.71MB update. I have seen cases here where after updates, the owners can't make any calls or experiencing IMEI issues hence I always delay the installation. I tried restarting the phone but it doesn't helped.

and janicekys

I suppose you can try disabling Software Update itself to kill the notification:

Settings>App Manager> All> Software Update> uncheck Show Notifications.

Some say the note 3 is like s3 to s4, nothing major. You can buy a note2 now arnd 1500 vs note3 which may be 2.3k.

It is like the pc now. A pc from 5 yrs ago still does the same things that you do today.

Of course people want the new shiny and they are free to spend their own money.

The word is *worth* not worthy. Entirely different meanings.

Hi all,

Went for the second Huawei User Group (HUG) session today. Nice location. With the current consumer device focus, we can likely expect some nice stuff from them. I'm a little compelled by the Ascend Mate. I compared the screen a bit more closely with the Note2.

The Mate does show whiter whites, and the same screen on the Note 2 has a yellowish tint....

Choices, choices and opportunity costs......

Hi all,

I've been missing from thread for quite long time..now wanted to flash custom ROM to try..

Any Samsung based custom ROM you all recommend? and what kernel should I try?

I prefer a more features, performance and a little of battery saving ROM + kernel..

You were the one who reported some strange problem with your unit and went for a replacement right?

You may check Post 7 for the link to the XDA index thread.

there was a comparison review from a certain website about a month ago, where a  certain Huawei device was deemed to have the best scree, beating the HTC one and LG Optimus G Pro!! was really surprised with the results.

I'm kinda liking the looks and the price of the P6, was thinking of recommending it instead of the amazing Xperia SP for people with slightly less than flagship budget, but the K3V2 isn't convincing. Btw, just what happened to the K3V3?
*
K3V3 under development I suppose. The main issue they face is lack of dev awareness for now. Perhaps with the P6 as a "hero" phone they will get that awareness.

Meanwhile.......Exynos sources and documentation are still not released. It could be better to get a Qualcomm based device this time. tongue.gif

Huawei just released the kernel sources for the Ascend Mate ..... perhaps now K3V2 development will pick up steam. I wonder if Samsung will source a Huawei processor? hmm.gif
