STAR TRADERS RPG ELITE beats ELITE.
seriously. and beats galaxy on fire as well. its much much more complicated with faction politics etc.
oh and roguelikes usually do not have storylines. its not meant to. storyline = u must finish the game. roguelike characteristics = PERMA DEATH. so if u have story line how can u have permadeath lol. u will never finish the storyline.
so roguelike = no story = PERMA DEATH
Galaxy on fire 2 has faction politics and a sufficiently interesting storyline what with the D cup floating brassiere at the final cut scene... STAR TRADERS RPG ELITE beats ELITE.

Haven't played star traders but it's lacking in the graphics department. One of the later Elite versions actually had full 3d rendered landable terrain during the era of the 286.
Spoiled for graphics where games are concerned. Perhaps I shall dip into star traders. There was something similar during the days of the Palm Pilot.
