Definitely worth it. Still cheaper than M2 too.

for 240gb-256gb capacity, liteon s900 and transcend ssd370 are good buys now. actually if you checked the tbw of transcend ssd370 256gb, it has a 280tb of endurance rating. (samsung 850 pro has a 10-year warranty, but the endurance rating is just 150tb regardless of capacity)

for relatively better and proven durability, the choices are actually pretty much narrowed down to performance consumer drives. the tested ones are samsung 840 pro and kingston hyperx 3k. another option might be intel 730.

Where's the Crucial MX100? hmm.gif

Also, do you know what's the flash memory used in the Transcend drive? There's not much information right now, and the quality of flash memory is crucial (no pun intended) for the longevity of SSDs. hmm.gif

IMO, my choice would be the Crucial MX100. icon_idea.gif

BTW, LiteOn and Plextor have a loose relationship - I think Plextor drives are made by LiteOn... hmm.gif

About the bolded part - is this already proven by reviewers, or is this an estimate by the manufacturer? hmm.gif

It is stated in spec sheet. I read it on anandtech review. They also recommend transcend 370 over mx100, unless you want low power consumption.

hmm.gif Micron NAND... It should be OK for most usage... icon_idea.gif

the endurance rating by manufacturer for crucial mx100 is 72tb. about the bolded part, they are all estimates by manufacturers, not reviewers. (maybe it's hard and not practical to establish one. it takes time to do all these endurance testings. also, by the time the results are out, new models already come out, new die, new tech and all, and the ones in the tests are long phased out) however imo this information is useful because it's the guarantee by manufacturers themselves, which is tied to warranty.

i think it's better to dig deeper for details of nand flash memory if you wanna know more. such information should be available somewhere. however, longevity is linked directly to usage. all we know is that for general use, it will last for quite some years (for 128gb with proper OP and optimizations, 7 years plus?).
that's not considered a damage if you really need that much of performance. the damage from m.2 options is worse lol

OK, thanks for your informative post. You are pretty experienced in SSDs, eh? brows.gif brows.gif

Hey guys, I've made some research on my own and I made a list.
1. Samsung 840 EVO 120GB
2. Crucial M550 128GB
3. Intel 530 Series 120GB

For these three items above, which are the best? Or you guys have any other better options please let me know. smile.gif

Scrap the first one off... The drive has a yet to be fixed read speed bug (even though a fix by Samsung is applied).... sweat.gif
Though my 840 EVOs have yet to see any slowdowns... sweat.gif

The Intel 530 would be my choice, or if you really have the cash to burn, the 840 PRO/850 EVO would be my choice. icon_idea.gif

IINM, there's a LiteOn SSD sold here, which costs around RM380 - It's essentially a rebadged Plextor M5P. icon_idea.gif

I see, i was actually planning to buy the transcend ssd around rm3xx also.

So this rebadge plextor is better?

IMO, Plextor/LiteOn drives are pretty reliable, as they are frequently used in laptops. icon_idea.gif

never ending fix just like exynos. avoid samsung!

Exynos have problems? I don't think it have problems - except for the sources, which is irrelevant for most users. sweat.gif

Still, Samsung SSDs are one of the best - if not the best SSDs you could buy. icon_idea.gif
