haha still thinking, probably not going to give a fark & just get a plextor la. Fark this issue laugh.gif Chances of SSD failing is slim though right? Will benchmark it & run for 1 month before modding? That should give enough time to test if it will fail or not hmm.gif
*
Yea, SSD failure rate still lower than HDD. As they are resist to vibration.

Anybody bought from him before?
The cheapest 128gb M5S in lowyat I guess? flex.gif
Reliable seller? Very tempting. brows.gif
*
Haven't deal with him so far, but from what i have read he got mostly positive ones.
Not sure if he's offering cheapest price, u can always ask other seller or surf lelong/ipmart website for price comparison.

Hello, as I am going to install SSD into my ASUS lappy, few questions here.

1. The installation of SSD will void the warranty of my laptop?
2. If I change the DVD slot into my HDD, will it void my warranty too? And is it recommended to do so or just change the HDD to SSD and HDD become external hard disk?
3. Is there any converter that available for my DVD so I can use it as external?

Thanks for helping.
*
I think wont void the warranty if the opening points/screws are not covered by warranty stickers.
Try ask storm88 , he got more experience regarding this.

yea liteon, yesterday was typing on a phone while sleepy.
Saw it in LYN, 128GB which is sufficient for my windows, hackintosh on other partition.
128GB is 250 on LYN>..
*
RM250 is ok by considering its older series/batch ssd.

hi guys.. planning to buy SSD.. but dunno what brand to buy.. any recommendation?

Crucial M500, Plextor M5S, Seagate 600 series are pretty good for price/performance models.
Depends on your usage and capacity needed.

Just bought a Plextor mSATA SSD but it doesn't come with the small screws to secure the card after plug into the mSATA port. The seller said it normally comes with the laptop. Is it true?

Can I just assemble the mSATA SSD without securing it with screws?
*
Aren't the laptop msata installation just similar ram ? it should have some sort of clip to secure it for where it was inserted.

hey guys looking for a 120/28gb ssd. Im looking for stability and reliability. Is the speed on paper not much difference in real world usage? I'm looking at Samasung 840, Crucial m4 and Plextor M5s.
May I know which is the best choice?
*
Yup, there's not much difference you can feel in real world performance in normal usage.
Crucial M4 is older series, get Crucial M500 instead.
The other models u listed are all ok.

Corsair brand is overprice in most models.
Samsung EVO is better, but warranty not being covered locally.

Why isn't the warranty covered here <why.jpeg> What's your suggestion? I wanted to take Samsung because got some people said that Samsung's SSD is reliable among the best hmm.gif
*
Because there's no distributor bring in the samsung ssd, anything DOA or defect after months u can only send back to where u buy.
The shipping cost and time is u to bear most likely, and how much it will be? depends on location and how dealer deal with u . My suggestion as stated in previous post.

Samsung for its brand and reliability
plextor for its warranty.
corsair, no advantages.
*
Lol this explanation is a little weird, Corsair do have good SSD such Neutron GTX series. As for price, its just slightly higher or similar as other brand's high performance ssd.

Saw an announcement from a reseller regarding Samsung SSD.
Samsung 840 Evo 120gb RM375, 250gb RM610.
This is very competitive price with its performance imo.

However, still on pending for the warranty issue. Will update as soon as I got the reply smile.gif .

Just want to ask , do you guys get random blue screen after using SSD? I've been getting it a lot "randomly" after upgrading to SSD. Didn't have it with my previous HDD.

I know it's probably not hardware cause I only upgraded the SSD.
Probably not software because it can hang even just at idle.

Using Corsair if i'm not mistaken.
*
The random freeze / "stuck" happens to my Force 3 previously. But after some tweaking by referring to the guide as first page no prob afterward.
Blue screen might be your graphic driver not updated? Try update may solve also.
Your SSD is what model ?

More competition and more choices are always good  rclxms.gif

hmm 5mm, kinda meant to target for slim ultrabook as an upgrade option?
Yea, more competitive products and hopes they throwing price to benefit us tongue.gif .
Somehow the trends now more toward tablet pc with win8.
And pcie/msata ssd are typically much smaller than regular ssd and being used widely in tablets/ultrabook/laptops although regular ssd now became slimmer hmm.gif .
Lets hope better performance from Plextor M6, not just slim icon_idea.gif .
