Hi
My friend just bought NB520
However, he didn't like Win7 Starter which has been pre-loaded with this netbook
Try to re-install Win7 Pro via pendrive, however, didn't find an option to boot from USB in the BIOS
This netbook also didn't has DVDROM
How to solve this ?
Thx...

Your friend bought a netbook, not a notebook.

Netbook is low end laptop with a slower CPU (usually is Intel's Atom processor)

Netbook is a slow machine so it is better to be run on Windows 7 Starter which is less feature and run smoother or faster.

More about "Netbook", read here :-

p/s just my 2 cents

What application or software that he has problem to install?

Netbook can't run graphic intense games and it also can't run program such as Photoshop and Autocad.

Netbook is mean for lightweight work like Microsoft Office works and Internet surfing.

It's the BIOS version

Can you double check BIOS v1.90 is installed? Have a look in the BIOS.

I believe 1.90 fixes a problem with USB Booting in v1.70

If you do actually have 1.90 installed, try a BIOS Reset. (Go into the BIOS and press the key that sets defaults. It's F9 I think. Then save and exit.)

Try this too
Power off. Plug-in your USB device. Power on. When the Toshiba splashscreen pops up (right after hitting the power button) hit F12. Now when the boot screen comes up the USB device should be listed.

Bios change shouldn't be needed (actually no option there for USB) but device must be plugged in at power on.

adding my 2 cents, the n2600 dual core has enough grunt to run any windows version including win 8 pro, just make sure there's at least 2gb RAM and 4GB if doing heavy surfing + multitasking

my 1000he boots into win 8 desktop in 10 seconds and opens up IE 10 in 1-2 sec

netbooks are still suitable for light applications and surfing, but not much for Photoshop, gaming and HD videos
