thanks 62jaguar

found some just now in a kedai runcit far away from my house during work lunch break.

anyway the tauke says zippo lighter fluid not in demand nowadays, so rarely sell them.

my concern now is what if i finished these 2 cans and couldn't find them anymore. was wondering if anyone has any alternative suggestions that's guaranteed long term available and easily accessible one.

dear master builders, need some experienced advice on the following.

this is a HG 1/144 Tieren Taozi Space Type from the anime Gundam 00

I've almost completed this build but got stuck with the legs...

Attached Image

this fuel tank comes in grey colour and in 2 pieces, it "wraps" itself around the lower leg which is in a different colour

Attached Image

i've chosen purple colour for this kit, now that the leg has been painted, it's difficult to work with the fuel tank's seams and then painting in grey

Attached Image

the 2 red circles shows where the fuel tank needs to be painted as purple as well

Attached Image

this is the thigh with the ankle joint already painted in gun metal, the shape of the joint is in weird shape very difficult to mask.

how would experts/sifus do these 2 parts? the entire kit is already painted and sitting in a box waiting for its legs for a month.

i stare at it everyday feeling lost cry.gif in fact i started another kit MG 1/100 Deathscythe and it's almost done as well.

help...

morning khai62, thanks for the input.

the mod in the video is great for shoulders and ankle armour. i did it for my zeta and deathscythe.

however this trick doesn't work for this 1/144 tieren taozi. the fuel tank literally wraps around the lower leg, while the thigh "pokes" through the knee joint.

Can you guys recommend a good paint for this guy's cape? Some guys told me to use acrylic paint and just spray the thing. Would hand brushing the thing work as well? Do I have to coat it with anything before painting or just start off and let it dry

is the cape made of textile/cloth? if yes, any paint will color it but it will harden and flake when moved. If you want, you can experiment with dye. What color you want it to be?

I am guessing he wants it to be red (I think that was the color of Spawn's cape in the comics)

Hi guys, there seems to be a lack of mainstream+quality airbrush compressors being sold locally... stuff like Iwata, Tamiya etc.
I am looking for a compressor (and willing to spend around 600-800) that is from a reputable brand. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

A lot of the stuff on lelong, mudah etc. are China brandless ones, which kinda scares me a bit. (I'd rather pay 800 for a reputable brand than 400 for a brandless)

After a lot of seaching, I finally found that link you shared. The Sparmax TC-610H seems like the best choice for me. smile.gif Thanks for sharing anyway. biggrin.gif

There is also this: http://mgs2u.com/shop/browse.php?mode=c&s=...8&prrfnbr=10506 which LOOKS like a good model. Asking the seller about its reliability and warranty.

I think so, yeah. So most of the paints used will flake in due time? I want it to be a dark red, maroon almost.
What dyes can I use? Any brand in particular?

Hi guys, noob at Gundam building, since no 1st page/post for FAQ or sort, I would like to fire off some basic question.

I had a MG Strike Freedom build, not quite satisfied as the finishing wasnt as good as custom build Strike Freedom I saw in toy shop ( of coz duh ), after many months I bought the RG Freedom ( kinda Seed/Seed Destiny fans only ) wish to build it as good as I'm capable. Perfect cutout, smooth surface, basic line drawn etc.

So I'm looking at basic tool kit ( cutter, tweezers, knife etc ), would like to ask are those enough for starter ? Any tools I might/should need ?

Borrow one of the pics from thread that sells tool kit biggrin.gif

Would like to master this first, then only start considering paint or even air brush sweat.gif , either on rebuild MG Strike Freedom or getting future PG Strike Freedom drool.gif

For absolute minimum, you only really need plastic cutter, hobby knife and panel line pen, everything else is optional. My personal setup would be plastic cutter and file instead of knife since i just lousy at cutting nub with it plus the risk of injury.

dear all, i've gave up on the masking process, used hand to brush the fuel tanks. result was diabolical. it has a very rough finish no matter what i do with it, i think the bottle of grey has aged for too long. it keeps turning into bits and bops of solid paint pigments on the mixing tray, and when i add more thinner to dilute the solid pigments the paint is too light when applied. just couldn't get a consistent smooth stroke. got fed up and just painted it anyways. i've brushed at least 10 layers on it before i called it quits, took me 2 days. vmad.gif

Attached Image

anyone has similar experience with really old bottle of paints? how long can we keep them. i only use tamiya acrylics.

also didn't mix enough purple for the entire kit, couldn't get the right mix for the second batch hence there are different shades of purple on the legs.

disappointed with the end result... sad.gif

Well.... have you tried micro masking? Like how they do it for resin kits. You cut itty bitty square pieces of masking tape and then patiently stick em. Most ppl do it for the Sinanju Emblem but patience is a must. Old bottle paints... acrylic...pour acrylic thinner shake and wait and then stir. Your project can be salvaged still...just use some windex to remove the acrylic.
