CK Music carries the AD-series amp
AD30 prolly costs 1.2k now, but thats just probably, i have no idea how much it really costs, check the music shop thread for CK Music's number and look for abang syahril laugh.gif probably can give u a better price =)

as for tube changing, it won't die so quickly so don't worry
but a good preamp tube would cost roughly 70-120 bucks depending wat brand of tube and where you get it [some places are blatant ripoffs]

mine is made in vietnam
don't know bout the newer ones

ermm... Im a proud vox ad30vt owner  biggrin.gif

On changing tube yourself, I would reckon that you can change it yourself. (Ive never done it before though  blush.gif ). How much? ermm donno. Im in KKinabalu so I would not know. But if I were you, I would check with nik of ceriatone or with bentley music in KL.

changing tubes so quickly? better to get someone who is experienced to do the change, since this involves many things like biasing and stuff like that.

clicky
Heres an article about how to bias and basically what biasing affects in the amp. Truth be told, I'm not sure whether this is relevant or not since our amp is using a preamp tube in the power amp section. Assuming it works like how it should, this should play a role.

Anyway, I'm not very well versed in tube and how amps work, there are people who are better versed than me, so google for more info.

Final note, threadstarted is having finals now. Cut him some slack for the time being. =D

Hope it helps dooooood XD

Thanks alot... anybody can help?

I'm curious about the cables. How does it look like originally? I wonder if those 3-pin plug cables which we use for kettles and PCs would work.
*
From the pins, it looks the same, but I haven't tried it yet. Need to go find the cable first lol.

opps.. biggrin.gif hehe..forget to mention..with drummer, vocalist, guitarist, bassit and the full band
*
ah
then that changes things completely
if your drummer really pummels it, the 30 watter may not have enough juice to cut in the mix
the 50 has plenty of juice tho

Cables carrying higher amperage rating won't melt when high current flows through it. If the device the cable is connected to, has a higher current requirement, it might melt the cable.

Now...did anyone mod the grill?? Cause seriously i myself think the pathfinder series cloth grills are sexy and would look better on the AD series amp...the ori one looks so "unvintage" LOL ...Would it cost a bomb to do that??
*
Nah it isn't an expensive mod. TBH, I've always wanted to make the metal grill into a clothe grill, to make it look more vintage. There was an online Vox forum that had a tutorial or was it pictorial for the mod. I'll try to dig see whether I can find it. =D

Actually i used to have another VOX AD30..Sold it not a while ago during times of desparation...LOL...Anyway i another one because the AC0TB set in high gain low volume sound has so much of that vintage uk tone...

Anyway, i had been crazy to fool around with cloth grill..found that it was too expensive (about Rm100++) to upgrade that and need to ship from USA somemore...I stumbled upon some cross stiching cloth when accompanying my gf to the shop and walla...

Hey i know its not so original like the Vox AC30...but for me its much better than the cold hard shiny grill...furthermore its only Rm5 ...and i do think brown colour cloth would be a better idea...
*
Some people actually DIY the grill, using brown clothe and stitching the crisscrossing pattern on it. Looks a lot like a vintage Vox.
Nice mod btw.

i remember someone asked for some soundclips

just recorded some in the past hour
will upload it after dinner

i'm not very good so please pardon the many many mistakes

http://download.yousendit.com/6012891B3E9995F7
cover of gary moore's song, one day
recorded using the uk 70's [plexi] modeller boosted by a digitech bad monkey overdrive pedal through an epiphone les paul

http://download.yousendit.com/E69ABD4137416DA6
cover of gary moore's song, still got the blues
recorded using the uk80's [jcm800] modeller boosted by a boss sd-1 overdrive pedal through an epiphone les paul

http://download.yousendit.com/06122B8505246AE6
the intro is from poets of the fall - late goodbye, the rest is just some random plucking and strumming
recorded using the blackface model [fender blackface] through an epiphone les paul

http://download.yousendit.com/156C156B5FB6905B
old clip recorded quite awhile back, a cover of stone temple pilots' interstate love song
recorded using the numetal model [i think its supposed to be a dual rectifier but it's missing the low end quite abit] straight to amp from an epiphone les paul
gains maxed, a little unsuitable for the song so bear with it plz ><

VTX is the bigger brother of the VT IIRC.
Think the Vox tonelab SE built into a combo amp =p

Well considering the preamp tube is in the poweramp section I think the life span is quite good.
JJ tubes 12ax7 I heard it is warmer and has slightly more gain.
