Anyway nice tonelar, you do get some nice metal tones out of the Vox, I can't seem to get such brutal tone! Was the SD-1 being used?

    I thought the Dumble amp has a great blues rock tone.

Yeah, the Behringer Blues OD is a good pedal for boosting.

I did an A/B with the SD-1 and Blues Driver and I much prefer the Blues Drive... not sure how it fares as a booster lar, but the sound's definitely warmer and packs more gain (To my ears).

I don't know... I just don't notice the effect on my old SS amp lol... Then again, it shows that the Vox is transparent... maybe...

Change strings? I just changed mine! And just after few hours of playing it turned black!!! Anyway, I notice that the Ernie Ball strings turn black faster than D'Addario, so I think I'm gonna stick to that... it's so hard to get gauge 11 strings.

call me dr scrooge or what, but i use olympia strings. the 10 bucks per pack at guitar collection. and they come with extra 1st and 2nd strings. how nice.

I can't give you much advice dude... I think that's the latest price atm... I feel sorry for you lol... I got the AD50VT for RM1050 last year during their year end sale, try to use that to bargain with them, if they're still hard-headed... oh well, pray that there's another year-end sale this year.

It sounds waaaaaaaay too sharp. There's no way of adjusting it. Trying to get Tom Morello's sound.... almost impossible. In fact, alot of people in the Tonelab Forums also can't get that sound.
Actually...... my Zoom GFX-5 Pitch Shifter sounded better!

EDIT: I found out why. It doesn't have "intelligent" pitch shifting...... meaning that it tracks along with your playing and harmonizes with the notes diatonically (within the scale/key)

Anyone who has an AD30VT/AD50VT may have thought at one point in time that it was seriously lacking one particular important feature - an effects loop.

In the pictures above, see the two chrome jacks on top of the line out and speaker out? That's the FX loop I just added The jack above the line out is FX Send and the jack above the speaker out is the FX Return. The FX Send comes out directly from the preamp while the FX Return goes back into the Valvereactor poweramp circuit.

I now plug my Zoom G9.2tt modeler directly into the FX return to bypass the Vox Preamp to avoid any additional coloration (instead of plugging the modeller into the front of the amp where the guitar is normally plugged in). This is a much better way to use a modeler IMO and works briliantly for me. The Zoom models the preamp while the Vox models the poweramp

Anyways, I got the mod instructions from one of the guys over at patchtronix. Here's the link to the forum. The proper link to download instructions can be found on the 2nd page.

The instructions are for the AD30VT, but it also works on the AD50VT too. I highly recommend that any of you who's got a bit of the DIY spirit and desperately been wanting an FX loop in your AD30VT/AD50VT to give this a try. Do read the instructions thoroughly before attempting this mod as you could seriously damage your amp. Get all the necessary parts and tools before starting.
