I seriously think that you folks focused too much on the dividends issue.
Dividends in reality is just bonus given to the shareholders from THE PROFITS of the company.
It's just a bonus.
If you focus too much on the 'bonus', I feel that one loses objectivity and you know very well that any company can just give out bonus (dividends) without having good profits ( they can just borrow) and such bonus is usually not sustainable.

Was it a the dividends that is crucial factor that drove the stock so high?

When I made much noises about Panamy when it was around 22++, what was one factor I mentioned?
It then fell to 19.80++.
It started climbing since then. What changed?

Was PROFITS a factor?

If you look at the bells in Panamy chart, last year dividends were 'special'.

The first one. Stock moved higher initially after the dividends were paid but soon after, it did the unthinkable. It made a huge correction.
Second one. Stock started marching to where it is today.

Think of the impact if one bought/sell on dividend news or if one bought/sell just for dividends only.

You need to ask yourself if you are punting on the ipo based on IPO day or you think the IPO price is super cheap that you want to be a long term investor.

Most nowadays subscribe to the IPO because they are only punting for a good IPO performance day.

Padini was once a hot favourite. Backed by a strong growth story, you could see the extreme strong movement in the chart till end Aug 2012.
The earnings reported by Padini end Aug was terrible. Earnings declined like hell.
Was this a signal that perhaps the end of the growth story?
Would stores like Uniqlo eat into their future earnings.

With such a bad earnings, Padini corrected strongly.

As you can see that the end Aug/Sep correction had ended and the stock was trying to find its feet again (mixed feeling about this as the earnings are rather week compared the previous year).
It had a superb run in May until taper June send the stock crumbling down once again.
Despite the heavy June correction, TA would be happy to point out that the stock appears to have found a higher low of 1.84 and that higher bottoms can be seen since end Dec.
Could 1.84 be considered as a new found bottom?
If that is the case would you want to put a wager on this stock?

My thinking is simple.
I think of myself as owning a business. My business is to make money from the stock market.
My inventory is the 'shares' I buy from the stock market.
Inventory management is extremely important.
It is utmost important I do not own inventory that depreciates in time.
And because it is very possible that I might purchase poor inventory or inventory that I feel has poor future outlook, I try to trade (sell) off these inventory to avoid further losses.

Trading and investing? Mana ada difference?
My one sen view, which could be wrong, is that there are not much of a difference.
Investors still buy and sell shares and this for me, is trading.
Of course, there are many who makes bad purchases.
Somehow they think that time could rectify their mistakes.

Of course, then there are punters.
Punters who just gambles on hot stocks, hoping their punt rake in thousands by the hour.

If you want to be in this game, just know what you are good at and not what other recommend is good for you.

Obviously you know this one is case of a flying wok.

Fundamentally this company is at a 'cheap' price cos it is lousy but then...as you have stated low inventory.

I think game just started, so exciting times is expected..
But do expect some shake and rattle to shake off leachers.
