I am also new user I9505 since middle July.

Facing the same problem. Going mad a few days and disable all S4 functions. But the problem remain.

As suggested by the former, install Wakelock Detector.
Found out that one apps wake the phone up about 200 times in only about 10 hours.

Uninstall and now the battery awesome.  thumbup.gif

That is a different issue. He is referring to battery drop 1% every few mins when in use. To me that is normal, even when I was using iphone with 3g browsing. I also depends on the telco signal strength.

Hi Guys,

I just got my I9505 2 weeks ago.

Anyone here experiencing battery drain of 1% every 2 - 3 minutes when using 3g/4g to surf facebook or websites?
Yes, it's quite normal. Using 3G/4G for surfing drains the battery quickly. I've used a variety of smartphones and the drain can be as high as 1% every 1.5 mins. I don't think 1% every 2-3 mins on 3G surfing is abnormal. On WiFi the drain will be much slower.

Hi Guys,

I just got my I9505 2 weeks ago.

Anyone here experiencing battery drain of 1% every 2 - 3 minutes when using 3g/4g to surf facebook or websites?

I'm currently still running on stock ROM, no root or any nonsense yet. I've brought the phone to Samsung, and they told me it's completely normal; they've also replaced the battery for me saying that this should fix the problem.

I just want to know if any other I9505 users are facing this problem; I can see that in Malaysia, most people are using the I9500 Octa - So I can't have a proper benchmark.

I'm looking at screen on time of 1 - 3 hours max; could this be caused by a defective unit, or could this be caused by a poorly optimized firmware?

I've used a HTC One for a few days, and I do not see the same problems, battery seems to last longer on that device though they're both running on similar chipsets, minus the fact the One is clocked at 1.7Ghz

Thanks smile.gif

based on ur complain, u seem like a perfectionist .... or u never use high end smartphone before....ever since HTC Desire HD era , this is normal ..... 3g is draining the battery faster...and WiFi is slower....this is common....

and if u hope for SOT of 5hours , get a nokia 1100....smile.gif

stand by time is about 7days as well....

u r expected to charge ur battery 2x a day if u on 3g from 8am to 6pm....or more than 2x ...sometime i charge 3x due to heavy usage....

@One Buck, 666devil & ginny88.

Thanks for your comments; much appreciated.

@steventan85

Doesn't seem like a very nice way to reply a simple notion; I've had the S2, Note and S3.

I think it's best not to jump into conclusions before truly understanding what the query is; and note, there is a difference between a complain and a query. I am merely querying why this is happening, as technology should improve, not remain the same.

But thanks for your recommendation, it will be duly considered.

In my exprienced with S4, battery will drain fast if not in power saver mode. If power saver mode on i manage using my S4 for whole day but if not in power saver mode normally only can last 5-7 hours with 3G on.

just off all the air features and off gps, lower down screen brightness, then s4 should be able to last longer.

The simple fact is this.. if you have battery issues, root your phone and use a custom rom that removes alot of bloatware. It should help during the standby time. I am using crash 5.1 on my i9500.

2, you could also install a custom kernal like Perseuse and UV, slowly yet surely you will gain more battery life. It just takes a long time to find the best settings for your phone

3. You could just not use 3g/2g when you are at the office etc.. that might help, maybe.

I concur that is also true for my ipad HD. Use wifi battery drop 1% maybe every 3 mins. But use 3g definitely every 1-2 min drop 1%
I dunno how come u get better result in htc one, but most reviews out there reports s4 beats htc one battery duration...
Maybe u r n an area with too frequent signal switching(2g/3g borders) , or too weak signal. Worse still if using digi whistling.gif

Ermmm.. no one has any idea as in why my screen delays 1-2 secs every time after I press home or on/off button to on the screen when it's in standby? I have already factory reset and the problem still persists..

those with i9505 LTE, what's the best modem so far? I'm encountering signal drops once in a while which is getting on my nerves..

is it possible that my non-LTE simcard is the contributing factor to this issue? it's a normal sim card that was cut to micro sim by the way..
