Ye boh..as stated, it is rare opportunity especially for malaysian. They have one rig here but the placement will be on their rig in Brunei. Maybe something to show to petronas for next coming rig contracts or extension...

yoo long time no see every one here...or rather long time no wifi/cable connection at the rig biggrin.gif

this might sound stupid, but why does a mopu sway like a boat(not as much but very minute ). being the first time being near to a mopu in my fledgling drilling career it kinda startled me since it had all 3 legs preloaded. hmm.gif

Hello azraeil, my diploma was in mechanical engineering.Recently UTP has opened for registration but they do not offer petroleum engineering and only offer petroleum geoscience.I was in doubt whether is this a good bet or not as it's a very niche area.I am afraid that it would be difficult to get a job in future. In this situation, what would be your advise to me ? sad.gif

word of mouth, utp alone, gets you noticed for interviews compared to others. true story this. BUT at the interview itself, its up to you la, no amount of name can do the magic. unless its a bigg conductor 36" like cable. tongue.gif

fuu salary, isu sensitip as the oil, sugar, salt, chicken , roti canai price in m'sia.

for one, you will have the chance to inquire about it in the interview itself. and if youre an experience bloke in ong you wont be asking here for sure and you know well where you are and what you will seek.

ask here banyak2 pon for sure no one will tell heir salary, heck i pon x bg tau what i make. but will tell this, when i started i did make alittle, now ada la improvement biggrin.gif

ok ah. my last job have to insp the welds on some pipelines.
in order to get to the welds, the insulation needs to be removed, scaffold needs to be ready.

and the client marah2 the inspection team why cant do it yet?
and i showed the isometric, they cant even locate where the scaffold and insulation removal should be.

you see? they are the one who should handle this kind of preparations. they should ask the scaffold guys and insulator guys to get it done. they dont even know what are they supposed to do.

i am the one who traced the welds and report to their boss. its like im doing their job. and yet they ask stupid questions over and over again.  doh.gif
*
sabo sabo. a company man once said, "asking stupid questions is better the making stupid mistakes"

anggap saja la pengajaran dan pengalaman. those foreigners alos same only, come here ,lansi, go to their place work also lansi.my pt is every race, nationality, ralted tongue.gif

this cgpa, gpa talk is demoralising mon.

lets focus on the hard work, sweat and mud. nothing is easy, even you need to "suap nasi ke dlm mulut" to feed yourself. it wont just simply hover and feed you.

not saying those with low cgpa cant secure a job neither does the higher ones. a lot of advices were given here by the old timers in diversifying your chance and tactics to secure a job; focus on that and less on the cgpa/gpa stuff.

in other news Pan M'sia contract results are just around the corner biggrin.gif i wonder who got what. been hearing allsorts of news on it. brows.gif

Rule of thumb is to not stay for more than 2 years doing mudlogging. Because there's not much you can learn anymore after 2 years. With 2 years experience, other companies will also start looking at your CV differently. Try as best as you can, bear with it and gain as much experience and hopefully people will be able to see your worth

Good Luck.

bro would you say the same about drilling/completion?? the 2 years period, does it apply. going to reach that landmark soon and was thinking of braching on to another subsection of the drilling/completion then the one im currently in.

Weather ok bro?

yo bro, weather was ok the first few days i was there, then fuhhh the monsoon full blast. winds up to 30ish knots i think. and the seas...very big waves. that coupled with intense raining non stop. all that was still going on till yesterday, tho the rain stopped and the sun just peeked a bit, winds was still strong.

when you think youre going back, to land, what you get...more water...ayak. rclxub.gif

the worst monsoon to date according to pantai timur residents.

So far with 4 companies, there are no blood test for pre employment medical checkup. Only urine test. Drug test analysis. Blood test only for bosiet. I'm not sure if some companies include blood tesr for pre employment too.
