QUOTE(vanc3 @ Mar 25 2014, 09:07 PM) you should be the one to answer that question. the key thing is to know which area of engineering that your interest lies that you want to specialise in.

Heard that the topside tilted and started to slide towards starboard.
Stoppers and grounded prevented the vessel from capsize. Near disaster. That's a near 1billion USD worth of asset precariously titling on the vessel.
Some heads will roll. Another significant incident at the same biggest fabrication yard in the country.

QUOTE(abgkik @ Mar 28 2014, 09:48 AM) aiyoo... saperlah yang buat stability calculation nie.. MMHE? Need to ballast all the way if maintain the current condition.. the topside 'skidded' unexpectedly while on the vessel. guilty party could be the humble TEFLON on the skid beams. ballasting couldn't counter the weight in time (due to faulty pump or something else still under investigation). i wonder whether they forgot to consider this accidental scenario. I am new in this field..thank you they could ask you how many types of steel used in the industry and the design codes used in oil & gas. you should ask them back what role you will take in an integrated well services company as a structural engineer. QUOTE(Y.J.S @ Apr 19 2014, 10:22 PM) Shouldn't everyone that works in O&G do like that too? I don't believe none of you never did that before. You are either naive or dumb.

QUOTE(jimbet1337 @ May 4 2014, 09:39 PM) Speaking about consultant.. Leighton Offshore, OPE & Ranhill Worley are laying off their staff due to corporate acquisition/restructuring & no new projects awarded. Feel bad for those affected. Too bad RWorley had to scale back its size due to its inability to secure projects in recent years. As for Leighton Offshore and OPE, I've always wondered why they would want to operate in Msia in an already crowded O&G engineering field.
