Thats my question! lol.

If i do not need to attedn the course then I will skip it. Not sure if that is the requirement for marry in church.

I think thats the difference between catholic and christian they haf different rules some need to do some no need

Catholic must attend the course to get married in church.
Don't worry, the course is very modern and not really teaching about religion. It is like marriage preparation for couples. No test, nothing and you will do it with other couples. It is quite fun actually. Relax.

You'd have to consult the parish priest

usually ME is encouraged though

i am not going through ME nor a church wedding. but you could check, which parish?

Is it u din marry in church due to many restrictions? If got many that we cant fulfil i also think just skip church and do the chinese style.

QUOTE(barista @ Jun 24 2013, 11:17 AM)
Can. Same for everyone. Catholic and non-catholic. Both must attend the CMPC course.

Just get the certificate and you're good to go.
For Catholic marrying non-Catholic, you don't get a full mass that's all.

church wedding or simple Chinese style, I can only say that it is a joint decision, coz u wont know whom u may "offend" for skipping such important ceremony

my answer to u, again, do discuss with ur partner and the parish involved. some may allow, some may not... if church wedding is something ur partner would like to have, it is just a small sacrifice for u to do for ur love ones smile.gif

Actually I find it less stressful. Just follow what they tell you to do.
If Chinese customs, so many people say so many things. I'm glad I had a church wedding.

Agreed. Less stressful then marriage with all the customs involve. biggrin.gif

I think it is already mentioned a couple of times here that you just need to attend a short pre-marriage course to allow you and your partner to marry in the church, so that the wedding will be valid.
Now, if you don't get married in the church, then you are denying your partner the chance to attend a full Mass as usual after you get married, means can't receive communion.

Question is, do you want that? Both are free to practice their beliefs. But if you do not do the necessary things your partner needs and preventing them to properly practice their belief afterwards, don't think its right? right?

There 2 types of Catholic Marriage Preparation Course a.k.a CMPC in order for you to get the cert. Its either you go for the weekly one which takes about 6-8 weeks (once a week class) or there's another which is 3Days2N session..

Barista is right that you can only go for wedding service and not a full wedding mass...
