aww..

why don you take your cat to the vet?

Or did you feed your cat something unusual?

if there's blood i'd ask you to go and see the vet

immediately.

and don give your cat those hard food.

um put it in the water and make it soft so it will be easier to

digest the food.

Cheer up ><

i just faced a sad, unwanted and unexpected situation.

1 old female cat came to my house, its physical looks fine, but suddenly my mom saw her with 2 newborn babies..but its physical didnt show any sign of pregnant anyway..
so we all got shocked, but nevermind, we placed her and her babies inside the cage, then after she cleaned the mess, she went out (perhaps to find some food or jalan2)

and suddenly, she didnt came back for 1 day..we feel worried about her babies, keep "miow"ing becoz of hungry..

so i went out and bought a milk that suitable for kitten and newborn babies and the nursing pet stuff..but when i come back home, the 2nd died already.. sad.gif

then we nursed the 1st child, and seems like he/she (dont know the sex yet) can managed to survive..so we kept on nursing and took care all we can..

2 days waiting, her mom didnt even bother to come..

suddenly, her mom came back, thats a good news..we brought her to her baby, but she refuse to give milk..she didnt even want to approach her baby, nor clean it..she just came to find some food..when the baby approach her stomach, she refuse and ran away..
i dunno why, perhaps the baby got our smell already..

and then as expected, the first child couldnt last longer..
he/she died during the night when we was sleeping..
i found it already hard and got ants on it on the morning..so sad.. sad.gif

i personally own a cat, and i never faced such situation..even stray cat oso took care her children carefully..

1 thing i couldnt understand is, why did she refuses to come back and take care of her children?

My kitten is fine now smile.gif Im so glad...sweat.gif He was stressed out earlier because i was told that this kitten actually had a lil sister. They had always been together. When i bought this fellow,he got separated with his sister,he misses his sister and got really stressed ,plus the new enviro, makes it hard for him.
But now,
he's very happy and rather playful too. rclxms.gif I will post his picture soon. wub.gif

Just a thing ,when he got diarrhea last time. The doctor told me to give him boiled chicken. So,thats what i did. And,since he's getting better and no more diarrhea,i am to give him those cat food back. But the problem is that,he refused to eat any cat food and he only wants boiled chicken.I even mixed the kibbles with boiled chicken and he doesn want to eat it at all. How can i make him eat cat food again??

And is canned food good for cats??
thanks~

I also have a Persian behaving the same way. In fact she didn't even bother to remove the umbilical cord and the placenta (normally, cats would eat that thing). So the babies were still hanging with their cords.

As it was the first we've encountered such things, my mum called her friend who is a doctor (for human patients), and she told us to go to her clinic (for human patient) which is not far from our house.

What she did was, she tied the cord tightly with string threads and cut it with scissors. (at that time, the other human patients were still blur tongue.gif ) Well, although she managed to remove the cord, but the Persian mum still don't want to give milk and eventually all the babies died cry.gif .

After a few months, she gave birth and still didn't remove those cords doh.gif . But since we already know how to remove it, we dispose it ourselves. Although she still didn't give milk to her babies. What we did is we kidnapped her babies and gave them to another cat which were still giving milk. Luckily that cat accepted the babies and all the babies were healthy grown biggrin.gif .

It would be best if you at least give them dry food too if you want give canned foods. My vet advised me not to depend on canned food only as it would cause their teeth to weaken. They need at least have something to chew (like biscuits) so their teeth can develop properly and become stronger.

Use the soap you wash plates with. Get the lemon or lime kind... but make sure don't make the soap enter the eyes and really really wash till no soap on the body. You will need to use your nails to really scrub your cat. The soap will strip away natural oils so what you do is bath with the dish soap first, then after everything is clean and you can't feel any oily stuff on the cat, you apply a thin layer of hair conditioner..... Also, once your cat is dry, rub and brush your cat's fur to stimulate the natural oils in her skin to protect the fur.

Yah... get the liquid washing soap. Quite safe coz people use the dish washing soap to clean birds that involve in oil spills in the sea.

hey, 1 question bout cat. Well, i had this stray cat, which was pregnant which often come to my place for food. we feed it, n even prepare a place outside my house for it to give birth. n yesterday, it give birth outside (since the door is lock durin the night when the cat is outside) but when we open the door, the cat bring it's kitten to our store room (which located under the stair) n place its 5 lil kittens there. So, do i let the cat choose the place? since we are fine with where it locate it coz it doesnt interfere with our daily life, just that i worry me a lil, since that place seem pretty dusty.

n how long does it take for the new born to grew into 'safe' state. so far the newborn still cant open its eye. kinda newbie in this type matter.

The female cat has taken a liking to you, trusting you too. So let it have the room as it's hiding space. Cats normally like to hide away from people and other cats.... this is the reason why some cats give birth in the roof too. Feels safe to them. If it doesn't bother you, just let her be. You can feed her with more high protein stuff..... the kittens will be ready for new homes once they reach 2 months old but they will open their eyes in 2 weeks after birth and will start to crawl... later on they will be jumping about at 1 month and at 2 months old, they will be fully independent from their mom.

taken from wikipedia.org:

"The gestation period for cats is approximately 63-65 days. The size of a litter averages three to five kittens, with the first litter usually smaller than subsequent litters. Kittens are weaned at between six and seven weeks, and cats normally reach sexual maturity at 4-10 months (females) and to 5-7 months (males)."
