For any new car, you should observe the break-in period for the first 1000 Km. There are a few things you should not do during the break-in period

1) Do not overspeed. That means to say, go slow and steady and don't drive excessively fast. Perhaps below 90 km/hr is good

2) No sudden acceleration and/or sudden braking. Basically, do not let your rpm go up too high.

Although most new engines are now built tougher and more robust compared to the older generation ones, it is better to observe this simple tradition when driving a brand new car. KIA does not specifically advice on this matter in the owner's manual either.

one thing that is consistent in all the info i hv read so far, is no cruising on highway at a constant speed (sigh... was planning to drive to KL with the car.)

here's another piece bout this topic
http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-t...ak-in-a-new-car

this piece
http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
however claim that we should floored the pedal... of course not at a constant speed and gear. he suggested to accelerate n decelerate, for each 2nd gear till 4th gear.

i think the main question here is, is the engine a newly assembled engine? i think if it is a newly assembled engine, maybe the flooring method is correct? while for new car, like some articles mention, the engine hv been broken-in by the manufacturer b4 being put into the car, and thus babying it is the correct way to break it in?

this is my theory... any opinions?

oic..i suppose it is waterproof hence the water logging issue..the SC claim they have suck all the water out but unfortunately im not there to see the whole repair process..

6l/100km or below is good rclxms.gif i read the australia motoring, its 5.5 for highway and 6.8 for mix driving...in actual testing. so it is actually not bad. previous Gamma engine's FC was questioned in USA for untrue FC numbers.
I am drivng 120km a day on highway. so FC has to be good. nod.gif
