QUOTE(kennethwch @ Apr 12 2014, 03:39 PM) is it possible to upgrade the ventilated seat like 2.0 into the 1.6?* The 1.6 head light can be ungraded to HID like the 2.0 and if done carefully it should not void the warranty. can upgrade 2.0 xenon light into 1.6?* *without voiding warranty As for ventilated seat for 1.6, I cannot comment on the warranty because it is not available at any Kia SC or Kia appointed supplier anyway. |

QUOTE(kennethwch @ Apr 12 2014, 09:01 PM) do you have any idea for the price if we proceed HID installation in SC? Sorry about the HID, I can help u much on that. Hmm... can i assume the only way to upgrade the seat is change it from fabric to leather? However u are right about the leather seat. The only way is to upgrade. |

QUOTE(perror @ Apr 25 2014, 07:14 PM) My understanding is that Korean cars are heavily dependent on their electronics. There is a significant amount of sensors in the car that governs the vehicle's operations. These sensors are obviously heavily dependent on voltages (high/low and the in between states) and report it's values to the EMS, TCU and other elements. My 2 cents here purely though is that, by cutting the wires, the manufacturer may potentially deem that the vehicle malfunctioned because of something that might have been put in between where the cut occurred, potentially causing the vehicle or a part of it to behave incorrectly. It's their prerogative when it comes to this, but the ball is in the owner's court to prove that it didn't, which might be quite tough. This is the downside of Korean cars. They have a lot of sensors and a misbehaving or even loose sensor can cause the car to misbehave. A good example. My K3's gearbox refused to engage because of a sensor error. When the error was somehow corrected (not sure how), the car just jumped forward like somewhat just banged me from the rear. It's quite unpleasant. A visit to the SC has hopefully sorted that bit out. You can read more about the sensors, how it affects your car and pretty much every technical detail about it at KGIS, the SC reference site. I have some stuff from there, but I don't think it's right to post it here. All in all, Korean cars are technically very advanced vehicles due to the design. However, this advanced design also means that tampering with their wiring could lead to unexpected results even though the tampering does not seem to be one that affects other systems in the vehicle. A good example is a subwoofer would certainly place a high load onto the electrical systems. However, it does seem so remote from something such as a temperature sensor. But a change in overall current stability would affect the performance of that sensor, potentially causing your car to misbehave. This is just my 2 cents judging from the documents I've studied at KGIS. It's a good read, but it also puts me off from making too many mods to the vehicle, especially if requires tampering the electrical, wiring or CANBUS. |

QUOTE(happiesdog @ May 2 2014, 12:15 PM) Congrats on your new ride. This is an interesting topic about break-in period for a brand new car. There are many new owners who would like to know how but there also many who have totally no idea about break-in period for a new car. Here are some tips from youtube which might be helpful. Mind to share your driving style from Kuantan to JB since the car is not run in yet. Some advise that we should not speed above 90km/h and not to maintain a certain speed for long time, if this is true then new car is actually not suitable to cruise on the highway What is your FC for this long journey? Happy watching! |

QUOTE(yikhoe @ May 6 2014, 01:13 PM) hi guys, I'm posting this famous Paultan video for the 2nd time for the benefit of those who have not seen it before. Hopefully this might help. i'm thinking between the new Honda City V spec and the 1.6 Kia Cerato. The main criteria for my purchase is to replace my old Vios, and to have somewhat decent features in the car suitable for family. I will also need low maintenance cost (spare parts readily available), problem free (no major breakdowns like protons) and reliability (quality starts dropping through the months and years) I am getting mixed feedback with positives and negatives remarks. 1. Japanese cars are better in reliability as the parts are high quality and standard is there 2. Kia with additional few thousand get a slightly bigger car with more features 3. Kia has a track record of problematic car like gearboxes going haywire and bunny hopping (kicks) in the engine. 4. I tried Kia cerato and i'm okay with it but i also tried Hyundai Elantra and hate it. Apparently it is the same engine. Elantra has this kick everytime i let go the throttle, feels like dragging on the gears. That scares me a bit. 5. Honda got a long track record of service centers but kia seems to be different is SC management, some belong to naza, some belong to dunno who. i'm looking at average life of around 5 years before i change a car again... resale value is not important but considerable. Any feedback of problems with Kia cerato is much appreciated. Since this is a Kia Cerato fan page so most probably i will hear more positives but what i want to hear are the negatives as well. Thanks guys... This post has been edited by Motorman: May 6 2014, 08:54 PM |

QUOTE(ititman84 @ May 12 2014, 06:15 PM) Dear all, There are many possibilities where the noise may come from. So bring it to the SC and let them check. They will be able to solve it if they can detect the source.I got my Cerato 2 weeks ago, great ride! I would like to check if there is anyone facing the same issue below as i did "Rear or back side of the car, not too sure exactly which part; is having sound like "ngek ngek ngek" when you go through road bump, doing cornering, etc., as if your car is overload but in fact there is only 1 driver in it and no one sitting behind. Is it common and can it be solve"? Many thanks! |

QUOTE(chaostan @ May 16 2014, 11:09 AM) My 3rd kimchi -K3 2.0 and loving the ride currently. Just got the car yesterday after waited almost 2 weeks + due to some issue on the loan banks & 2 public holidays falls in between the week. Previously owned Forte & Spectra. All deals done and sealed with Edwin Loh @Motorman which would say he is one of the most experience SA I ever encountered. Fast, reliable, informative SA! FYI > I'm also the repeat customer to them as when Forte launch 4 years back, I bought the car from the same shop too. Been driving KOREAN cars almost 10 years and I would say KOREAN cars have improved a lot compare to my Spectra time. An definitely K3 is worth buying compare other competitive segment nowdays. Thought wanna to try Sushi brand but yet fall back in love with Kimchi... A fantastic write up. Thousand thanks for the nice word and being so supportive all these years. Forte (2.0) 1st batch & K3 (2.0) - my observation Spec wise - Definitely K3 win over Forte. Sunroof, HID lamp, welcome & DRL light and etc.. Power - K3 seem a bit underpower compare with my previous Forte 4 speed. Most probably my current K3 still in "virgin period" . Will see how after 1000KM Fuel Consumption - Forte is better but maybe K3 have not gone through the break-in period yet. Will see how. Space- I think almost the same. Built up- K3 interior quality much more refine. Design- K3 more sportier Thumb up for Edwin Loh for your great service rendered to me during this process. Can't deny that you have lots of positive comments from others too. You deserve to be praise! Lastly wish you well in business and all the best! |
