I am not speaking for myself but those who are looking forward to the Note3. Such a slight size increment notwithstanding the specs will disappoint many especially when the trend for phablets nowadays is 6 inch and above.

speaking of which..when I went to Korea earlier this year..I noticed note 2 was among the smallest device they use particularly amongst the youngsters and commuters riding the subway..not sure a mere 0.2inches gonna make a difference..hardware specs aside..

Oh?

The phones larger than Note 2 were only released in the last 2 months...I was there in April and saw they were either using the Note 2 or the LG Vu, and a lot of S3's as well.

Lots of cracked screens too tongue.gif

Yes, that squarish device is the LG Vu, weird 4:3 1024x768, no competition for the Note 2 icon_rolleyes.gif

Well. SKorea is great....just that they have a crazy neighbour though hahahaha

Great insight into IPC on Android. If you are interested in Android internals then this is a a must-have (in case you're not already familiar with Binder)

I think last week edwincodec checked this out and found it wasn't something he would recommend.

Check thru some of his posts maybe from v23, near the end.

Some tabloid reporting, however there is no link to what these "technical tests" may be, and obviously the writing style is meant for Joe Public. Good to show the less technically inclined.

I am sticking with the note 2 after a long long time thinking. Major reason for staying with note 2 :

1. Got my UAG scout from US after 1 month time waiting. Super happy with how it looks, so stylish, manly look. 100 percent worth my time n money.
2. Many concerns about battery life difference between this 2 phone.

Hopefully I made the right decision. Just need to get used to the size though.

Well, surprise, but welcome back again.

It's a choice plenty have made and have been happy with. The point with having used a device like the Note 2 is a great difficulty with reverting to smaller handsets tongue.gif

Our guru uncle benny has now gone up and up with 6.0, 6.1 and 6.3 inch devices.

Nonetheless do enjoy your Note 2 and share your contributions.

err what =.= it is not about performance actualy . It's like comparing vista and xp. Of course xp gonna be better. I somehow really pelik why android phone got high performance still got lag whereas iphone just using 1gb ram and lower Ghz but smooth. I really wonder how iOS able to do that, if android can find their trick, im sure more people migrate to android people. Not a fanboy and not an iphone users but as a promoter in mobile shop I like playing with many different type of phone.

Some articles published quite a while back described the design philosophy between ios and android. Android was made from the point of a computer first, with the UI probably following Unix architecture so you can put whatever launcher you want like an X Desktop, and UI optimization was left to the respective launcher architecture.

ios design philosophy was to make the screen redraw as the most important OS priority with fixed bitmaps, that is why multitasking is not well implemented there, and there are no widgets. Now with the layered design ios7, I would think that there is a future for widgets, but it will not come until they are able to force the same draw priority smoothness on the OS level.

Of course, life is fair, and focus on one thing will come at the expense of something else.

No doubt I love the screen size so much when browsing, watching videos and doing anything with it except for having it in my pocket. So big, even need to take it out when I want to drive.

I hope i can get used to it, and im glad i can join back one of the best community in LYN. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Ya la, u make me worry so much bro. Because the battery life is one of my biggest concern. I can see most of my colleague(which are using ip5) need to charge their battery when we have some outdoor event and stand there guarding their phone for 1 hour. I dont want to be like that. But the most imporatnt thing that help me choose note 2 over s4 is the UAG Scout. It is so awesome. Now i need to sell my SGP Spigen Neo Hybrid for S4. cry.gif

Honestly, Android and iOS are very different leagues. iOS is a straight-forward operating system, lacks customization, widgets and various shortcuts that can be found on Android. Basically iOS is just a unlock-use-lock phone. Nothing much to do really. But I do love both platforms anyway tongue.gif

But so far, 8 months with my Note 2, I have not come across the word 'lag' at all.

100% agree. Previously when i was using Galaxy SL(2years ago iinm) which come with Froyo version of android, i face this kind of "lag" even when i'm just browsing through my contacts, reading my old message and flipping between apps. That is the main reason i learn how to root, how to do custom ROM which at that time people said can make your phone smoother.

But now especially with JB version of android, i cant seem to face any of this "lagg" thing that people said to be the biggest problem of android. sometimes i wonder how come only they can face this and im not? 2 or 3 of my friends which just bought S3, Note, Note 2 sell their phone just few weeks later, and when i ask why, they say, "Samsung laggy la". Can someone please tell me exactly how do this laggy thing look on the latest JB version of android?

Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z.

No, XZU is NOT launched yet. Expected either this week or next for the announcment. It remains to be seen what kind of stylus and stylus technology they will use.

BTW, post 5 under Reported Issues has an article that talks about lag....and it's not the end of the world.
