just received my g55vw after sending for warranty in lowyat . my review :

1. it took them 5 working days to get my requests done . pretty ok
2. they cant reset my windows 8.1 as i requested , so back to windows 7
3. if u like trend micro they install them again , free trial for 1 year ! but they also install some stupid bloatwares
4. the backlit on the keyboard now NEVER works .
5. they claim they replace (not fix) the hdd and cd tray but my transfer speed (WD my passport usb 3 to internal hdd) still hovers around 30MB/s
6. i told them to repaste (the said they replaced the vent or heatsink or something) but the cpu temperature literally doesnt seem to drop (reached 83C before gaming ! is that even possible !?)
7. sometimes (periodically and constantly) even when im not gaming the fan suddenly starts to make noise , cpu temp increase but the clock speed doesnt get affected as i use Balanced power mode . this NEVER happened before sending to warranty .
8. i encountered several (ok, alot) heavy lags but maybe its because im installing apps and stuffs again but the lags are totally ridiculous

bottom end : dont send for warranty . my next laptop will be lenovo

lag as in it took a solid 5-10 second (normally 0-2 sec) to launch an app that requires a user account control verification . and what does "Bad sector/refurbish hard disk replaced in 5" means ? 1tb i checked and definitely 5400rpm as per stated in asus website . they said they replaced the heatsink set which means it was pre-pasted in the factory . do u have the solution to my hotkey problem above ? thanks !

I am about to purchase a G750JX, but have doubt if I should wait for G750 refresh, like the G750JS rumoured to have GTX870M.

My situation now is I do have a working laptop, but it's 7 years old. I am definitely not desperate in need of new laptop, just my desire to have one.

So what is you guys opinion: Buy G750JX now, or wait until probably Aug/Sept for G750 refresh?

My Asus G53JW lappy's power cord seemed to be not working anymore this morning. However I have another power cord from my old lappy laying around and yes it does work. I am worried my lappy now is under powered although this is just a temporary solution. I am really glad the brick-sized power adapter is still running fine as I suspected it as the culprit earlier. Need expert advice here:

1. Can I just use any power cord for my G53JW?
2. And if I go to electrical shop, should I ask for the power cord with 7A and 125V labelled?

Please note that my original power cord from Asus is labelled with:
7A
125V

My temporary power cord comes with:
2.5A
250V~

I know this is silly, but the temporary power cord is used to power up a 65 watt old lappy but I believe the G53JW is powered up with 150 watt.

Real noob here, if u need additional info please let me know (input, output labelled on the brick power adapter)

The temperature is wrong. Its should be below 90c when stressed. (Stock cpu).
No, cpu and gpu are both not upgradeable. (All soldered this time)

Hi guys, long time no see... I've ran into some issues with my G75VW.. First the adapter got spoilt.. yesterday, the laptop is not switching on at all... need help..

I charged the laptop using an Energizer battery pack, and i was able to use my laptop, but suddenly yesterday, i could not even charge it anymore, and the laptop did not switch on...

Ic... where is the service centre in KL? Lowyat Plaza?

the differences are more than customizations. i don't wanna go into details but asus needs to take a serious look at what other brands have offered to customers. (most of the times it's the convenience and after sales supports that matter most than a device that has all the power in the world)

i like asus g-series. (well at least the g55 is a wonderful machine to me). however recent versions are really turn-offs to me. every time :/

haha yeah of course~ the current external design i'm satisfied what. simple but elegant. And the newer design for g750 is quite nice too apart from the superb design that doesn't allow us to do the cleaning our selves and of course i believe the new design also comes with the 2 accessible ram slot and another 2 non-user accessible . lawl~ i think they are playing it safe. but too safe already. atleast don't solder the parts. We can do it ourselves. the GPU also follow standard MxM should really help. other than that so far the g55 perform well
yep sort of for g55 alone i've been using it since june 2012. I've lost count of how many times i disassemble my laptop sometimes just to re-paste, or clean the fan or sometimes misconnected something then have to re-do the whole thing~ =.=" and of course add rams to the non-user accessible slot

so basically my estimation time now to:

disassemble g55 : 15 - 20 mins (up to taking out the mobo)
clean fans and stuff : 10 - 15 mins
assemble g55 : 20 - 25 mins

few of us here actually could disassemble the laptop easily since going to service center just for cleaning is too much of a hassle (going to kl is a no no =.=" traffic jams here and there~)

Guys, I think my BD-ROM is busted. Can read CD but can't read DVD. Any known fix??

Its a g series notebook. So yeah its rog . Thats the refresh for g55 i believe since it came with gtx760 a slight improvement towarda our almost extinct gtx660 lol

Although if u look at the specs for n56 and g56 its too damn similar. Difference i believe (correct me) is n56 comes with optimus while g56 does not
