Hi, will be reaching Bali at 1900 hrs on a Saturday evening. What will be the better option:

1. To explore and stay one night nearby Denpasar Airport area, the next day only go to Ubud.

Or

2. To hire a driver and straight drive to Ubud, then start our Bali trip from there the next morning?

denpasar airport to kuta town not far....just 15-20min especially at night.

if i were u i stay in kuta for 1 night next morning checkout go ubud.... r u planning to stay in ubud? then final day only checkin at kuta b4 going back since kuta n airport is quite near

how many days u going and whats ur purposes ?

me i aim snorkeling and beach activity hence alot island trip and stay at beach..... nontheless bali is big and alot of things u can do there are many place for sightseeing such as temples, gold n silversmiths, waterfalls, hiking on beautiful mountain, and many more.

i say 5 nights also not enough to travel all... cant even go to lombok. need at least 7 to 10 days trip for full satisfaction guaranteed trip to bali lol

I would go for second options. Basically u can do nothing or see anything when you arrived. And stay there is fairly more expensive(well depends where exact place u stay la)

And do you plan to just go Ubud? and how many nights are u staying?
If few nights, u can slowly explore the town area first for few days then only move to Ubud lo..

If u plan to JUST going Ubud, then u can stay one night in town, and next morning can jalan jalan around first, and only go there late lunch..still fine.

My trip will be 7d6n (more like 6d6n due to arriving late on Saturday). For relaxing vacation with wife. Yup I plan to stay 2 nights in Ubud. After doing some research, I think I will cover Ubud, Tegalalang and Tampak Siring for the first 2 days, then move to Bali South for the remaining trip.

Bali South I plan to explore Kuta, Tanah Lot, Nusa Dua, Seminyak etc.

I would like to explore different type of attractions, including temples, beaches, paddy field, nightlife etc. Too bad no budget for more days.

Yup I would like to cover both Ubud and Bali South side. Still learning from this thread and drafting out itinerary.

So if u going 7d6n..First 5 days u can stay in Seminyak/Kuta/Legian..Depends what kind of style u want..Seminyak is more artsy and hipster, while Kuta is all the nightlife with clubs..From either these places u can easily go to Uluwatu temple, Kuta beach, Potato Head Beach Club, Tanah Lot and all the famous places easily..Its not far.

Then the last 2 nights u can go to Ubud lo..then u can go to Tegalalang since both are at the slightly northern part..

Nope. Usually drivers charge like 8hours/day..they don charge half day..Unless u going to book him for the rest of your trip also then u can top up a bit for him to fetch u from airport la..or else once u arrive at airport, u can take grab or uber to Seminyak easily. Its cheap too.

btw have u figure out the transport to travel Bali? are you going to rent a bike or? i would suggest you book a driver for 1-2 days to go to those far places..within city u can rent a bike(super cheap) or just take uber.

I think maybe I will do Ubud first, because last day don't want to be too rushing for flight, thus prefer to stay nearer to airport.

My rough itinerary is like this (is it OK?)

Day 1 - Reach Denpasar Airport at 1900 > take a Bluebird taxi/grab/uber to Ubud > Check in hotel > Look for a place to have dinner > Rest and relax

Day 2 - Tegalalang > Tampak Siring > Lunch @ Ibu Oka Babi Guling > Ubud Street > Royal Palace > Sukawati (shopping) > Dinner @ Bebek Bengil > Rest in Ubud Hotel

Day 3 - Bedugul > Lake Bratan > Candi Kuning Fruit Market > Goa Gajah > Spa in Ubud > Rest in Ubud Hotel

Day 4 - Check out Ubud Hotel > Kintamani > Check in Kuta Hotel > Tanah Lot > Jimbaran Bay for Seafood > Rest in Kuta Hotel

Day 5 - Nusa Dua > Sanur Beach > GWK > Uluwatu > Rest in Kuta Hotel

Day 6 - Explore Kuta Beach and Legian > Free and easy

Day 7 - Morning free and easy > Afternoon fly back to Malaysia

Initially I plan to hire private driver for my whole trip, but seemed like I only need him for the first 4 days? After I reach Bali South I don't need private driver anymore?

Hahaha for sure not going to drive or ride myself. Heard the traffic there is too hectic and scary

I don see any Seminyak in your itinerary? TBH I love seminyak and its my fav place in Bali haha..Never like Kuta.

Yup overall its fine la but i have a feeling u might need driver on day 5 as well..not to say north need driver or south don need..its actually the central where tourist population is high..from the map u can see places like Sanur Beach, Uluwatu is slightly away from the central already.

the traffic there is crazy la..so don encourage you to drive..take grab is cheaper u can relax with ur wife..

if u really wanna self travel then get a bike lo, but provided u are not amateur la..coz last time i wanna rent a bike and almost accident haha..couldnt handle the traffic there well.

7 days 6night is denfinitely enough to explore ubud, seminyak n kuta.. no worries take it easy seems like u also did alot of research beforehand.


wow u really did ur homework there, regarding driving experience yes traffic there is bad especially early morning and late evening (ppl go n back from work) can go really crazy. better hire driver... day 5 u can rent a bike and go for urself, its definitely doable.. go sanur beach n do beach activity there! it was fun.. at least do some water activity sports here. check the price here

Because i read posts from few months back, the price was like 350000 to 400000 per day only. Really increased so much?

mine is just 400k

350-450k seems about right

i gave tips 50k for good service and from early morning 7am till 10pm service

is uber/grab really convenient there? if to travel with elderly x2 and an infant (total 4 adult+ 1infant), recommended to just depend on uber/grab?
