That is kotobukiya's one right? Mass production version will then have 30% less details + chances of paint faults.
Their prototypes and sculpts are fantastic but they just have the fark up the final produict with QC issues most of the time, but nothing big enough to deter anyone from buying if they like it. If you own any Koto figures which you think is perfect, then you got lucky.

It does look a bit awkward but this is the one to go for instead of GSC's one. GSC's version is a very old figure but was re-released once, and boring standing pose.

Comic Fiesta Mini today (and tomorrow) in Gurney Paragon, Penang.
Haiz, such a high class place selling designer brands for thousands of bucks, but bootlegs being sold everywhere in the event, there is a booth where they mix up a genuine Saber cuirassier (for a mindfarking RM 700) with overpriced bootlegs. Some of the bootlegs are very well made that i needed a close up inspection to notice it.

I mean, seriously, the bootlegs look really good, and overpriced to near the authentic version's price (for the first time i see such a good quality bootleg, because the bootleg figures i have seen in my hometown look like aliens, not humans). Any inexperienced customer will definitely get cheated.

Somehow, the first thing i noticed is the figure lacking a bit of detail compared to what i saw in MFC's user and official photos (purely my own memory, didnt save the photos in my phone) but the sculpt and face - everything is accurate. Upon closer inspection an important clue gave away the identity of the figure being a bootleg - semi-glossy skin. Not something you you will notice with the figure inside the box - i switched on my phone's camera flash and shine it on the figure's window box to confirm it. And final check - their GSC/Max/Alter figures has no hologram stickers behind the box. That pretty much confirms a bootleg.

Not as bad as what i went through with some GSC figures like BRS Animation... the metal wires tying the figure to the plastic mold, 4 of them i think, removing all of them, then the plastics, then assembling... Took me half an hour...

To me 9800yen should have been the right price, but Max Factory (correction, i thought it was GSC) often charges premium nowadays to set themselves apart from other manufacturers who give you average quality at 8000yen. If the increase in price means more effort put into preventing QC issues, (and somehow they are good - very good in fact), im willing to pay higher instead of buying half-assed figures at 8000yen. And dont forget Max Factory and Native are the same company - quality first.

And, the amount of tough material used to toughen the hair (without the need of support poles) + Miku licensing costs. Under 12k yen is still ok i guess.
