LG Optimus G Pro named king of the large-screen jungle, takes the Galaxy Note 2′s throne
http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-optimus-g-pro-217526/

Samsung spawned a new market when it released the Galaxy Note, and while it has taken a while for other manufacturers to catch up, LG looks to have hit a homerun with the LG Optimus G Pro.

U.S. consumer magazine Consumer Report has stated that the Optimus G Pro is both better and cheaper than the current king of large-screen smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

LG held an event where it invited 182 participants who have had previous experience with large phones, to participate in a one month trial where they tested the user experience of the Optimus G Pro and compared it to their previous experiences with other smartphones.

Incredibly, 95% of the participants chose to replace their current devices with an Optimus G Pro, and 80% of those who chose to swap were coming from a Samsung Galaxy Note.

The features that participants saw as the most interesting were the Full HD front and back cameras, as well as a feature we’ve also seen on the Galaxy S4, called dual recording mode. This allows both the subject and the taker to be in the video, and uses both the front and rear camera simultaneously to shoot videos. Unlike the Galaxy S4, it can not take still shots.

With a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a Quad-core Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.7 ghz and a 13 megapixel camera, the Optimus G Pro has specifications which rival and even exceed the Galaxy Note 2 in some aspects.

However, some would argue that it isn’t the Galaxy Note 2’s size that makes it such a great device, but rather it is Samsung’s software optimizations and the S-Pen, which allow you to fully utilize the screen space.

==============

What do you think?

Personally, S-Pen FTW. Without this, there is no comparison.

Actually while in Korea, I saw many ladies using the phone although the screen was cracked. Either they didn't bother changing, or it's too expensive in Korea.

They were using those slim flip back covers.

I have this problem with the screen rotation especially on the stock browser.
Rotation is on, and from a fresh boot, it rotates in landscape. Approximately every 2 days, it gets stuck at portrait. Shaking and tapping the phone doesn't help.

Don't know if anyone else has experienced it. After a reboot it goes away, but happens about every couple of days.

I searched and found these:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-galaxy-...dow-update.html

http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-galaxy-...n-rotation.html

Possible gyro problem? Stock DLL4 + Perseus 35. I think it occurred only recently maybe in the last month or so.

Snapdragon™ BatteryGuru

Snapdragon batteryguru..

Heard it can safe some battery and auto freeze if program used too muh resource at the background...

It's for Qualcomm cpus. I don't think it will work very well with Exynos, or bork your battery saving settings internally.

=============================

BTW, someone on reddit is also trying to undertake the mammoth task of ROM listing and categorisation:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1...terface_of_xda/

I checked his subreddit
http://www.reddit.com/r/AndROMs/

I think listing by date is going to lead to dupes or at least difficulty in finding your device since you have to know the release date of your ROM. tongue.gif

one quick question, will rooting wipe my data? hmm.gif

No. Please read posts 6,7 and 8 and the links carefully before you proceed. Rooting itself only takes 3 minutes. It's the foreplay that's important tongue.gif

Boleh pakai ka? How's the result?

BTW

Zerolemon 9300mAh battery on Amazon, ships internationally:

http://www.amazon.com/warranty-ZeroLemon-P...69895070&sr=1-6

USD45 only.

From one of the reviews: the guy got it on 10th May

UPDATE: MAY 14 - I'm STILL trying to make the battery go down to 2% so I can do the 2nd full charge. I know I shouldn't complain LOL. Just goes to show how long this battery last. I did notice that the battery read/gauge is wrong. What I mean by this is that my battery was down to 5% last night. I was doing my utmost best to make it go down to 2% (by playing videos very loud, full brightness etc.) so I can recharge it. To no avail. I use my phone as an alarm clock so I decided to remove the ZeroLemon battery and put my Hyperion battery so I can still keep my phone on just in case. This morning I put the ZeroLemon battery back again in hopes to discharge it and the ZeroLemon shows 16% battery life! At this point now its down to 4%. So hard to discharge! So that's the only observation I noticed at the moment. I'm currently waiting on my external charger so I won't have this problem of changing batteries. So far so good!

ya, i also worry... coz i know Long March is a popular model for pirates.

the LYN seller seems to think and say its genuine though. anyway, waiting for a reply. worst case, i really no choice, then crack open and see what is inside. and maybe make a big fuss. but hope dun come to that.

but seriously... with Note 2... what other powerbank is being used by others. any reliable one with 2A port?

i'm just curious... or everyone going with that ZeroLemon battery 2-3 posts above this post? 9000+mAh... my goodness... Takes probably like a few hours to full charge?!? biggrin.gif

only joytest would love a bulge in his pants with that zerolemon

my yoobao from dasherzx seems ok with the 2A port working. the charge port (when you charge the device) was faulty once but he fixed it for me.

the model is sadly discontinued. try something else perhaps? Pineng (very heng now) or my fav, Lepow

Don't know if brotan is still carrying the Long March, he has/had it at RM179, from local distributor.

The zerolemon would detract from the protection I currently have and leave the phone naked, so I won't be getting one and I won't get stares about the bulge in my pants.

mydragoon what was the scary experience you got from your latest yoobao ?

[APP]Floating Notifications - Alpha 4r1 - 29/05
First things first. This is NOT Halo. There are no popups of the app and nor will there ever be. If that is what you are after download Paranoid Android for your phone and enjoy

With that out of the way, this is Floating Notifications

How does it work
- Setup your settings in the UI.
- Then go to your System Settings -> Accessibility -> Floating Notifications - Turn it on

Controls
- Tap to open the stack
- Tap the current notification to close the stack
- Tap the text of a notification to launch that app
- Drag the first notification in the stack to move around the screen
- Double tap to close a notification
- Double tap a closed stack to close all notifications

App List Buttons
- Long press any of the buttons in the app list (once you have enabled them by checking that app) and you'll get an explanation on what they do (happy to change the explanations if anyone has a more concise or simpler explanation)

Sensitivity
- The double tap threshold refers to the amount of time in milliseconds between taps. So if you set it to 1000 it will wait one second for your second tap before it brings up the text.

I have one issue for my phone for past 2 days. Out of nothing suddenly got no network when I try to make a phone call. At this time, I can't make a phone call and other people can't reach me. I need to restart the phone before I can make a call again. Anyone know what is the issue related to? icon_question.gif
*
Are u in PG or northern region? Some other thread was describing a similar problem needed to airplane mode and re-enable radios before calling works. Don't recall if it was nexus 4 or htc1 or xz thread.

If u are not in PG u could still call yr telco and ask if they are doing anything at yr area.

The whole android LYN forum seems to have slowed. Probably everyone's on holiday. Even the Note 2 XDA ROM threads have slowed considerably.

Oh you use the S-pen a lot? Note taking? After using the S-pen, we can only rely on the Note family for updates. All others are no comparison at all whatever the size and speed. rclxms.gif
