In Malaysia averagely I can save ~40% of my nett salary. Doubt I can do the same in Singapore. Hence my questions since I am not aware of the cost that people will incur in working there.

Commodities trading is big here in SG, almost on par with Switzerland.

I also want to move into soft commodity trading eventually. The big ones here are Noble resources and olam but even Glencore, Trifugura, Bunge and such have a big presence here.

I was from a local bank doing trade finance, so i see their bills pretty often.
But in a midst of a job change now, moving into a bunker fuel trading firm.
Hope to be able to go into commodities trading though!

It depends on your lifestyle. You only need less than 1500sgd for basic needs exclude car loan and house mortgage.
I can do nothing with my 50% saved in Msia. But I can achieve a lot with the 65% saved here. I know some friends who fly every weekend for backpacking or couchsurfing.

myr 2000 - sgd 1200 is a huge downgrade, i wouldn't take
myr 10000 - sgd 9200 is probably an upgrade, i would come in an instant

so what are your actual figures?

My question here is: How about small family?
My husband and i both have a stable income job in Penang and Malaysia, distance is a b****, so we are thinking to find a location that both of us can work together, we have a baby. Is it difficult for look for job + nursery in Singapore? I asked a few opinions from friends and family, not to mention about securing a job first, having to find a good nanny and baby-friendly accommodation is already a headache.
My friend said single room not meant for mommies and babbies, i need to rent a whole apartment that's about SGD2k? (is it true?)
And i probably need to hire a nanny and get one of my family to come down to watch the nanny taking care of the baby....

I hope to gather some information here, especially if you are  a young family working in singapore, I appreciate your advice and opinion, thanks in advance.
