Wondered what happened to the rest of the bodies i saw they use the storm trooper's helmet as drum set... that part quite iconic in the movie |

hmm... i got a question/request for suggestion for vey99, alanyuppie and all the brothers/sister here.
currently i got quite many small parts...all sorted by color and put in those rm5 daiso tupperware but the problem i face = hard to find/retrieve/get those smaller part (2x2, 1x2 stud, connector n so on) so i went to look around for those multi compartment thing. i saw carrefour/tesco/giant selling something like this (but it's 25 small drawer like, refer the first 2 row of the image below) maybe i should get 2 of those and stack them up? (selling rm18-rm20 each) then put those smaller brick part there? (since i'm still doing house keeping for my stuff/toy/room) is it a good solution? please share |

QUOTE(alanyuppie @ Jun 5 2013, 09:19 AM) Try one first. sometimes u wont know the "feel" unless you do a test-run on how your lego-picking habit will be like . I find small parts to be hard to dig from deep compartment (that's why I'm still using shallow and wide trays , dozens of them). I only put specialised /weird shaped parts (tyres, technic beams and exoforce /bionicle parts) in deep trays coz I only need to "browse" them once to collect my required parts for MOC (for eg. snag 4 tires if want to build race car). For repeated browsing during the MOC-ing process.. shallow trays = bigger footprint = easier to locate parts on the fly. thank you for the reply...i'm using those tray as well. very useful but my table getting clustered everyday (still cleaning them though) assuming i'm getting 1 of those multi compartment... it's 5 row, 5 drawer in 1 row type. can i sort them by this way? row 1 = those smaller 1x1 stud, plates, etc. plant/flower stuff row 2 = 2x2, 2x1 stud, plates, etc row 3 = 3x1, 4x1, 4x2 stud, plates, etc row 4 = all those connector/joints/hinge row 5 = funny/weird bricks, printed parts, does it make sense to you? /in before i'm got Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) |

QUOTE(alanyuppie @ Jun 5 2013, 09:36 AM) row 1 ,4,5 sounds good coz they're categorized properly. Got it. thanks for the explanation. As for row 2 and 3, you must train yourself to remember the plates dimension to avoid looking at the wrong location. since they're many plate sizes (2x3, 2x4, 4x6 ).. u might confuse yourself. My current categorization tray 1) everything plates 1x1 and 1x2 (including modified ones with clips) tray 2) everything plate 1x n longer than 2. 1x3 until 1x16 ... I call them" sticks" . the rest of the plates and "normal bricks" are sorted by color. If the plate are too big , eg 8x8 (I know I hardly gonna use it.).. all will end up in "unloved" tray with other huge parts. LOL. Big parts on top of much smaller ones will block the view, so gotta isolate them. thanks for sharing too. cos i spend too much time searching for those small part in tupperware (i only sort them by color) so the big parts always blocking the view. wanna cut down searching time and make it easier for me to build stuff (by investing some time to sort them first) |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Jun 5 2013, 10:09 AM) Rechargable battery are 1.2-1.3V Hence, the standard battery pack 6x alkaline ranges 8.4-9.6V++ Rechargeable 6x 1.2V = 7.6V , hence degraded motor performance. By going 8x 1.2V = 9.6V If battery is fully charge, is about 8x 1.3V = 10.4V. But I tested it won't sustain at this, once running continuously, it will drop to 9.5-10.0V Even new/fresh alkaline at +1.65V x 6 = 9.9V The Lego motors can stretch all the way to 11-12V. 10V is still fine. <8V the performance will degrade. Cannot fit 10x battery lah tl:dr summary: More environment friendly to use rechargeable battery, but I need to maintain ~9V. other brand might have a different drop out in the voltage part. actually i'm also still looking for cheap AAA deal, so can only found them from ebay. it's around rm50 for 4x AAA (newer version which can recharge up to 1800 times) QUOTE(vey99 @ Jun 5 2013, 10:10 AM) i currently use similar solution, but its 3x3 drawers per unit. its small, and i use it to store i see. got it.1x1 tiles 1x2 tiles 1x1 plate 1x1 plate round modified tiles modified plates modified slopes/brick transparent bricks hinges for decorations, weapons, i use separate hobby boxes like for fishing hooks where once open you can access all compartments. now that u mention ima gonna drop by at tesco and grab some more storage hehe actually i saw they also selling a bigger version (35 drawer) with a mixture of small n big drawer price around rm35+ (somehow is old stock at my side, lucky carrefour and tesco is less than 5km drive from my house) somehow i prefer the smaller drawer version for now. |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Jun 5 2013, 10:18 AM) So far, I bought 6x Daiso mid-size containers with compartments. You know how many of those tiny Technic pins, axles, connectors are. Don't skimp on too small compartments like 3x3cm. Get bigger ones with 5x5cm compartments and deep enough at least 4-6cm (not 2-3cm). i see...The above (your pic suggestion) is good, if you have a work/play table to permanently put it. I still use containers and can bring around, stack and move around. Also, the small drawer may seem sufficient, but very soon will be too small Just my 2 cents i still dont have much technic parts... will combine them together for now. QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Jun 5 2013, 10:33 AM) for me, still not enough containers and compartments, so I share 2-3 items per compartment. hmm...you are correctcompartment 1: 2x and 4x axles (or 2/4/6 x axles) compartment 2: 3x and 5x axles (or 3/5/7 x axles) ... some have huge quantities, like the black Technic pin with slots ... easily have 1000 pieces total now. Which will occupy a mid-size single container all by itself. Cannot mix with other pins, as digging deep down will be difficult. my solution above is more suitable for normal bricks... need to find of a better solution for technic parts later on cos the axle usually 1x8, 1x 12... quite long |

QUOTE(maxilife1 @ Jun 5 2013, 10:44 AM) well, u know u need to start organize when you spend over 10 mins to find a part each timewhile the building only less than 10 mins wanna cut down time to find part, and spend more time for creation QUOTE(vey99 @ Jun 5 2013, 10:45 AM) for bricks i put them in the daiso shoe box, separate by colour and stack them up. plates of the same color go into the shoe box in a separate ziplock bag. i'm doing something like thatit's transparent n easy to get the problem is i mix all the parts together, having hard time to spot the 2x1 part in all the black bricks hopefully the drawer system will help |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Jun 5 2013, 11:29 AM) Yes, I notice the grouping is quite simple. Skip 2 sizes, for each compartment. Easier to find. this is another good tip... You can go different method, like: 1,4,7,10 2,5,8,11 3,6,9,12 or some go 1,10 2,9 3,8 4,7 5,6 -> this one a bit difficult to choose/pick out. This is the problem. So far I still not yet mix the sets together. No choice. There are couple of times, I thought there are missing parts, until I dig left/right up/down, different containers & compartments until finally found it will practise your method, alanyuppie and vey99 methods later my brain must be blunt cos cant think of something like this thanks for sharing not sure what is the different between the batteries... but i think i won't be able to charge over 500 times also... still, it;s way cheaper than buying those heavy duty alkaline |

QUOTE(Lego_Jason @ Jun 5 2013, 11:56 AM) Hahaha! Started it as a joke, I don't want to get my hopes up finding it at RM350. if not mistaken, the XX is meant for those higher drainage device...Mind sharing how much was the shipping for this lot? Perhaps that will shed some light whether it is sea freight or air freight? Yup! We should all use rechargeable batteries for the sake of our environment! I have a battery charger/analyser and so far the Eneloops are very stable even after many rounds of recharge. Have you tried Eneloop XX? It is higher capacity at 2500mAh but downside is that it is only good for 500 cycles... One day I will try to do a comparison on my train between regular Eneloop and XX... Yeah, Eneloop still the best for me too. Took note of your price, I may be going to Low Yat Plaza soon so I'll check price and report here. such slr speed light, u can cut down the flash time. or those RC car unless u can get it cheap, i think normal eneloop should do well on lego train |
