I think minimum must have 4 lines , 3 lines plus one circular line . By the time MRT 3 completed in 2025, we are almost a world class city . But dun forget, these are moving targets , 10 years later, will need more lines to justify.

Regardless of how many lines, if the system can't catch high population in ridership, it's still far from calling as world class. A world class meteo system is not only about good connectivity, but also established accessibility and coverage which is one of the criteria that is badly lacking of, eg good and efficient feeder bus system and regional bus interchange surrounding mrt to maximize the ridership. Let's see how it goes when mrt launch.

This type of project will always go on no matter which side controls fed govt. They can't afford to upset the ppl by cancelling it. The only thing they can achieve is to deliver the project but brag about the cost savings.
