who gonna contact me? Amazon? that RM50 base on item price or item type? so total time to arrive how many days?
*
SIRIM is based on item type, according to item tariff code. Price and processing time varies depending on the SIRIM agent, sometimes they take more sometimes they take less.

depends la if the person checking knows the item has WIFI or not...
Not many ppl know what VR is, and may slip through... see luck..

Sirim not only applicable for wifi, the original vive, rift and WMRs (WMR have bluetooth) have no wifi but also subject to sirim permit because its an electrical item.

General guideline is electrical goods with
1. wire/cable/cord (non-armoured) 0.5mm² to 35mm²
2. adapter / charger
3. plug top / plug

Hey, since u have the quest. Is the quest store shared with the main oculus rift store or oculus Go store?
Do they have regional pricing as well?
*
nope, Quest has own store, different from Rift.

Tried Oculus Quest yesterday during open house lol. Really like the features, the vr area bounderies is really a good feature. Really solid VR hmd, played the Star Wars exclusive game as well as the National Geographic Artartica game. Have to say Oculus is more feature rich than Vive and other HMD.

But one down side seems to be the comfort. Just like 30 minutes in using the Quest already having some neck pain, even tighten the vr hmd a lot so it won't make it worse. They should really take the license from Sony like a few other HMD. PSVR and a few others have really good comfort for long play session. I mean I played my PSVR for 5 hours sometimes and I never had any neck pain. If they address that Oculus would be my next purchase. Next gen ofc.
*
Their Oculus Rift S is already using halo style design, similar to that of PSVR, so don't think its an issue with licensing, just more of an Oculus design style. The Rift S is designed with Lenovo while the Quest is fully design by Oculus.

was tempted to get the Quest. I did hear there are cross sharing for selected apps between rift and go/gearvr. thanks for the info. I wish oculus would have regional pricing like steam =(

btw is there any fogging with the quest? im assuming due to most of the parts in tight space.. there would be high chance of fogging.
*
there's sideloading feature so not all have to buy from Oculus Store.

I assume there won't be any fogging issue as the nose gap provide plenty of room for air circulation.

What I'm really interested to try for the Quest is local streaming steam VR games via local wifi network. Anyone here who owns a Quest manage to try it already? Is the latency playable?

Hi, I plan to get a HTC VIVE as a first time VR, do you guys recommend it ?

Btw is there any shop/place I can try out VR HMD before purchase ?

Plan to use it for Sim Racing haha.
*
Can try it at TMT (Thunder Match) lowyat.

I'm a fellow sim racer who race in VR too.

Apart from selling Oculus VR, I'm also official reseller of HTC Vive. I'm having a demo session for a couple of clients to try Oculus Rift S this Saturday evening at my shop in lowyat. Feel free to drop by if you interested to try as well.

Do I recommend HTC Vive? Well, feel free to PM me for my personal opinion (and more specifically how suitable it is for VR sim racing), I can also share with you a detailed comparison between the major VR headsets out there (I've tabulated it for easy comparison).

Vive Cosmos open for preorder tomorrow onwards, convenient inside-out tracking tracking with 6 cameras. Price more expensive than the original Vive. Cheaper than Vive Pro discounted price.

Therefore, do u think riff s is a good choice?
*
If someone tells me they plan to get the Quest to be used solely as a PC VR, then I'd advise them to get the Rift S instead.

Rift S is specifically made as a PC VR, while Quest is made as a standalone VR but now with PC VR streaming feature.

I believe Quest is like your flagship smartphone with terrific AI camera, and Rift S is like your proper camera. At a general glance, pictures from the smartphone AI camera may look just as nice as a proper camera due to smart software trickery, but when you really zoom in and look for the details you'll see that there's a difference.

My problem about the Rift S would be the foam tho.. foam isn't replaceable since it's glued together with the hmd., which I think would be disgusting in the long run, but tracking and etc Rift S it actually a lot better I heard.
*
actually its removable, AMVR is about to release the replacement foam for Rift S pretty soon.

Hmm ok, worse case is just pay $$ extra right ? Kastam won't confiscate the product because the 60GHZ wireless doesn't comply with local laws, etc..
*
why not just get it locally from official Vive Malaysia dealer?

Oculus Link now enable the Oculus Quest standalone VR console to be use as a VR headset for PC, to play PC VR games such as racing simulator. I've tested an ultra long 10 meter cable that works. With this, my Oculus Quest cable length is now twice the length of any typical PC VR headset such as Rift S and Vive Pro etc. Latency compared to Rift S not noticeable for me.

Very nice. One question, have you tested any games that works on the quest, and then test the same game with the link. How much difference was it. Standalone vs with pc. Quite curious. Really interested to get the Quest at this point.
*
Yes I played Beat Saber using the link.

Whiles I don't notice any noticeable latency in normal games/VR environment, when comes to fast pace game such as Beat Saber on expert/expert+ difficulty, for sure the native Quest version of Beat Saber feels better than smoother than using the link to play the SteamVR version.

Aside from that graphical difference? Link has graphical advantage right?
*
if you mean when comparing Quest native graphic with the link vs Quest native graphic without the link.

Without the link the graphic will be handled by the built in chipset, native Quest games will naturally be less detailed and lower poly count than the PC counterpart.

With the link, graphic will be handled by PC GPU thus will run the PC version of the game so will be more detailed and higher poly count. However, as Peenutt rightly mentioned, because the graphic will be compressed, it'll run at lower resolution than the native Quest games, thus not as image will be not as sharp, the details and high poly count that the PC is able to produce will also be compressed.

But then again, for the general consumer who won't really try in depth and compare the graphic and latency of the Rift S native PC VR vs the Quest standalone VR with PC link capability. The quality of of the Quest with PC link capability is actually quite impressive and close enough to a native PC VR like the Rift S to warrant a win for the Quest over the Rift S.

*
here's another option, since 3 meter one not that suitable for roomscale movement.

Ultra Long Oculus Link Compatible Cable

5 meters to 10 meters? how does it work? is it an active USB cable with external power? 3 meters should be the max for a passive cable..

and that price is  ohmy.gif 3 meters only cost rm23
*
no need external power, just plug and play, direct connection, not extension cable.

considering the official cable which is only 5meter cost RM330+ excluding US to Msia shipping. I'd say it's fairly priced.

You may refer to the video I posted a few post above, that video I'm using the 10meter one.

A couple of my customers shared it in the global Oculus Quest group too

Yeah, I am aiming for HTC Vive due to I mainly game on Steam, much compatibility from review (I admit I not yet test any before).

Talked to their support after that post I made, they gave me links to order online through Shopee.
*
From what I know, being official reseller for Vive Malaysia, Vive Malaysia already discontinued the original HTC Vive as the product no longer in production, replaced by Vive Cosmos.

The gen 1 consumer VR (HTC Vive and Oculus Rift CV1) resolution is quite low if you compare it with today's (I call it gen 1.5) VR standard, with Rift S, Samsung Odyssey+, Cosmos, Index, Pimax etc. After getting the Rift S, I couldn't accept the CV1 and Vive resolution thereafter.

But the gen 1 consumer VR is now relatively cheap now since those that moved on to gen1.5 wanna let go their gen 1 headset.

In terms of compatibility with SteamVR, I would say all the main VR headset regardless of brand is compatible, SteamVR has controller module for most of the main VR headset, including the Oculus Quest with Link. So I wouldn't be worried about non-Vive headset not working with SteamVR.

And other advise are,
- don't look at specs on paper, VR don't work that way, higher resolution doesn't mean it's clearer, there's difference between OLED and LCD display,
- some VR have built in sensors so it's super user friendly in terms of using and setting up, some VR require setting up and calibration of external sensors, the many steps and wires may be overwhelming if you prefer something that is plug and play,
- some VR headset design is skii mask style, some is halo headband style, see which type is more comfortable for you,
- then there's the controller weight, ergonomics, battery life, tracking quality, some controller require more battery and eats up battery fast, some controller are light and ergonomic to hold, some controller have questionable tracking quality, etc.
- and of course, there's also price, premium pricing doesn't necessarily mean it's a premium headset.

And if you're interested to try out Oculus brand VR, feel free to make appointment to drop by my office/showroom, I can show you and explain more in person.
