I heard numerous bugs of compatibility of oculus with steamvr. I can see why most rift players would rather use oculus store version to play.
*
Is it because Oculus Home can launch games downloaded from Steam.
Haven't tried it yet but can SteamVR launch games downloaded from Oculus store?

Anyway, the same game on Steam (using MYR) is priced cheaper than on Oculus store (using USD) so unless its Oculus exclusive game, better buy on steam.

i just check, wmr gen 1 seems to halt production, likely preparing for gen 2. the current wmr hmd are being sold at near dirt price now from their original pricr.
*
What I read is there're reason why those cheap WMR are cheap. Samsung Odyssey WMR is also WMR but is not as as cheap as the Acer/Lenovo WMR counterpart. From reviews, the main factor that made it cheap is the screen. Example, cheap WMR have smaller screen (Acer WMR only 2.9" compared to Samsung's 3.5").

I do have a little myopia at around 300 and play without glasses.

Edit-
I guess it’s due to myopia.  Any idea if there’s anywhere in Malaysia that  develop VR lenses?
*
at 300 myopia, u definitely need to wear glasses when using VR.

Unless the glasses you're using is very big (as in the frame), else you can easily wear glasses when using the Vive. I have no problem using VR (Vive or Oculus Rift) with glasses.

Thanks for your input, looks like I need to get another pair which can fit.
I suppose I'll get another pair of glasses which is smaller to fit...

Where do you guys buy face pads? Any brick & mortar stores which I could try, or at least see the product?
Since these are quite specific to shape-face and all, I'd prefer to see what I'm buying if possible.
*
Face pads as in replacement for Vive's cushion or you looking for those white thin disposable mask sheet?

Apart from Oculus Rift, I'm also supplying Oculus Rift replacement face cushion(may or may not fit onto your Vive) as well universal VR disposable face mask.

Still looking for VR center to try out Samsung Odyssey.

Since its the PSVR style headset and it doesn't press against the face
- because different people have different head/face shape, will there be light leak? will it be wobbly when move around alot?

Controller use 2 batteries each side, meaning total 4 batteries, that's double of what Oculus Touch need.
- how is the battery life?

Not all desktop have Bluetooth 4.0 to support the controllers
- would a cheap and regular USB bluetooth adapter (those RM10/RM20 ones) work?

The hinge of the wmr will get loose over time and from what i hear, eventually wobble and dangle as the player look down.
Might be why samsung odyssey omit this flip feature.

Tracking via camera alone is poor therefore wmr depends alot on bluetooth feedbacks to estimate position. A stable bluetooth connection is required to maintain decent tracking. They are easily interfered in a congested 2.4ghz wifi environment.

Batteries last usually 4 hours. Battery bug seems to affect quite a number of users and likely related to hardware problem. It needs 1.5v batteries but 1.2v works fair for most ppl. This is a problem as most rechargable are 1.2v only...

been watching and reading quite a number of review, still cant decide until now. i guess unless i tried side by side, then i wont be able to decide which one is the best. now the only things that i can conclude is either to get the room tracking with vive or simple tracking with rift, although rift now support room tracking with additional sensor.
anybody here has both unit? hows the differences if you compare side by side?
*
There's pros and cons for both but, here's some plus point for Rift compared to Vive

- cheaper (even with 3 sensors still cheaper)
- removable batteries (no worries about battery life deterioration when aged)
- lighter and more ergonomic controllers
- smaller, simpler and lighter headset, smaller and simpler means better looking too (subjective)
- headset cable simpler than Vive
- comes with built in earphone (Vive have to add on another RM500)

And since I'm selling Oculus Rift, if you ever want to try out demo, you can contact me. Atleast you can see how insignificant the difference of tracking quality is between Rift and Vive.

bought this PU leather foam for Rift from Liang..not bad actually for the price compare to VR Cover price.
The only issue is since it used the original face plate(need to remove the sponge foam) instead of custom plate like vr cover it seems to me a bit too tight at first..but after few minute it seems ok la. Less comfort but less sweat on my face for long session game  thumbup.gif

Thanks for the quick feedback. wink.gif

i used 3 sensor on my Rift and got no tracking issue on my 2m x 2.3m play area..unless u have larger than 2.5m² area it should be no problem to track

just to add, the playarea guide based on the picture attached is on the conservative/safe side.

I've managed to set up playarea of 7' x 7' with just 2 sensor.

Went to an Esport event at APU, beat saber competition organised by Kitamen.

Seems like Vive may not be a good VR for long hours public demo use.

The controller need to be charged, meaning halfway through they'll need to charge the controllers and the VR is basically unplayable until its charged.

So unless they have another pair of controller, can't use Vive for continuous long hours use. Unlike just swapping out used battery for Oculus Touch controllers.

mostly no, but best to ask the seller, or just get it from seller who have it locally.

Hi Guys, im planning to go into VR at this time, since it is end of 2018, there are older model with cheaper price and new model just launched, which do you think it is best suitable for me

I dont have beefy computer (gtx1060), guess Pimax and Vive pro is out of the question and they both are too expensive, i only use for casual and light gaming with my girlfriend and i wear spec, below are my option and price i found online

Oculus rift - RM2099 (No warranty)
HTV Vive - RM2500 (Used but still have long warranty)
PSVR - RM1500 (I have PS4)
Samsung Odyssey + - RM4000 (last saw in Shoppee, local seem dont have seller, but still too expensive)

Which do you think is more value for money?

Thanks guys
*
Try all before u decide. Deciding from technical specs and online review can only do so much, so best if u can try it out for yourself then you'll know which one you're more comfortable with.

There's no perfect VR at the moment, each have pros and cons.

For sure, PSVR is the cheapest way to get into VR gaming, that's the reason why PSVR is the highest contributor of VR user.

So, if you're emphasising on best value for money VR? Definitely is the cheapest VR, the PSVR. But if you rather go for PC, then Oculus Rift or WMR are both the cheaper option when compared to HTC Vive.

If end of the day you decide on Oculus Rift, you're welcome to get it from me, I'm a local seller with physical dealer at lowyat plaza and provide warranty as well.

Oh ya, I'm on GTX 1060 3GB and I wear specs too, didn't face any issue. smile.gif

i was thinking about PSvr as well, however added in headset, camera plus 2 controller, it is RM1600, while i can get vive or oculus around RM2000. From what i know PSvr game is much expensive comparing like SteamVR with constant discount. Furthermore the headset and controller tracking seem much better for vive and OR.
*
easy question to ask yourself, are u more of a console gamer or PC gamer? Don't think about VR, just think now, without VR, which one u spend more time with.

My rift reach already. I felt it is much clearer than vive, although didnt try same game yet. But very difficult to wear for glasses user. Anyone bought the custom rift glasses before? How much?
*
no need custom rift glasses, the only reason its difficult to wear is because frame too big. Getting a smaller frame glasses is cheaper than buying those custom rift glasses.

remember, wear the rift like a gas mask rather than like a hat, ie. put ur eye into the headset first only pull down the strap from behind, not put the strap over your head first only push down the headset.

Planning to get myself into VR games, but thinking between the HTC Vive and oculus rift.

Is vive worth the extra buck for laser sensors, compatibility for accessories upgrade, and local warranty?
*
Few questions to ask yourself:

1. Do you want additional accessories upgrade?
Yes - HTC Vive
No - Oculus Rift

2. How big you plan to set up your play area?
Small, below 8ft x 8ft - Oculus Rift is almost 1/3 cheaper
Big - Oculus Rift is about RM500 cheaper, but HTC Vive more popular for this segment - you decide
Very Big - HTC Vive

3. What is your PC specs?
Low/Mid Spec GTX960/1050Ti - Oculus Rift Asynchronous Spacewarp(ASW) helps smoothen framerates even on lower spec PC
High Spec GTX1070/1080 - Both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift same - you decide

4. Have you tried both? Its recommended to experience the tracking, headset comfort, headphone sound, controller ergonomics and gesture, level of screen door effect, level of god rays etc. before you decide as reading/watching online reviews can sometimes be quite contradicting.

5. Laser sensor vs Constellation(camera) sensor, is it huge difference? Just as no.4 above, go try it out to and you'll find out whether worth the extra buck smile.gif
