Nice.. really appreciate your input bro... will drop by sephora tml during lunch as it is just beside my office lol to pick up a bottle and i collect enough points to redeem a 10% discount from Sephora drool.gif . Hopefully the iris will not turn plasticky like DH, as DHI to me is far superior

Still im waiting for the elusive Fahrenheit le Parfum and Dior Eau for Men....

On the other hand, i have tried Bleu de Chanel Edp... i can fairly say this is a sweeter and deeper version of the edt. i dont get the grapefruit incense trademark combo, instead i got a sweet citrus fruity opening and slowly mellow to the edt drydown.

Projection is subtle if compare to the edt, longevity same... however the price diff is marginal lol... i would go for the edp version if i dun have the edt, but if u already have the edt, the edp is redundant...

Nice one la bro

The following dialogue took place at Dior lab at grasse one fine day under my imaginary

Demachy: My fellow team members, we need to come out with something new to capture the market as well as take care our bonus

Staff A: why boss? The new releases no good?

Demachy: basenotes and fragrantica no hype kaw kaw also... Anyway who don't fancy kaw kaw bonus... We need a flanker how

Staff B: how abt commercialise the prive line well u know kan our oud ispahan and leather oud are outstanding but yet garners feedback on both extreme end. and Our DH line has always been say it is not man enough as long as we continue to develop our Tuscany Iris the lipstick way, and our DHI has been the milk cow of the company... how about more masculine version of it?

Demachy: Sounds interesting... How abt we pick the one with has the best fan base such as dhi and incorporate these two u mention. But then don't forget we reserve the best ingredient for prive line.

And such Dior homme parfum has been born. Enough of the corporate joke, let go to the main point the review of this baby../

They change the wording on the box to gold colour lol and I did compare the ingredient of this and dhi... The arrangement of ingredient is diff... Dhi: alcohol, aqua then parfum
Dhp: alcohol, parfum then water
So we can safely say dhp has a higher concentration than dhi... The flacon is nicely done... 75ml in 100ml size as u see the juice is darker and so do the scent...

I did a comparison, dhi on my left forearm, dhp on my right forearm... Before I go on, the note listed for DHP is not complete, it has more than that lol

now what do i get? opening is similar due to the DH backbone. DHI has this waxy lipstick vibe which is toned down from DH whereas DHP experienced this stage for like less than 5 mins then got this Pardon vibe ozzing out... it is drier and warmer than DHI.... then DHI continues to develop to the signature iris, cacao vanilla bomb which is very sensual.

Now as for DHP it develops into something darker... here is wat i get for DHP.... Iris, Cacao, Sandalwood, Leather, Oud and Rose.... dont worry it wont turn into the rose/oud combo.... DHP now is dark floral gourmand leather for the next 9hrs and counting lol.... everything here is dry and dark and well-blended..... no single note try to be outstanding and act like a mature pimple lol

Everyone play supporting role... the leather here is amazing... smoky par with the oud used in OI which give out a very masculine vibe. The dry iris, cacao and sandalwood moist and sweeten the leather and oud so u got this rich dark iris cacao leather...

No need to worry projection and longevity.... after 6hrs on my forearm, it still projecting 2 inch lol

Now the verdict... if u got DH/DHI, will this redundant? Sure NO!!! it is a beast of it own... easily best release of the year out winning Bvlgari Men in Black...

in terms of price almost the same, around 150 gbp for both, but NdN opened already, opus v is new one. both in 100 ml
*
if it is Opuv IV i would say go for it... Opus V is heavy spice laden with Orange Syrup... lucky i did not get the "nasi briyani' vibe that ppl were talking abt....

Ndn would be a more universally-accept scent lol.... and it is Tom Ford

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Great shout-out to bro Astroboy, thank for the swap. I really found L'eau de Navigateur a very comforting scent. As i expected, my gf found it indian'ish' and i wore to meeting today and rainy day in KL, just so cozy....

IMO, this is the best smelling from l'artisan that actually last lol... However thank god my gf love the Mon Numero Uno tat i got for her...

back to this scent, it was created back in 1979, older than me now and it smell modern. Why? coz it reminds me of Amouage Fate Man, except LdN is more moist and less sweet.

TBH, i am not a fan of incense / resin heavy frag but the smokiness, the incense, the resin here are soft and they are close friends. if dry indian spice is not ur cup of tea or u dun like the smell of chai masala then this is not ur cup of tea.

Immediately you can get this boozy spice mixed together, and this is quite linear till the end. The tobacco, leather, rum all just softly well-blended so u get this boozy, green, dry, resinous, smoky, incensy scent throughout 7-8hrs on me lol... The coffee note in here is not the one you expecting from Play intense, new haarlem kind of coffee... here it is mild roast beans where u take a long tarik, u can get a greenish roast bean vibe in LdN

I would say this deserve to be called spicebomb but then isnt it weird to call this scent L'artisan Spice Bomb??? doh.gif

All in all, this is a very masculine scent from the 80s that is still modern if you have tried Amouage Fate Man. Strawberrynet always have discount for this... I am getting interested to explore this house further.. starting from Vanila absolutement, Traversee du Balsafore, Timbuktu...

New Scent Tryout Report

2/10/2014 Thursday
Time:12.45pm
Venue: KLCC Isetan
Subject: Guerlain L'Homme Ideal (GLI)

The best part of GLI Imo is the bottle design, nuf said lol. I have high hope for this scent due to the experience with the youtube legend - LIDGE. i try two sprays on my right hand, straight off i can get a candied grapefruit opening which i get also from BdC Edp then it get sweeter partly due to the tonka bean.

The opening is quite diabetic. later in the mid, i got this MIP sweet powder rubber vibe together with the nutty almond. Fragrantica say Amaretto accord, to me wtf is amaretto i never try before also, contreau i know la lol... anyway the heart stays like this...

now, seriously is this an ideal man suppose to smell like? No.... it is just too sweet for my liking.

By far my best almond scent will still be Mandoro di Sicilia, sorry Guerlain, this release is nth like ur rich history, i rather u commercialize your Tonka Imperiale, SdV, Cuir Beluga etc etc

I'm so thrilled to find out that fragX has just restocked a discontinued scent today. It's uncommon for that to happen but it did. The scent is Habanita by Monilard in EdT concentration, which I read has been discontinued recently (a couple of years ago). However, it's still widely available on ebay and amazon. Price ranged from $47 - $77 for a 100ml bottle. Unfortunately, shipping to Malaysia was expensive and I couldn't see myself paying for it until fragX restocked it. The price fragX has is $62 for the 100ml (Lalique) bottle. Peachy floral top with dry down of vintage BaV EdC.

In addition to that, in order to celebrate my successful passing of exam and obtaining of professional certification, I've also purchased Arpege by Lanvin (EdP) together with Habanita and it's the current formulation. Have not tried the vintage version but the current one is pretty good in my book and cheap. Peachy aldehydes with some jasmine, musk and vanilla. It's my first aldehydes scent purchase. Luca Turin says it's one of the best women scents men can wear smile.gif

Sotd - Le Labo Bunga Mawar 31

A small decant tat I kept to compare between lumiere noire which one to go for. Well after that these two are worth to have side by side

The Rose is right up my face from the start to the end. It is not like those syrupy kind of Rose... More like standing in a garden u take a whiff kind of Rose... It is more prominent than lumiere noire

Thanks bro! Haha, you're one Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Glad to know that you too appreciate classic/vintage.

Good news for oud lovers out there. Frederic Malle will be releasing its first oud based scent with middle eastern theme called The Night :-
- http://perfumeshrine.blogspot.com/2014/10/...eric-malle.html

Another good news for those started to shop for x'mas gifts. StrawberryNet now has Daily Gift Set Specials. Happy shopping!

My sample of the day happens to be Fille en Aiguilles by Serge Lutens. It's basically x'mas in a bottle (Pine tree + church). On my skin and to my nose, I get pine/fir with dried fruits from Abarie and incense from Incense Avignon. Projection is below average with moderate longevity on my skin. All in all, it's a nice scent perfect for x'mas. I only wish it was a little louder.

Oh finally it is about time this niche house hop on the oud express. This is where the industry is heading every house also need to have at least one oud to represent their house.. Both designers and niches. Designers also doing quite well in the oud segment as well. Like the one I'm wearing today, Gucci oud

No doubt it is on ze expensive side of designer but if this is bottled under niche house ppl will praise solid release lol

Nevertheless I personally find oud an interesting note as it has so many facet

Chanel and Hermes when r u releasing ur oud? jCE style of oud would be very interesting

Yes, agarwood/oud does have many facets. One just have to find the right one for your nose. I tend to steer away those that smell like Arabian Oud at KLCC or Times Square (not that they are bad). I have yet to find one that works for me but I quite like the natural animalic oud essential oil. Haven't tried Dior's Leather Oud but it will be in my next sample shopping together with FM's The Night when it becomes available.

Tat one i gotta give it to you bro... notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

the animalic in oud can be take no prisoner kind to me. then u really need to try the following tat some of my fb friends send small sample for me to try last time lol...

Rania J oud Assam
Xerjoff Zafar
LM Hard Leather

they are super bardyard to me lol and triggered my gag reflexes

Good morrow my fellow frag heads,

As you all know I'm rose addict and to amplify the loveliness of Rose I did:

3 shots of oud silk mood and 1 shot rose oud

Heaven has always be so near to me lol

Was wandering what if I did not get the chance to be exposed to portrait of a lady then I will still staying in a stone cave dunno how beautiful it is lol

POAL really serves as a splendid niche rose for newbies like me wanted to explore rose the first time and then transit from there branch out to other beauties...

SOTN - By Kilian Amber Oud

user posted image

Finally i am going to review the arabian night series of kilian starting with the lightest of them - Amber oud

if u like ambre sultan and at the same time dislike the coarseness of the scent u will love this

if u like oud wood like of oud fragrance, u will also love this

if u are looking for something animalic, barnyard, u wont find it in here

Wat i get from the opening is bay and benzoin. The oud in here are close to minimal and very soft n creamy. One thing for sure is that kilian do not make oud the center stage of all his arabian nights creation other than using the name and gold platted bottle to charge higher price.

Doesnt project much n linear... but it is smooth.. treat it as a very high grade of Ambre Sultan then u are ok with it.

Rose Oud, i can just rave on n on how wonderful this blend with my eyes close and if i can tell u which is rose oud if u give me blind sniff a bunch of rose oud frags lol... other time for this one
