QUOTE(jarcmercier @ Nov 7 2014, 01:59 PM)
Long time no post.  Time always issue nowadays (& costs as well).  Small purchases here & there over the 1 yr.  Just wana share my latest purchase.  Bro t0n3 has reviewed most of the scents fr this interestingly creative line some time ago & many of us here already well-awared of this line.  Anyway, Keep it "short & straight to the point".  tongue.gif  Imaginary Authors by Josh Meyer.

Bought Memoirs of a Trespasser using the 10% disc offer weeks ago. Been gunning for this & knew the offer would come 1 day as same offers were given for other scent in the line.  Received within 2 weeks with personal note from melissa (Josh's assistance i presumed), a MOAT bookmark & 2 free samples - Mosaic & Yesterday Haze (Their latest & 10th release).  Unfortunately, i have no luck in enjoying these 2 sample as both sample bottles have already broken in pieces (which the small plastic bag was soaked wet inside with intriguing combo of both juices).
Emailed to IA saying i received the order & on the broken sample bottles.  Didnt ask for replacemt samples as they were complementary in the 1st place.  Josh Meyer replied & said he will send samples to me right away....i received them in 1 week time (express postage of course).  Totally appreciated such kind gesture, personal touch & service. And he sent me 5 samples !! Mosaic, Yesterday Haze, Cape Heartache, The Soft Lawn & The Cobra & The Canary...., another personal note & MOAT bottle label sticker  rclxms.gif

I'm totally suck in reviewing & no skills whatsoever in describing notes, so just some simple "feel' from me :-

(1) MOAT  - warmth, cozy, balanced slight sweetness, simply wonderful.  LIKE / For COLD Weather / My girl : YES YES

(2) Mosaic - Refreshing, cooling ...ooooyaaaaa,  LIKE / For HOT weather / My girl : Mayb YES la

(3) The Soft Lawn - Fresh green relaxing. LIKE / For HOT weather / My girl : OK nia

(4) The Cobra & The Canary - Leather leather Alcohol Alcohol , Pungent,  2 Faces of hmmm...nice & huh...eeeee.  NO LIKE / For COLD weather / My girl : NO la

(5) Yesterday Haze - Very Creamy Milky,  Deliciously Edible.  LIKE / For COLD & mayb HOT weather too (Not steamy hot la) / My girl : YES. I WANT EAT TOO.

(6) Cape Heartache - Slight creamy, fresh fruit sweet.  LIKE / For COLD weather / My girl : OK lo.
The one thing i LIKE abt this line is that for all these 6 scents, they are all wearable & u are not going to get weird-negative responses from others....unlike some "unique" niche perfumes.  I'm not into very bold, daring, animalic scents, so it matters a lot if others dun like how i smell.  I totally respect & salute the "i dun care what u all think of how bad i smell but i like it anyhow even if its only me & me alone"  notworthy.gif .  Well, at the end of the day, we all just want to smell good & acceptable...forget the saying of being "generic" , unique or not.

Again, as many of bros here have advised many times already, please sample & test test test whenever u can before buying.  Need to spent $$$ wisely nowadays.  Each scent will smell & react differently on each indv skin & also each person will have different opinion on the same scent.

Cheers to all & happy weekend !!

international shipping in fragrancex.com is around RM50+, would rather get locally?

there seems to be mixed reviews for CK One, some say it have poor longetivity some say it is alright.
who to believe hahha. sad.gif anyway it is around 6 hours ish which is considered ask okay right?
*
Believe ur skin... U can just drop by to any ck counter n try on ur skin, no nid to feel oblige to buy after trying...

6-7 hours consider not bad already and in fact just nice for me coz when after work dinner can shower n put on another scent..

Just curious, ain't Chanel Coco EdP for females? laugh.gif

Or izzit unisex?  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
It is marketed towards the female market however it is masculine enough for men to wear just tat it is tad too balsamic for me to digest

Most of the chanel women are unisex IMO, I like no5 eau premiere, no19 poudre, 31 rue cambon, coromandel etc

For me I will not put a gender on any perfume and I have a few female frag in my coll ie black orchid, epic women,

Men can wear floral very well... And if u explore the niche side further most of the releases are unisex

Hehe give it a try

I can't agree more with the above statement - it is the state of mind.

I am so in love with the MFK Lumiere Noire Pour Femme - it performs a lot more better than the Pour Homme version.
*
i tried both.. pour femme have more kick, tat i agree nod.gif

just abit too skank for me to wear... i am halfway past my pour homme bottle

Haha agree with u bro on that... There are plenty of sandalwood out there which are better than this... Vetiver extrodinaire, French lover n Eau de magnolia are solid ones... And I like their perfume gun as well

I managed to try 3 diff kind of sandalwood during my hk trip, santal blush, tam dao edp n santal majuscule... I still prefer chanel Bois de iles parfum lol

Thanks for ur kind words bro.. For the moment,I'll stick to TF if possible,Restrain myself from wasting money getting those scent that i like at the first sight.. Need more time to testing before getting another flacon..
Trying new samples given from suppliers.
A bit skeptical.. Will input at end of the day smile.gif
Happy Sniffing and sampling everyone!

i cant agree more... testing is a must before making any significant purchase

One thing i like about niche is that they standardize those bottles to one design.. such as TF, FM, Le Labo, Kilian, Amouage etc... they are eye candy if u have more than one from the same house lining side by side

I admit i cant stick to only one bottle of frag and finish it then move on to new ones as now i get them coz i love the scent and when they line up they do make a very nice decorative display on my glass cabinet tongue.gif especially the green juice in my kilian refill just beautiful to look at

Only go for quality over quantity my strategy for the year of 2015... I am thinking to get my hands on the highly rated Parfums MDCI - Invasion Barbare and Chypre Palatin; Chanel Cuir de Russie and Bois de Iles

Anyone tried L'Homme Yves Saint Laurent ? Tried sniffing it at sephora and it smells really good, but the price is a little too expensive, was wondering are there any similar perfumes?

Bro l'homme is one of the best designer floral for men... It is very nice. Now is Christmas so major store have sets which is more value for money

If u like it just go ahead.

Yo Meri Kurismas and Hapi New year to all my fellow friends and family..

2015 is just a week away, and i decided to thicken my face and paiseh-ly post my best hauls of 2014.

Kilian A Taste of Heaven - My best lavender with a touch of green absinthe and vanilla, signature scent of mine... very formal

Kilian Prelude to Love - Neroli Portofino opening and develops to powdery neroli iris leather

Gucci Oud - Anything with Rose/Oud/Leather sure kills me... very easy to wear rose oud combo and it is my fav type where Rose 80% Oud 20%

Amouage Ciel Man - Resting on the table symbolise carefree, freedom... citrus frankincense lavender suits well with polo-t, khakis and boat shoe

Amouage Gold Man - This is to me Chanel no5 pour homme... Floral, baby powder and smear of civet

Burberry London - i admit i am way very late into this one. My fav tobacco along side Chergui and Back to Black

Acqua di Parma Colonia Oud - Citrus Oud... edc concentre that pack super power punch, very versatile

Cartier Declaration d'Un Soir - Poor man's Le Labo Rose 31, strong peppery rose...

Memo Siwa - I am quite defensive when comes to vanilla as it can be very gourmandish sometimes, this my friend is the best soft milky floral sweet vanilla that is not gourmand and oooze luxury and very well done. This encourage me to search for more superb vanilla scents next year

Shoot... i left this one out of my pic, did not meant to----- Dior Homme Parfum - This is my Nasomatto Pardon.. the 30ml extrait is not wallet friendly

Drumroll... the last but not least... the very steal of the year.....

Davidoff Leather Blend - this sucker 100ml edp costs only RM190 from Jusco... Mega Steal of the year... best of davidoff since coolwater period imo... it draws inspiration from TF Tuscan Leather, ADP Colonia Leather and Dior Oud Ispahan.

This is no doubt is pure leather scent.. kaw kaw... very linear... opens with saffron infused jammy rose spread across a piece of leather which is being cured under the smoky oud chips... the drydown is insane... 80% resembles Dior Oud Ispahan...

All leather / rose / oud lovers please grab one of these as Germany Airport and middle east selling @ USD100 for a bottle.. do the maths lol

Now what are yours best haul in 2014?

2014 has been an exciting year for me as my taste has evolved into more challenging animalic/classic floriental and chypre. Thanks to the support of my fellow fragheads, my collection is still kept at manageable level. I wish you all a blessed new year ahead! My heartfelt condolences goes to victims and families of QZ8501 and flood in East Coast of West Malaysia. Hopefully 2015 will bring us good lucks and health.

Happy new year to you bro. biggrin.gif This year not really a good year to be remembered in our nation's history.

However i need to congratulate and respect you... venture into the realm of the gurus where animalic and classic vintage are still no no to my nose....

Hope to see more of your sharing next year and god bless

Haha retries several Le Labo samples that i gotten from Bro Izam sometime back in 2014 hehe... i bet he is still in his heaven honeymoon tongue.gif

Overall i feel Le Labo is neither outstanding nor lacklustre, its fame success partly due to the gimmicky bottle in front of you when u wanna buy it.

Iris 39 - Purple rooty powdery musk and i can get the lime, ginger supporting it. It is cold, rooty, waxy like of iris. Nicely done, however for cold / powdery iris i would still go for either Chanel N19 Poudre or FM Iris Poudre

Vetyver 46 - To me this is just dark, incensy vetiver.... the ideal encre noire and i like it more than sycomore. but this fella reminds me of Comme des Garcons 2 Man.

Bergamotte 22 - Neroli Portofino smile.gif one of the better longevity bergamot/neroli you can get in the market. much wallet friendly compare to TF

Rose 31 - Im biased with this one. i love this sh!t and will replace my Cartier Declaration with this once i ran out of Cartier. The rose is everywhere from the top to drydown.. and much easier to detect compare to MFK Lumiere Noire PH. This and MFK, you wont go wrong... totally signature worthy

going forward i will be sharing lots of perfume quick takes when i feel lazy to do a full review...

so for today will be doing this one from Prada - King of Soapy Scent, their Luna Rossa.

When it came out i did not bother to give it a sniff as the bottle look so un-luxury, in fact cheapie... Came across internet where ppl linked the extreme as cheaper alternative of Tobacco Vanille, hence during lunch i went to Sephora near my office look see look see however they do not have the extreme, just the normal.

watever so i did one spray on my back right hand the luna rossa, man it is nice minty orangy lavender. Clean, soapy (very less compare to Prada Amber). The lavender here surely is very high quality lavender absolute, has the vibe of Czech and Speake Oxford and Cambridge but the diff is the mint in prada more cooling and the base is hold together by ambroxan (synthetic amber) which overall very nice modern fougere. longevity 7hrs and nice sillage, average on the projection.

IMO one of the best lavenders in the market not including niche. Wanna try lavender but dunno where to start, look here

Haha nice haul everyone.

The adp is the steal of the show i think due to the low demand and brand visibility. My oud i bought at 590 lol

I hereby very shy to show my recent haul

Tom Ford Noir and ADP Fico di Amalfi

Yes i know i say paphi and noir similar but i just keep drawn into tom ford signature vanilla, amber combo drydown. It is overall a powdery slightly musky vanilla scent.

It is not something u find love immediately. Right now i find it is a modern masterpiece. My current signature scent as one of my sensual scent as well if you see my instagram.

Subtle projection make it even my taste as i dont like ppl from far to smell me lol. I have l'occitan edv, nice smokey, MR skanky, sdv too sweet. And i bought it because klia 2 has 10% discounts for tom ford, too bad they only carry neroli portofino, if not noir de noir already.

Fico, how i dont like it, one of the best fig you can get in the market nowadays. it cleverly avoid the coconut aspect of the fig and blend it with italian citrus... Luxasia sales thanks hida for the favour, owe you big time

Currently have been wearing tf noir for a week everyday, signature scent for sure.
