Has anyone successfully bought fragrance from FragranceNet?
They seem to have the best price for designer brand.

Sadly our country is not listed in their supported shipping destinations.
*
fragrancenet, i heard alot of negative comments from the buyers from CONUS... u still can try fragranceX, strawberrynet, Essenza Nobile, Luckyscent, First in Fragrance

Thanks for the recommendations guys.

Now I am in dilemma: MFK Oud or Colonia Oud. One is RM800 and the latter at RM650.....
*
bro... these are 2 diff oud.... MFK oud is the best saffron oud combo by far imo..... sweet, smooth, oud but it does not have the stinky facet of the oud smile.gif Colonia oud... on the other hand it is a very versatile fresh oud.. typical colonia citrus opening which lead to oud and leather....

of these two, MFK OUD win hands down, but the best from MFK will be Oud Silk Mood smile.gif

Newest member in my collection - SMN Ambra
Lucky enough to have found the only one bottle from a US eBay seller at cheaper price of $95. Shipping was $16.75 via USPS without tracking# and it was delivered after 3 weeks.

The retail price on US online stores for SMN Ambra (100ml EdC) is $125 :-
- http://www.santamarianovellausa.com/produc...ml#.U6qQN3KSz_E
- http://www.aedes.com/Ambra_p_527.html

Unfortunately both don't ship to Malaysia.

SMN store in Hong Kong is selling it for HKD$950, which is around RM410+ after conversion :-
- http://www.ifc.com.hk/en/mall/detail.jsp?id=308

Fell in love with it after sampling from a decant I ordered from STC. Below is a review about it I posted on Fragrantica a while ago :-

It opens up with eucalyptus-like herbaceous accord with birch tar in the background. The birch tar starts to come forward after 10 mins and slowly dominates the scent as time passes. Amber only reveals itself towards the dry down. Projection is moderate (arm's length), which is pretty good for an EdC. Longevity is moderate on my skin.

The herbaceous accord is very reminiscent to amber colored Refreshing Rainbath by Neutrogena and Frankincense & Myrrh room/body mist by Zum Mist, which I own and enjoy using.

Some say it reminds them of Lonestar Memories by Tauer Perfumes, which I have a FB of but I see very little resemblance except for the prominent birch tar note.

If you like birch tar and Rainbath shower gel, you will definitely like this.

welcome to the le labo club! No doubt the bottling experience is something really unique.
*
yup i truely agree... experience is nothing we can never put a price on it smile.gif

finally 1H14 ended, damn busy with the closing... finally can breathe edi... Tone, nice le labo flex.gif rclxms.gif rclxm9.gif

last weekend was at kl for meeting and managed to squeeze a bit wee time to sniff the elusive hermessence line

Hermessence. Sense, essence, essential. The essence of Hermes and the very soul of perfume. A collection of olfactory poems, with sobriety and intensity, which freely explore new facets of emotion. Nature reinvented, unexpected and poetic. Unique and surprising associations of the most noble elements of perfumery.

Jean-Claude Ellena, perfumer to the house of Hermes, has created this collection of fragrances for both men and women which touch the heart and speak directly to the senses.

in other word, u will have to be a fan of minimalist art work by JCE, he is really a masterclass perfumer.. i fell in love with his touch after i gotten bigarade concentree. ya i know kinda bored but then do let me continue a few lines before i go to the next agenda...

Even though Hermes gave JCE take the lead and no new Hermessence launch unless JCE give an 'ok' signal but it is still abit constrain compared to what have he created for Frederic Malle... BC can last on me though out the day, and my female colleagues and friends say i smell nice... Hermessence.. spoiler ahead... well i like his approach of "man, u smell nice" rather than "yo, ur perfume smell nice"

so i went to Hermes in Gardens where i gotten my first bel ami, the SA recognize me lol... and i bite the bullet went for the travel gift set consist of 4x15ml spray.. (a very smart marketing move).. and Hermes is very generous with their samples... when i say generous.. it is generous

Attached Image
look on how they pay attention to small detail... on the travel set

Attached Image
the spray vial is in an individual pouch... the sample is 4ml vial... more on that later

Attached Image
after i strip them naked and do a group photo...

Attached Image
close up on my SOTD

one word can sums up their presentation... luxury...

after a few days dosing myself with them, i realise that JCE wanna portrait a discreet, luxury scent to a group of consumers who is i) ppl who dont care abt the price, just wan the orange bag or ii) JCE fan.. well i am the later

yes the ones that i choose are: Osmanthe Yunnan, Iris Ukiyoe, Santal Massoia, Epice Marine, as for samples: Vanille Galante, brin de reglisse, amber narguile... no rose??? well they ran out of stock, if not my first choice would be Rose Ikebana lol

do explore this line only if and only if longevity is not ur concern... notice the word "dosing" i mention just now... these babies have problem go past the 5th hr, if u lucky 6th hour doh.gif but the scent quality.. impeccable.

This line is perfect for Malaysia climate, light, airy, transparent, wont offend, compliment getter, unique.. Eventually the four will be FBW in my collection... i look past the longevity issues and i can wear 2-3 frags a day which is pretty good lol... i know it is kinda long... i will put up individual review of the scent later but i can summary:

Osmanthe Yunnan - Sweet Apricot Tea
Epice Marine - Salty sea breeze at coast beside pier on an early morning
Santal Massoia - milky, creamy sandalwood
Iris Ukiyoe - Iris petal water with orange blossom

i think i better stop here... update later thanks for spending time reading such long essay

Whao! How much was it? Didn't know you're a big fan of JCE now. I have a book written by him - The Diary of a Nose. I only received one 1.5ml sample vial of my choice from Le Labo.
*
quite decent... i got the set at 508... i still feel his work with FM the best... it is not a good thing being his fan....

QUOTE(attacusatlas @ Jun 27 2014, 10:33 PM)
nice haul there. i only get to know JCE when I made a purchase of FM angeliques sous la pluie at paris last year. the sales assistant showed me his photo and told me about his creation. she spent almost an hr chatting with me. i never knew parisian can be so friendly.....

haha Angeligues can fight for the shortest-lived scent...

Haul of the classic - Shalimar by Guerlain
Luca Turin calls it the reference oriental. I was totally ignoring it all this while after I first sniffed it two years ago. It put me off with the old lady vibe. My nose wasn't ready yet I should say. After my sampling last time round I grew to love it. Partly has to thank Musc Ravageur too, which I love and shares some similarities with Shalimar.

I got my 90ml EdP from a LYN seller for RM240. He was kind enough to give me free PosLaju shipping after I identified myself as a regular of this perfume forum thread.

I know my crappy Ipad camera doesn't do this legend justice but here goes anyway.

Yea the weather is really unpredictable recently. Without realising my amouage line is slowing expanding.

Amouage Ciel Man is amouage showing creed that they can do fresh floral scent a tad better.

Rose lavendar bergamot forms the tart floral trinity opening... Slowly the creamy sandalwood n amouage signature frankinsence, nutmeg n spices holding the base...

Im amazed that how easy n versatile is ciel man... Very beautiful fresh floral for men... user posted image

Yup. Its all indv preference.  IMO, as i have worn the 'old' EN, i loved it for the depth primarily which it was famed for & the many times more projection & sillage it possessed on my skin than the current version.  No doubt its still 1 if the better vetiver scents but it has lost its sparks & identity.
*
So sad to hear abt that... Really disappointing when they dilute or weaken the scent.

Yup.. Totally all is abt individual preference and individual percieved value. And end of the day it is you who decide ur own scent profile n interest. We cant force ppl to like a genre that he or she do not find fond in.

Well im surprise with the journey and my nose development along the way...

Thanks Lene! I should be getting my decant of vintage Shalimar from decantshop.com next Monday.
Tried all the different concentrations (extrait, EdP and EdT), I prefer the EdT for the brighter citrus/lavender on top but I must say it's pretty much a skin scent. It's my scent of the day today.

Bro, happy for ur purchases.. Envy that guerlain click so well with u, huhu. Only one tat allow me to enjoy is lidge...
