SOTD: Chanel Pour Monsieur
A very classic scent that goes into the powdery gentleman category. Starts off with a very dry bergamot and ends with a powdery, slightly spicy scent with hints of sandalwood.
some members here may find that this scent reminds them of the indian barbers. LOL

QUOTE(geforce1999 @ Aug 2 2013, 11:45 AM) Hi all, new on this thread and need advice from all… Thinking of getting one Eau De Perfume for Men, what would you all suggested as I always blame Eau De Toilette not being able to last long. I have used many in the past, would appreciate your honest opinion/suggestion base on my colognes in the past as listed below. Thanks in advance for the help! CK Eternity (still using now) CK Aqua CK Contradiction CK One CK Eternity Aqua Hugo Boss Hugo Hugo Boss Selection Hugo Boss Pure Hugo Boss Energise (three times) Hugo Boss Elements Aqua Hugo Boss No.6 Hugo Boss Boss Elements Hubo Boss Boss Mont Blanc Legend (still using now) Mont Blanc Starwalker Giorgio Armani Acqua Issey Miyake cant’ remember the name but with long tall glass boxy bottle and top portion is solid filled with solid glass… used it long time ago… Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Kenzo Pour Homme Tommy Hilfiger Tommy Cologne Tommy Hilfiger Colors Gucci Envy Ralph Lauren Romance Silver Etc…. Dont be fooled into thinking that all EDPs last longer. They last longer, but it goes closer to the skin due to the higher concentration of oils = you wont smell it after a while. All perfumes, EDT or EDP both have almost the same lasting power, but what makes them different is the intensity of the scent and how long it lingers around (NOT last). Most perfumes would require you to use the same one daily for a few months before it 'lasts'. Whether or not it lasts also depends on how you spray it: spray it on chest, neck, and on shirt if you want it to last. There are some EDPs that are truly strong like amouage but not every EDP will last/are strong. Some do not last at all.

if you're looking for an aquatic fragrance that actually lasts, try cool water or aqua di gio
most HB and CK scents would also last due to the high concentration of synthetic materials.
but seriously, spray some on your shirt and not just on chest. It makes it last a lot longer. Trust me.

QUOTE(pakjerung @ Aug 17 2013, 11:51 AM) i see. is there any way for me to get fragrance from sites don't do international shipping? like parcel fowarding or something? You could try parcel forwarding, but personally i wouldnt because you have to pay extra for that. I'd rather that it be shipped directly to me and find some seller that does ship to malaysia. 90% of my scents are purchased online.

QUOTE(kenny.kL @ Aug 18 2013, 03:34 PM) Tried Diptyque Philosykos today. Liked it very much but unfortunately does not seem to project, has poor longevity and sillage. Scent itself is beautiful. Loved the scent alot. Any similar fragrances which is stronger and last longer ? Thanks alot guys. use more. and spray on clothes. Thats how you get a shy scent to last.

QUOTE(attacusatlas @ Aug 18 2013, 05:55 PM) How did you guys do it? I can't seem to be able to add anything.... you need to search for the perfume, then click i own this. basically a ripoff of basenotes' concept and not surprisingly, the folks at basenotes hate them. But it is way more well done than BN.

QUOTE(t0n3 @ Aug 18 2013, 05:36 PM) Haha... of coz it doesn't imply that I've the money to burn either. Some were the result of my early impulsive and blind buying. believe it or not but 75% of the perfumes i have are 2nd hand. unfortunately due to the &^%*^*( regulations in the states where they cannot ship perfumes overseas, my options are now limited

QUOTE(kenny.kL @ Aug 19 2013, 11:06 AM) Hi bro, Yes i tried edp as well. Edp is slightly stronger than edt but not much. Edt is more transparent and light, edp is slightly more concentrated/darker. But both does not last long. Edp on me is weaker than Chanel Eau extreme. Edt is like bodymist or a weak ADG. In less than an hour, Both becomes skin scent, edp a stronger skin scent. In 2-3 hours, i cant detect anything at all. But the opening is lovely The price from Ken's bangsar if i remember, Edt 50ml - rm295 100ml - rm379 Edp 50ml - rm 450 most of dyptique's scents are meant for you to use a lot. It's a marketing ploy. So just use more. But the scents are richer and fuller compared to designer brands.

oh oh, Diptyque released 2 of my fave scents in EDP! http://www.luckyscent.com/shop/section/1/i..._de_Parfum.htmlQUOTE A familiar yet reinvented interpretation, with accentuated, enhanced major notes... the Eau de Parfum expresses itself with even more personality, audacity, intensity and tenacity. Here, with Tam Dao, the star ingredient, sandalwood from Mysore, is of exceptional quality. In the EDP version, Ginger, Tahiti lime, and the coconut accord emphasize the creamy smooth facet of Mysore sandalwood, resulting in a milky, woody creamy concoction. QUOTE A familiar yet reinvented interpretation, with accentuated, enhanced major notes... the Eau de Parfum expresses itself with even more personality, audacity, intensity and tenacity. Here, the star ingredient, Vanilla bourbon from Madagascar, is a richer, deeper interpretation of bourbon vanilla married with a vanilla pod infusion. And to top it all off, the intensity is made more powerful with incense and amber, resulting in a sensual, rounded vanilla with animalic and leather facets. must have both......rawr

QUOTE(t0n3 @ Sep 2 2013, 05:21 PM) I do have to agree with lene002. Don't go bankrupt over this. I'm saying this as an ex-scentoholic I thought you're still a fragaholic? Hahah went to sg last week and managed to smel the legendary spirituese double vanille by Guerlain (yes, tangs there has tom ford and guerlain exclusives) and IT IS MINDBLOWING!! (That is, if you are a huge vanilla fan). Jean Paul Guerlain created this scent based on what he smelled in a sundry store in madagascar during one of his visits to Guerlain's vanilla farms. The scent starts off with natural vanilla...so it is quite soft and toned down. However, a few hours later, its true colors emerge and a strong mixture of booze, spice and incense boosts the vanilla without distorting it too much. And it stays that way for the rest of the day. if you think eau duelle is a good vanilla scent, this one makes eau duelle smells like bodyshop's vanilla.

QUOTE(edwardleong @ Sep 2 2013, 10:02 PM) Haha.. Envy your experience there but then with the USD250 price tag... Vanilla Absolument is a good alternative and cost half of SDV i dont really like vanilla as the main protagonist in my perfume, rather prefer them to act as supporting role, blend all notes together, sweet n smooth... for me, vanilla is a very interesting scent to capture as it has many facets, coupled by the fact that scents that use actual vanilla is rare and hard to find as most scents use benzoin (expensive scents) or vanilin (....body shop vanilla) to mimic vanilla. If you have smelled actual vanilla essence before or actual vanilla pods before, you'll know that the scent is very different and very complex compared to vanilin, although it is not strong at all.
