Hi guys, sorry for not going through the thread. personally i am a bit picky, so i would like to test out the sound to see if i like it before i buy an earphone. is there any place that allow testing before purchase in KL?

my budget is RM150 ~ 250. would like to buy in-ear earphone for running/normal time.
p/s: i am not "Technical" music listener. so i dont know wat impedance or sensitivity. i only know i like it or not when i listen biggrin.gif

Jaben @ Subang or E1 Audio @ Sungei Wang.

For your iem selection, may I know what is your music preference? smile.gif smile.gif

QUOTE(farisq @ Aug 18 2014, 01:09 PM)
Not many choice for your budget... maybe can check second hand JVC or Brainwavz.
*
Or some used Superlux like the HD681B, HD668B, HD330.

Thx for the suggestion! will checkout Jaben soon.
i listen to pop song, anime song, anime ost.
for anime song, usually it tend towards more bass. but i like "original" sound. dont like bass boasting earphone.
do you have any recommendation for 150 ~ 250 in-ear earphone?

i actually like apple handsfree that kind of sound. but i don think in-ear will have that kind of sound.
*
Based on your price backet,
Upper range, VSonic VSD3S.
Lower range, VSonic VSD1S.

I was about to recommend the Audio Technica ATH-CKM500 to you because of my past experience with my J-pop/J-rock (anime) tracks, i found that they are really good except sometimes the mid bass is a little overwhelming (I usually EQ it). But since you say you doesn't like bass emphasizing IEM, so yeah wink.gif
Same goes to Audio Technica ATH-IM50/70, try to get chance to audition them to see if you like them.

Audio Technica really so reputable? I tried my sis one, SGD80 come with mic, the sound isnt very impressive. I honestly dont think it worth that price. But will check it out since many ppl recommending it biggrin.gif  rclxms.gif

With mic? probably some sub-par model line from Audio Technica. blush.gif You gotta know good brand doesn't mean all of their products are good.

Question : Should I get dt880 ? If yes 250ohm or 600ohm?

rig : cube c30 mp3 player , xiaomi3 , laptop , desktop
amp : Fiio E11 , Fiio E7 , Shoyun 306a , asus U1
headphone : ms2i, q701, AD900X , Denon D2000 driver with cap ayam casing
earphone : Cube F1, tdk-ba200, Vsonic VSD1

music : prefer song with less bass. most enjoy warmth and soft music. But most of the time k-pop, english hit song, anime song

reason for dt880 : wanted to look for a comfortable headphone that I can put on long time also will not feel like it is there. haha. Currently, even AD900X , maximum I only can use it for 4 hours.
*
DT880 600ohm is better choice against the 250ohm variance, you're not using a DAC? or only the E7?
I suggest upgrade your DAC/AMP after you got the DT880 600ohm. smile.gif

Any other more comfort headphone around this range other than dt880?

Yea, only E7, most of the time is desktop->E7->306a

What amp will you recommend? Since it need drive so many different headphone @@ Do I need ask this question on the DAC recommendation thread?
*
Sennheiser HD600 is less dark and has very neutral sound. Also very comfortable smile.gif
Well.. i suggest upgrade your dac instead of amp, 306a is decent but E7 is a little bottlenecked.

Hi

Sorry not asking out of format

Is there how many version of Xiaomi Piston ?
The RM50 previously on sale at www.mi.com is which version ?
Also , any review on it ?
*
No idea for the one selling on mi.com, but i suppose they should be selling the latest version.
There's 3 version to be exact, and one latest version variation.
Version 1.0 - No vent hole, silver colour only (avoid this one)
Version 2.0 - There's a vent hole, better finishing, and silver/gold coloured.
2.1 Variance - IF Commemorative Edition, diff package with IF logo,.

For the reviews, just google.. there is plenty of them.

Hei guys need some advice on buying earbuds for my cous's girlfriend on her birthday. Budget is RM200 max and below. I am very inexperience in budget purchases, as i am normally more acquainted with higher end purchases, but no offence. The only thing that comes to mind is the xiaomi piston and RE400 (2nd hand), are there any bang-for-buck more options here? I don't  think sound signature is a problem, as i don't think she's looking to be an audiophile. Anything decent will be fine, as long as no boom boom earbuds that bleed into the mids. Please enlighten me Sifus out there  notworthy.gif
*
I think the Xiaomi piston is really good and cheap. Not to tell it has a good looking as well. smile.gif

My Rig: phone, computer
- Type of usage: music, video editing, gaming
- File format: mp3, flac, aac, ogg
- Music genre: all
- Budget: 0-100, 101-150, 151-200, and 201-250 (give me 4 recommendations based on the 4 tier price)
- Headphone/ earphone type: headphone over ear  (no prefer iEM)
- Other requirements (if any): less than 200 gram (light and comfortable for long usage something similar to Sony MDR-10 comfort), portable.
*
You mean MDR-1R comfort? (I concur its very comfortable)
0-100 - Superlux HD681B/HD668B
101-150 - Superlux HD330
151-200 - Still... HD330. (for me)
201-250 - Audio Technica ATH-M30x
They are nothing like MDR-1R comfort (consider the price), but they are comfortable at their own level tongue.gif

More lively compared to EPH100.
If you like a little warmth/balanced sound for your Rock, you can try SE215LTD. blush.gif

Chill bro... I wasn't around for days but now I'm back for giving recommendation.
To your topic,
Superlux HD330, better cable and also better sound compared to HD668B. rclxms.gif
If you're looking a long replacement cable, can actually look around in Hi-Fi shop for a 3.5mm to 3.5mm extension.

You're welcome. By the way, it is worth that the HD330 to be paired with a better DAC/AMP to unleash its potential. I find it improve and scale well with equipment.

I don't exactly mean those good condenser/dynamic mic. It can be some RM10 microphone from your local computer shop tongue.gif
It might be your ground looping electrical noises, or EMI from nearby object (mobile phones)

*
Ground looping.. actually i dont quite understand but from what i know, its a electrical connection issue, or can say like "dirty" electricity. Sometimes I have it when my family turned on the air-conditional, then I tried to use any battery-based player to avoid that noise lol.
Even like feet touching the ground could increase the beep noise. doh.gif

I heard from my friend that dedicated power block which source the power to our rigs works well.. gotta try it someday.

HD381F - Mid-centric IEM, pretty good for vocal-based tracks. So-so for rock and so on..
Xiaomi Piston v2 - All-rounder IEM, slightly warm sound. smile.gif

No second thought. Get the Flux in-ear, I certainly surprised when SteelSeries has offered this IEM because of their Sound Quality is superior around the price range. biggrin.gif Get the Flux Pro if you could.
