Hi there guys and gals,

Next month I'll be visiting Malaysia and Bali (and Gili).

Do anyone of you know where I can book a fishing trip? Me and some friends from Holland want to go sea fishing around Bali or Gili. Any suggestions are welcome?

You can google a bit to find the operators. For example, http://sportfishingbali.com/

Hi Guys,
i just got back from bali with my girlfriend. awesome place to go if you want a romantic and relaxing trip.
i am here just to share some experience and advice for you guys.
here are some tips and advices for you :
1) make sure you get a good hotel as the highlights of my trips are the hotels there. its simply beautiful. and just for your info, you cant get any hotel like that in malaysia with that kind of price you pay.
be sure to check out vila lumbung ( cheap and good ) 10 minutes from kuta and legian. very beautiful. around rm200 per night maybe cheaper.
skip hard rock if possible as i find it really overpriced for an old hotel.
another one not to be missed and its just next to the beach is santika beach superb to the max. trust me no regrets on this one. best location. i got upgraded to a bungalow that day so nice. other days are private villa. dont stay in rooms like hotel unless very budget. if you have more money go nusa dua hotel, but i think the location not so good. no night life and you wont have anything to do after dinner. generally be sure to get kuta or legian area.

2) get a guide if possible if you want to travel to different parts of bali. but my advice is not to cramp too much activity into the itinerary if you days there are short. for example, i went there for 5 days 4 nights, i went to ubud, kintamani and tanah lot , nusa dua and kuta area. i only find kuta, legian and tanah lot worth going as for example the kintamani trip is wayyyyy to long, take around 3 hours from kuta. lets say back and forth you have wasted half day traveling in car. a guide will bring you around to silver factory, batik making , painting shop etc on the way, but seriously, nothing great, its really an rip off if you were to buy things from there. so my advice is if you were to buy souvenirs, buy in geneva which is just 5 minutes from villa lumbung.
try my guide, awesome and cool guy, very very cheap rate. he is brother of johny, the popular guide in lowyat. lol . johny is like the boss there and he just arrange other driver for you even if you call him earlier as he is busy. try my guide, WAYAN +6281338612213 thumbup.gif
he drives safely and speaks good english. very nice guy. he will bring you to anywhere you want to. and he stays in kuta, so, fast service.
he charges me Rp 300000 for full day 10 hours - 12 hours up to you. and rp 175000 for half day 6 hours.

3) skip kintamani and the besakih temple if you want. nothing great. too much time spent there. but if you want be sure to stay nearby like ubud.
santi mandala is a good choice. the other places are ok. nice view.

4) when leaving make sure you have rp175000. hahah.. i have to borrow from gf , finish my money. airport tax .

5) bring a good camera and takes lotsa pictures. tanah lot is like heaven. of ya. book hotels at least 1 month in advance to avoid disappointment. you wont believe how popular are nice hotels. try booking by asiarooms.com or pyotravel.com.my

6) a good place and fun place to drop by is water bom! its a place where the wave hits the stone. huge wave like tsunami. so awesome.. see people wet. a must go in my opinion.

7)go to bebek bengil at night for dinner. so nice the duck, missing it. only rm 20 like that. cannot remember. nice ambience.
have a good trip. remember only shop in ubud market and geneva. cheaper. anything ask my guide, he will advice you.
bali ultimate place to go for romantic and unforgetable trip. my gf and i definately bond a lot closer when we are there. wink.gif

Have fun!

Bro,

Sounds like you are advising us to go on free and easy, then choose the local guide. I was planning to take the full board package but now maybe want to change it.

Also, there are some who said that it is cheaper to arrive there and just walk in. can get cheaper rates, true? What was your rate for the santika beach? Going in november.

Thanx

Does anyone know any budgeted motel below rm20 per person per day?

We are planning to visit Bali next year with around 30++ of us for graduation trip.

Any idea where to stay with that budgeted price??

Hi joivyhn,

My answers below:

1) When I went in a group, we use average RM80 per day (for transport + entrance fee + food + little bit of shopping) each person. I brought RM700 but I didn't buy a lot of stuffs. More if you like shopping.

2) Yes must have Rp150k per person for the airport tax. Else if convert RM or USD then u rugi cos they might round up and you end up paying more than Rp150k.

3) Bargain all the way for things there including at the roadside foodstall. Even at the roadside corn seller also you can bargain. At some restaurants you tell them you do not need the receipt and they can waive the service tax etc.
