How long???
*
2 - 3 hours i think. nothing to do.. sit in the car till we zzz.... and the view up there is really great. but.. buffet is cold. I guess for first timers, it's a must. Just so, you'll see the volcanic crater and all..

Anyway, it's like I said, if given a choice, I'd prefer uluwatu. The cliff's are simply amazing, just watch out for the monkeys.

HOw' ur tour like? Self DIY and book a driver? or follow a proper tour group kind of thing?
I personally find it more fun/flexible to book a driver and get him to drive us around
ur on 4D3N rite? probably, that's a bit short, can't cover that much places, and yet alone, ur departing/arriving time takes the precious days off.
Mine was, 6D/5N last time, i think a FULL 5N/4D (excluding arrival/departure day) is just nice to cover the major places in the island, + enof shopping time.
yeah, well, guess many of us wont be visiting the same places again, better make it worth while to cover all the places.
mmm i'm not good in recalling the past, i think around 3-4hours per way if i'm not mistaken
*
Arriving will be 1 day earlier. My 1st day flight been cancel, stupid Garuda still dare to ask me to take night flight. So, at last I requested for the earlier 1 day flight. And departing on the 4th day would be around 4pm.

Any comment on Bedugul & Tanah Lot?

Tnx, Bali will remained my best oversea Holidays so far..unless I hv the opportunity to New Zealand or Europe blush.gif & that's also my 1st experience renting & driving on my own in foreign country....so I hv vivid memories of Bali.. biggrin.gif

Based on the posted itinerary, skipping Monkey forest is OK (Honestly nothing there except those naughty monkeys available everywhere in M'sia! but to Mat Salleh, it's a very cool experience!) but try not to skip Tanah Lot.

I hv list down previously on some of the places which is a must, some so-so places & etc....the thread getting very long, thinking of hijacking 1st post wth consent from TS after I come bck from Pearl river Delta backpacking tour....I also cannot work oledi...My trip to Macau start 2moro rclxm9.gif

Some of the places u must visit in Bali:

1) Uluwatu
2) Tanah Lot
3) Bedugul Floating temple
4) Kintamani -Mt Batur Volcano (Must start early!)

Do advise on my tour guide plan. We might skipped on the 3rd day. Any better advice?  blush.gif  My friend plan to bring us go to Four Season Restaurant, advice again pls.

stimix, your info is very informative, would appreciate if I could have more, SERIOUSLY! I wrote it down 1 by 1 into my note. biggrin.gif

kucingfight, a question, where do you get driver + car? after you touched down? or.. booked thru wayan and etc first?
and about the usual 300k rp per day tours? do they cover entrance fee? and the food?

the last time I was there, it was all covered, dint have to pay a single sen.. just tip our drivers and guide only. so, im kinda curious if we have to pay for those entrance fee and etc.. in my coming trip. hmm.gif

Bedugul / Tanah Lot = definitely muz go. 'floating' temple @ bedugul and sunset scenery @ tanah lot (again make sure u reach there while it's still bright, gets dark pretty fast, so u wouldnt want to miss the sunset view)

mm what else ah, rupiah is cheap now, around rm2.95 = RP 10K.

i booked wayan a few weeks b4 my trip. So he'll be waiting with ur name on a playcard. RP300K = old mitsubishi colt, he prefers to get kijang (360k) for smoother and more enjoyable ride, depends on the number of ppl, 6 = he prefers kijang, if 2-4 = his own karimoon. Nope, it only covers petrol + his wage. (*petrol = subject to daily amountof 100K (i think), let's say if u travel far, and it exceeds that daily qouta, u would hav to top up the remaining amount, it's reasonable n fair imo.)

yea, some places like tanah lot can go at different times, morning while the waves are huge and strong, and afternoon when the sun's setting and the small island temple is accessible cuz the tide is low by then.

i just went to Bali early this week ..and it was awesome for those who loves surfing on the beach and sight-seeing for half naked European girl ..huhu

for those bf/gf couple ...this place is good for you to relax . Bali got alot of massage/spa centre ..great deal

i stayed at jayakarta hotel . hotel is great ...and cheaper

in Bali , you have to check and ask whether the food is halal or not ..i prefer Muslim to go to dining at restaurant nasi padang ...those are Muslims .

I sms Jhony and Agus who are both recommended here.

Jhony quoted 300K and Agus 400K. Since I have only 2 people, do you think i should negotiate more with Johny or is 300k reasonable?

Anyone managed to get a price below 300k? I understand petrol prices just went down in Indonesia...

I supposed to stay there(Green Garden hotel) 1 night as my flight push forward to 1 day earlier. Went there and they told me air con spoilt and transfer me to Febri's Hotel.

Guess what? Environment is not bad, but room air con is real bad. Air con facing the main door but not the room doh.gif HOT like hell, couldn't sleep well at all.

Luckily next day we transfer to Hard Rock Hotel already, AWESOME

Thanks joshua on the petrol info.

I'm deciding between staying in Ubud or staying in Kuta.

Does travelling from:
1. Ubud - Mt Batur- Besakih take less time compared to Kuta - Mt Batur - Besakih ?
2 . Ubud-Bedugul take less time compared to Kuta-Bedugul?

From the map Ubud is definitely closer to both places, but the roads look more like small mountain roads.. The roads from Kuta-Batur and Kuta-Bedugul looks like bigger roads... so not sure if the distance on the map corresponds with travelling time...

By the way, are the roads around Ubud like the roads we have around Frasers Hills & Camerons?

definitely smaller. The routes the guides take you.. is amazing. Super small and narrow...

as for the time for you to get to mt batur and etc.. from ubud, yea, i think you'll get to those places from ubud much more faster. but it all depends on where you wanna go really, if you wanna go for some night life.. you'll have to stay kuta. if you want the peaceful nature kinda life, I guess you'll have to go for ubud. but hey, if ubud is a bit too quiet for you and kuta too loud, why not try legian? i think it's a bit more quiet and if you want the night life, its still within walking distance. icon_rolleyes.gif
