Oh sorry didn't see that, LOL. What does the acronym STAR stand for? And won't their function overlap with ATM's PASKAU unit?

The Special Task And Rescue (Malay: Pasukan Tindakan Khas dan Penyelamat Maritim) or STAR is an elite counter-terrorism and special forces unit of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, established to protect the local maritime assets of Malaysia. The team started off their operation with just one Senior Officer and one Non-commissioned Officer. The mission and responsibility of this unit includes commencement of rescue mission in difficult underwater situation, rescue of accident victims at sea and searching ships tactically in the event this is required. Additionally, the STAR team also plays the role of first responder on piracy, terrorism and robbery threats at sea before arrival of the reinforcement from Royal Malaysian Police and Royal Malaysian Navy Special Forces.

my guess is AWM .338 Lapua Magnum..our police and soldiers frequently use that sniper rifle..i wish them spec ops guys could carry anti-material rifles to the parade though..like these mexican guys here..they carry Barret, we can carry Robar RC-50..hehe i know it's heavy as hell..but it sure does make our guys looks more fierce when carrying that during parade..

Greek company in the production of Leopard 2 for Qatar

A very important development for the future of the Greek defense industry is the participation of the Greek company METKA in the production of battle tanks Leopard 2 for Qatar. An important part of the work will go through Greek factories, boosting the economy of the country.

METKA S.A. in its press release is stating that:

is pleased to announce a significant industrial coproduction agreement with Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co. KG (KMW), Europe’s leading manufacturer of highly protected wheeled and tracked military vehicles. KMW chose METKA to supply defined metal structures of the hull and turret for 62 LEOPARD 2 main battle tanks for the Middle East market. The value of the agreement adds up to 56.5 Million Euro and the relevant Contract is scheduled to be signed shortly.

METKA and KMW have been business partners in producing LEOPARD 2HEL tanks for the Greek Army since 2003 when the two companies set the basis of their co-operation that included extensive know how transfer and substantial investments on highly sophisticated machinery in METKA’s two factories in Volos. This new agreement is the result of the successful execution of the Greek program that qualified METKA as one of the very few companies that can perform such demanding fabrication works worldwide and, certainly, sets a milestone in their long-term cooperation, particularly with regard to preservation of jobs and know-how in Greece’s Defence Industry.
