Hello, may i know which shop in lowyat should i go to if i were to send in my laptop .

Thanks .
*
Its not a shop but Lenovo's own SC. Located on the top floor of Lowyat plaza. I think if AP set with just small problem you talk nicely they might help, but if need to change anything it might be hard.

based on your experience, on my hdd replacement case, do you think it can be done on the spot or within few days time?
*
I think common item they have stock and can be done immediately. They will tell you how long it will take to get it done.

When I was there I saw them replaced a LCD within 2hr.

When testing the sound using Realtek HD Audio Manager, both left and right should sound the same?

Cuz I noticed that my left speaker is softer than the right one.
*
After reading your statement I went and try mine. On my set the right side seems like got more bass. Funny, but I'm not complaining cause usually I jack the output into my hi-fi set.

Can u try it on max volume, just drag it to 100 on the volume control on the task bar.

My right sounds clear but i can hear a "jickkkkkk" sound on the left.
*
Nope does not have that sound. when listening to music I guess it sounds very even and for such small speakers its damm loud too notworthy.gif

May I also suggest you sent it to SC for a checkup?

Do you have memtest86+
If you didn't try, boot it and go have test 8 and test 5.
As i know 1866 and 2133 should be no problem but they are limited with 8GB only.
Personally, stay away from Corsair RAM in future they have custom timings and need to fix via  software from another computer.

Lets try this fix, before blame the SODIMM faulty
The problem with this SODIMM, it cannot run neither 1600MHz nor 1333MHz, because it has incomplete JEDEC timing table;

Use Taiphoon Burner to re-correct the timings.

If that solution do not work, you may have bad sticks.

Haswell that ends well? lol

If can't get a Lenovo Y510p SLI GT750M, maybe consider an illegear RE-15 GTX765M.
Or go for a Lenovo Y500 SLI GT750M as the power saving for the Y510p is disabled when on SLI. & the processor is only a i7-4702MQ(2.2GHz) instead of a i7-4700MQ(2.4GHz)
*
but to be frank I've been looking at task manager while I'm Playing game (got a 2 screen setup at home). The load on the processor is not that great while the game is running. So speed of 2.2ghz vs 2.4ghz should not make such a big difference.

Side note: even when not running without sli while on battery the gpu speed is also cap for y500. This part I don't understand. Anyone care to share your 2 cents?

i never tot skins can go this way! herm..
yea will think over it and if can get some source will announce it smile.gif

Careful guys, Last time I talk to Lenovo SC they told me that the y500's keyboard is part of the cooling system. They advise not to use keyboard cover nor close lid when using external monitor cause it will be very hot.

Not sure how this skins will affect it but it might get hotter than usual.
