QUOTE(Coisox @ Sep 7 2013, 03:30 AM)
I experience frequent lost internet connection on WiFi. The signal still ok and stated as connected but no internet. Then I DC and reconnect and the internet ok. But it occurs again after about 10 minutes.

Q1: Does this normal to Windows 8?
Q2: Does this normal to Y510p?
Q3: Does this normal to my WiFi card model on Windows 8?
Q4: Do I need to install another driver? Please point me.
*
A1: AFAIK, this is totally normal on Windows8. Seems to me everybody is having similar issue on wifi connection with Windows8 unless your router is right next to you. When I'm in US, i didn't have this problem and my wifi router is right next to my laptop... My phone, tablet and Win7 laptop doesn't seem to have any problem at all.
A2: It doesn't seems to be related to laptop models.
A3: All I know is that any wifi card (except the one that comes with Intel chipsets) will be affected. I do heard Intel wifi cards do affected as well but I can't confirm. I'm getting a new laptop with Intel wifi card on win8 for works in next few weeks (or probably months... we'll see) so maybe I can confirm that later on.
A4: Some say the problem does goes away with Win7 drivers. So maybe you want to check Lenovo's website on that. I dont know if there's any.

for the time being, I just use LAN instead of Wifi...

Like I said, it's AFAIK... there must be cases where people dont have issues... but again, just because you didn't experience it, it isn't there... I experience it with both my Lenovo Y580 and my own built desktop connected with Asus WL-167GV3. My friend doesn't seem to experience it, but he's on Intel wifi card IINM.

My other friends, they use TPLink wifi adapter, still affected with both TM's Unifi router and TPLink router but under special condition only. And all this fiasco among us regarding the wifi starts after Win8 is rolled out.

I admit, some people does hit by the issue... some people dont, since it is affected by multiple factor... Like I said, I didn't get the problem as well when I'm in US, but once I come back to Malaysia I got hit by the issue. the only common thing about it is Windows 8. I've used the same laptop before I went to US on Win7, I didn't face a single problem with wifi connection.

and when I mention this issue, I tested it by ping the router it is connected to. When the problem arise, the ping is either dropped or more than 1 second, the connection to router is totally problematic. Now, there's few way that I find may temporarily resolve the issue. Your experience may vary.

1. Restart your router.
2. Restart your PC.
3. Remove the adapter from PC USB, connect it again.

So, if you do these often enough (AFAIK, as frequent as daily) you probably will never be hit by this issue.

Hi,

I will be using my laptop mostly for engineering-related software and works, and I also play games such as Dota2.

I'm in dilemma whether to buy the Y410P or Y510P. The specs of Y510P seems better than Y410P, and it comes with full HD screen rclxms.gif the only downside for me is the 15" screen.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Calling Lenovo Helpline and ask them to help..
Don't know what can they do..

Becarefull of this reseller: http://www.mudah.my/li?ca=9_s&id=67336

They claim they have 1 year international warranty. But they are not.

it is not the reseller fault..
here, normally US/AP set will have problem when comes to warranty claiming eventhough it have 1 year international warranty..
the problem is Lenovo Malaysia will not accept those warranty UNLESS you got official receipt from Lenovo US (correct me if i'm wrong)..
better spend extra bucks to buy Original Local set.. sweat.gif sweat.gif
