Update on the hard disk caddy i bought from Athlon888 for my Y510p:  It works perfectly and i modded it with the plastic cover of the original DVD-drive.  So it looks original as the original.    Saving hundred of dollars on the original hard disk caddy.  Now the Y510p boot from SSD with Windows 7 or original Windows 8. 

hi everyone.. i had bought y480 wif oem win 7 basic home last time and i had upgrade to windows 8 pro last time that comes wif promotion price RM50. now i wish to reformat my lappy, may i know how should i do? using windows 8 setup tat i had downloaded last time n key in the serial number or using one key recovery?

By brute force.    just use a small head screw driver like a test-pen to ply one side.  Then it will just comes out.     There are 2 small plastic tabs holding it. Ply them open.

How much do you think to repair faulty lenovo y500 webcam..

Hi everyone, I'm considering getting a lenovo 510p and I have a few questions:

1) How does the ultrabay thing work.. Is it easy to buy and HDD to add in? Can I add in a 7500rpm one to use together with the stock 1TB 5000 rpm one?

2) How is lenovo's warranty service like? Fast? slow? Reliable?

3) How's the battery life? This site say that it's bad .. http://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/l...apad-y510p.aspx

4) Anyone have any problems with it in general?

5) .... How come malaysia lenovo site doesn't lise the y510p .. Is it available here 1 or not...

Like I said, it's AFAIK... there must be cases where people dont have issues... but again, just because you didn't experience it, it isn't there... I experience it with both my Lenovo Y580 and my own built desktop connected with Asus WL-167GV3. My friend doesn't seem to experience it, but he's on Intel wifi card IINM.

My other friends, they use TPLink wifi adapter, still affected with both TM's Unifi router and TPLink router but under special condition only. And all this fiasco among us regarding the wifi starts after Win8 is rolled out.

I admit, some people does hit by the issue... some people dont, since it is affected by multiple factor... Like I said, I didn't get the problem as well when I'm in US, but once I come back to Malaysia I got hit by the issue. the only common thing about it is Windows 8. I've used the same laptop before I went to US on Win7, I didn't face a single problem with wifi connection.

and when I mention this issue, I tested it by ping the router it is connected to. When the problem arise, the ping is either dropped or more than 1 second, the connection to router is totally problematic. Now, there's few way that I find may temporarily resolve the issue. Your experience may vary.

1. Restart your router.
2. Restart your PC.
3. Remove the adapter from PC USB, connect it again.

So, if you do these often enough (AFAIK, as frequent as daily) you probably will never be hit by this issue.

The reseller should say US/AP set will have problem when comes to warranty claiming eventhough it have 1 year international warranty..

If they say it.. It is ok with me.. But they don't mention it...
