caching only

got my notebook from Hikari 2 days ago.
here is some feedback.

- if wan change ram or hdd, the case is not easy to open. (For me)
- the bag is a little small. maybe its for 14" notebook.
- oem software. a lot of unwanted. (For me)

the rest so far satisfied.

yea found tat the bag is abit too small for the 15.6".. thought of buying a replacement bag.

The ori dicota bag...cant really carry some stuffs...i got a back pack...way better

I plan to take out the optical drive (DVD) and put in the original HDD instead.

errr...my left & right touchpad button doesn't respond to click..
two finger gesture to scroll up & down also doesn't work..

but one finger gesture works..
anyone experienced it too??

Surely can , but so far no caddy that fit 100% perfect like ori ultrabay , most of it ( made in china ) , either have gap between edge or material easy broke

what lenovo did not mention in the guide,
- for y500 sli - intel rapid storage technology software ( enable acceleration ) is not working on win 8 64 bit
- so all you need is lenovo expresscache from the link - beware of 32 and 64 bit
- after you install your msata into the laptop, make sure to check the msata detect by bios and showing details here


- also access bios and set boot mode to legacy support ( so that your msata will be shown there at boot
device priority and for future you will be able to set msata to 1st boot and maybe install win8 directly at msata.




also,
- 1st time installing new or used msata, please uninstall any "intel rapid storage and lenovo expresscache
software 1st" then reboot
- after that go right click my computer--> manage--> disk management and right click on your msata and
delete volume ( let it be as default , no drive letter, no partition, yup the original unallocated space.
- install lenovo expresscache and reboot
- WALLA you will notice speedy boot of your win 8 64bit right away, and you may run this command to test your msata WORKING AS CACHE DRIVE OR NOT

1) Open the Start Menu, click on "All Programs", then click on "Accessories". Right-click on "Command Prompt" and then choose "Run as administrator" from the menu that appears.

2)Type "eccmd.exe -info" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- result sould be some statistic like mine


all above all FU lenovo and Intel for this complicated fakap method.


additional infos,
- your msata drive will available for view in disk management but not in my computer, also msata space is not available as normal storage( no copy and paste there like normal hard disk).

before setting as cache drive, please format and partition to test your msata 1st using as ssd software , this just to bench hehe

anyone found the sides of the 510p (plastic) not even for left and right?

my y500 is flat n stable. man if it not even and flat, try to push the "bumb" part, something should snap back in ... or if u unlucky broken. good luck

not mine yet. haha...i went to shop took a look. suprised they have 510p but 410p is no where to be found. selling SRP. worth it?

got picture? dont understand which part of the laptop? back front?

the palm rest area? where the alumnium meets the plastic edge.

Press it hard I think your unit on of the clips is not click in. Else post some pictures so we all can help or understand the problem.

as i said, not my unit. just took a peep at the store. to inspect the build quality of the Y510p. maybe next time i go back and press it hard if it is not sold out yet.

OS can be installed into the mSATA or M2 if the space is sufficient, it's not for CACHE only

so far for the number of multi hundred units of Y500/Y510 sold, seen none of the described issue. This happened only when the plastic at inner layer broken when forced open by inexperienced seller. (saw it when a customer bought Y500 and walk in for mSATA)

we refer to default build in ssd in US set, no refer to after add SSD

the tips is to open it gently shake side by side.
