QUOTE(Lil Kiasu @ May 29 2013, 07:11 PM) Ok... Good luck. nice 1 Yank it out by force~! An increase of 40 fps is good for mobile gamers liao if they play demanding games... Desktop..? No fun carrying a tower + peripherals to Starbucks/airport/kopitiam liao~ |

QUOTE(Lil Kiasu @ May 30 2013, 09:04 AM) It's so cliche mar... Tired with everyone's mentality of saying "mau performance get desktop lah". lol man put that statement to an SLI PC vs SLI y500... lets fly around the world baby hahahah... Yes, desktop > mobile, but common sense that most power users who want power on the go will opt for this instead of lugging a tower everywhere, no? Even with AirAsia's 7kg limit for hand carry luggage also with our lappy already taking 2.7kg liao... If tower amacam~? PS: Not raging at anyone in particular... Edit : Spelling. good luck putting your desktop in a plane or boat lol lol lol ps : comparing the real deal man's cok with a plastic oversize nikka dildo, just cant do it lol, but hey... its get the job done trolololol! |

I don't like the way Lenovo threat customer. My Macbook and Alienware have no issue of warranty. No need receipt all is registered in their server. Feel bad about Lenovo, regret getting it. not same as lenovo local n foreign set is diff, international warranty is diff also. PAIN IN THE AZZ |

here is little help and tips,
----------------------------------- how to enable msata for cache drive- and prove it is working FAST!!! link that helps, http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/...?DocID=HT074404 what lenovo did not mention in the guide, - for y500 sli - intel rapid storage technology software ( enable acceleration ) is not working on win 8 64 bit - so all you need is lenovo expresscache from the link - beware of 32 and 64 bit - after you install your msata into the laptop, make sure to check the msata detect by bios and showing details here ![]() - also access bios and set boot mode to legacy support ( so that your msata will be shown there at boot device priority and for future you will be able to set msata to 1st boot and maybe install win8 directly at msata. ![]() also, - 1st time installing new or used msata, please uninstall any "intel rapid storage and lenovo expresscache software 1st" then reboot - after that go right click my computer--> manage--> disk management and right click on your msata and delete volume ( let it be as default , no drive letter, no partition, yup the original unallocated space. - install lenovo expresscache and reboot - WALLA you will notice speedy boot of your win 8 64bit right away, and you may run this command to test your msata WORKING AS CACHE DRIVE OR NOT 1) Open the Start Menu, click on "All Programs", then click on "Accessories". Right-click on "Command Prompt" and then choose "Run as administrator" from the menu that appears. 2)Type "eccmd.exe -info" (without the quotes) and press Enter - result sould be some statistic like mine ![]() all above all FU lenovo and Intel for this complicated fakap method. additional infos, - your msata drive will available for view in disk management but not in my computer, also msata space is not available as normal storage( no copy and paste there like normal hard disk). before setting as cache drive, please format and partition to test your msata 1st using as ssd software , this just to bench hehe ![]() This post has been edited by Mr_47: Aug 21 2013, 11:17 PM |

QUOTE(storm88 @ Aug 21 2013, 08:05 PM) so far for the number of multi hundred units of Y500/Y510 sold, seen none of the described issue. This happened only when the plastic at inner layer broken when forced open by inexperienced seller. (saw it when a customer bought Y500 and walk in for mSATA) the tips is to open it gently shake side by side. |

QUOTE(storm88 @ Aug 22 2013, 08:37 AM) Yes. Exactly. For Y500/Y510, back cover is to open evenly together from left and right. If not careful, either two place will get broken: yup, lastime saw some noob reseller try to upgrade ram into y500, back cover opened and 2 front clips broken, heard loud SNAP sound when they opned the cover. The ULTRABAY or nearby audio jack area they told customer its okay and the screw will hold it tight, if me ill backfire them back Lenovo certified reseller my AZZ! SCARY lol |

QUOTE(byteen88 @ Aug 23 2013, 08:21 PM) Honestly not too worried about the warranty i take very good care of my "children" hahahaha haha we are in the same boat, loving and caring "THE BABY" Anyway, what I want to ask is that; 1. OS is installed on 1TB HDD that has not been partitioned, I want to reinstall windows and partition the HDD to smth of 250GB+- & 750GB+-. How do I do that without the WIndows8 CD? 2. What is the 24GB SSD for? Can I install Windows on it? answers, 1) its totally impossible. unless you have the win8 installation files in pendrive and use the pendrive to format and install the os. you can create partitions for your hard disk during the os installation process. 2) yes it is possible , try google , there is too many ways and confusing, also you will not able to use the one key recovery anymore and you need to extract windows 8 key before new installation. best method is to clone old hard disk to a new one. What is the 24GB SSD for? - this is special for your laptop as cache drive, meaning it will store frequent use application/software and you can open/close/operate it faster, e.g. faster win 8 boot, faster load time, faster everything. but it is not as fast as the real SSD because yours should be msata right? set up as cache drive guide https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=62637352 - or you may use it for normal storage like normal hard disk. - installing win8 into <64gb anySSD is not recommended as the system files or applications updates grows, you will have a tiny space left. good luck soldier. |
