yo guys.. i've upgraded to corsair Corsair Vengeance CMSX8GX3M2A1866C10 2 sticks, 4GB each. When i plug in both RAMS, i have frequent error from rebooting Win 8. But when i stick one of the RAM unit, it performs flawlessly. does it mean i have one faulty RAM? or its the laptop throttling? or windows 8?

Do you have memtest86+If you didn't try, boot it and go have test 8 and test 5. As i know 1866 and 2133 should be no problem but they are limited with 8GB only. Personally, stay away from Corsair RAM in future they have custom timings and need to fix via software from another computer. Lets try this fix, before blame the SODIMM faulty The problem with this SODIMM, it cannot run neither 1600MHz nor 1333MHz, because it has incomplete JEDEC timing table; ![]() Use Taiphoon Burner to re-correct the timings. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « If that solution do not work, you may have bad sticks. QUOTE(AiSheep @ Jun 24 2013, 01:08 AM) Do you have memtest86+ Thanks guys. I'll do that. The ones that I had are 2 sticks of 4GB. I'll give an update once I tried the mem test. The problem arise if I stick both sticks of Corsair together. I seems to run fine with one stick. If you didn't try, boot it and go have test 8 and test 5. As long you remain your hidden partition from Lenovo which is 20GB and it's drivers. it still works :3Just don't mess with D drive and hiddens partitions and delete C (windows boot drive) will do. |

QUOTE(AiSheep @ Jun 25 2013, 05:20 PM) Haswell that ends well? lolIf can't get a Lenovo Y510p SLI GT750M, maybe consider an illegear RE-15 GTX765M. Or go for a Lenovo Y500 SLI GT750M as the power saving for the Y510p is disabled when on SLI. & the processor is only a i7-4702MQ(2.2GHz) instead of a i7-4700MQ(2.4GHz) |

QUOTE(Dbassnut @ Jun 25 2013, 05:51 PM) Haswell that ends well? lol but to be frank I've been looking at task manager while I'm Playing game (got a 2 screen setup at home). The load on the processor is not that great while the game is running. So speed of 2.2ghz vs 2.4ghz should not make such a big difference. If can't get a Lenovo Y510p SLI GT750M, maybe consider an illegear RE-15 GTX765M. This part I don't understand. Anyone care to share your 2 cents? |
