QUOTE(mengfart @ May 3 2013, 12:00 PM) Why want to OC in the first place ? better performance while risking to burn the whole thing ? just wondering.. lol Agree. OC is not suitable for mobile systems. Cramp spaces and heat dont go along well.. even cooling pad dont provide significant cooling for laptops. But that's just my 2 cents.. want to oc? buy a desktop system. |

QUOTE(slimfox @ Jun 8 2013, 05:05 PM) compare the clock speed. which is the faster. More RAM adds the ability to multi-task programs simultaneously, whilst clock speed how fast the system load from the RAM buffer storage. if were you i'd get the 1.8Ghz clock at 8GB. worth more than 16GB 1.6Ghz. |

QUOTE(slimfox @ Jun 8 2013, 05:54 PM) That is if your bus can support that speed la. Not sure about y500 and do not intend to overclock a laptop so guess if its spec at 1600mhz I will stay within spec. Corsair is a good reliable brand. I will save the extra cash for SSD That being said, it sounds more plausible upgrade to 8GB then add sad. More performance jump then just a single upgrade. |

Personally i dont think there is much improvement from Haswell ... Haswell core design deviate more to mobile platforms as a direct competition to ARM..

yo guys.. i've upgraded to corsair Corsair Vengeance CMSX8GX3M2A1866C10 2 sticks, 4GB each. When i plug in both RAMS, i have frequent error from rebooting Win 8. But when i stick one of the RAM unit, it performs flawlessly. does it mean i have one faulty RAM? or its the laptop throttling? or windows 8?

QUOTE(AiSheep @ Jun 24 2013, 01:08 AM) Do you have memtest86+ Thanks guys. I'll do that. The ones that I had are 2 sticks of 4GB. I'll give an update once I tried the mem test. The problem arise if I stick both sticks of Corsair together. I seems to run fine with one stick. If you didn't try, boot it and go have test 8 and test 5. As i know 1866 and 2133 should be no problem but they are limited with 8GB only. Personally, stay away from Corsair RAM in future they have custom timings and need to fix via software from another computer. Lets try this fix, before blame the SODIMM faulty The problem with this SODIMM, it cannot run neither 1600MHz nor 1333MHz, because it has incomplete JEDEC timing table; ![]() Use Taiphoon Burner to re-correct the timings. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « If that solution do not work, you may have bad sticks.
