The most attractive proposition is the fact that the RT is good for light excel, word and powerpoint usages and microsoft office RT is bundled in with the price!! With batt life circa 8 hours, its an ideal laptop replacement for me to move around with for discussions/meeting purposes. Outlook will also become available soon with the next update of Office RT.

Wife decided not to wait and got a unit from Thunder Match, Digital Mall. Unfortunately, no type cover available as the "package deals" are with touch covers only (RM1399). Also got a 32Gb microSD to complement the storage capacity.
Doing all the set ups and upgrading now. Will report more when I start using it. Btw, noticed that the Surface Pro is significantly "thicker" than the RT |

This Monday, I will be using my RT for a whole day meeting. Let's see how it performs.
Anyone knows where one can buy a folio type case for the RT? Its a finger print magnet!! |

Used my RT through a full day of meetings yesterday. Fully charged, Meetings started from 10am through 5pm (with a short lunch break in between). Wifi of course, was on throughout. Had powerpoint running, excel and huge pdf files opened. Checked and responded to emails from time to time too.
By 5pm, batt was still holding >50% charge. Loving my RT!!! |

QUOTE(derravile @ Jul 30 2013, 11:08 PM) Putting the RT through continuous use the other day, I am glad to say there was not much noticeable heat. Then again, I was only running excel, ppt and pdf files, no vigorous video playback etc |

QUOTE(noorimanyosh @ Jul 31 2013, 04:33 AM) no prob...hand getting itchy waiting for the RT already order the folio type casing since im not buying any touch or type cover I hope you bought one which allows you to swipe all the way to the bottom. Most designs I have seen limits this because the only exposed part is at the bottom where the Home button is, in the middle. This is the one I have ordered from eBay. Left, right, up, down also can swipe This post has been edited by richard912: Jul 31 2013, 03:26 PM |

I got a 32Gb Sandisk Ultra paired with my 32Gb RT. Cant remember exactly how much I paid for it but must be circa RM90. Mapped it to my Start screen and am using it as my main file storage (work related files).
So far, so good. Of course, I have my several thumbdrives and on the extreme, an external 500Gb HDD if more storage required This post has been edited by richard912: Aug 4 2013, 09:29 AM |

QUOTE(l K l P l @ Aug 4 2013, 02:19 PM) It really depends on what you are intending to use it for. Its more realistic to compare the new Nexus 7 against an iPad mini since both are circa 7" albeit on different OS and apps availability. An RT however, is more practically positioned as a middle ground between tablets and ultrabooks. It comes loaded with MS Office and with its very decent batt life of 8 hours, very ideal for students and even work. If gaming is top on your list, strike the RT out. Just my 2 sen opinion |
