QUOTE(l K l P l @ Aug 4 2013, 02:42 PM) nope. only for student works. how about the performance ? especially when dealing with microsoft office. I recently ran excel and powerpoint over almost 5 hours. No signs of lag even when I snapped between them and the start screen, check mail and responding to them (wifi on through out of course). Only bit of slowness was from skimming through huge pdf files loaded up via a thumbdrive through the sole USB port. the pages took a bit of delay to load up (100+ pages per file!!) Ended the session with batt level still above 50%

QUOTE(marauderz @ Aug 7 2013, 03:42 PM) You can read BitLocker encrypted thumbdrives on Windows RT. I'm not too sure about video players for MKV or AVI, your best bet is to recontain the file in MP4 as long as the codecs are supported by Windows RT, which aren't much just the usual H.264 and AAC type of things. Here's a useful link for more info as pointed out by marauderz

QUOTE(victorian @ Aug 8 2013, 10:19 PM) Having a dilemma here. Ordered the 32GB version with touch keyboard and still waiting for its arrival. Tried the touch keyboard at challengers today and the experience wasn't pleasant The accuracy is really really low and a simple task such as typing suddenly became hard. I have an iMac and and iPad with me so whenever I wanna do some word typing on my iPad I will connect the Wireless Keyboard from my iMac. The physical keys are really nice to have. Is it really that hard to get used to a touch keyboard ? Anyone tried to hook up his/her Surface RT with a keyboard ? Does it work ? Thanks You could always connect a keyboard via Bluetooth. Logitech has one which is small and sleek or Microsoft's Wedge mobile keyboard

QUOTE(victorian @ Aug 8 2013, 11:02 PM) The only reason for me to get Surface RT, full sized USB port and free Microsoft Office Home and Student but.... Do you really need Microsoft Office on your tablet, I mean most of us will still prefer to do our assignments on a full sized PC or laptop. The RT I have is NOT my primary workstation. It's my mobile companion when away from my desk or out of office entirely. Love it for its good batt life and of course, the bundled Microsoft Office.

QUOTE(Bujal.x @ Aug 14 2013, 04:35 PM) is antivirus is a must on rt? Windows RT has a specific version of Defender loaded in the OS. Since RT is ARM based and not intel/x86, malware written for the standard versions of Windows will not infect RT. Most malware uses a flash or java based loader so you may see that part of the malware try to execute on your Surface RT or RT based device, however, the infecting portion of that malware will not install or run.
