Bought a 70-200 vr2 from Yodobashi-akiba for 194,275yen yesterday...

Comes to around Rm6000.... Rm900 cheaper then msia

Going out to harajuku to test it later

Question, anyone had this problem with the monster AF-S 80-200mm f/2.8 before? I know the SWM has a reputation of making noise and then dying off, but this is new.

Look familiar to my friens sony mount sigma 70-300. It make noise like that but cant focus at all. Sent for warranty n found out the gear is broken.

1. Nikon 24-85 vr
2. Nikon 35-70 f2.8
3. Nikon 35 f2d
4. Nikon 50 f1.4d
5. Nikon 18-35 g

Which one will u keep and drop. And why...

Only have problem at 200mm, so its possibly not a gearing problem. Not in Msia at the moment so repairs will be expensive. Ouch.

Keep 3, 4, 5, get rid of 1 and then get a 70-300mm VR or 70-200mm f/4.

1 overlaps with 2 and 5 so you don't really need it, 3 and 4 are light primes that you might like to keep for travelling or low light. The only thing I think you're short on is the long end.

All assuming FX of course.

24-85 VR when you have 35-70 f/2.8? 35mm f/2D when you have 50mm f/1.4D?

Disclaimer, I don't have any experience with any of the lens except a short one with 50mm f/1.4D. Judgement only based on focal length and aperture.

Is 70-200 f4 + 50/85mm f1.8 a good combo?

The 1 has good range n lightweight for travel. That is what let me feel hard to let it go.

If travel... nowadays I'm getting so lazy I'm planning to buy a mirrorless for traveling Especially after my Bangkok earlier this year, carrying 6kg+ walking around Bangkok. And rarely bring the camera out because too tired ._. I bet if I was using mirrorless I would be shooting around like crazy.

RX1 , thought my budget not so geng. Am considering the NEX5 series instead, but crap wei the lens so expensive! The UWA and prime ._. Haih, Nikon why your mirrorless so lousy, use bigger sensor lei!
