Nikon has longer focal length also beside the better flare control to tokina.
I own the tokina before, rrally not use to the short focal length. Almost like uwa prime lens. Today check the nikon new 18-35 price at melaka. Rm1980...quite mahal... |

QUOTE(Pmc @ May 6 2013, 07:52 PM) guys need advise.. How about the metering mode at spot? Will the exposure constant back?my tammy (used lens, 3 yrs old), i just realized sometime it will have the "Err" error on the camera, remount will usually make the msg go away but afterward it came back again. and also when using small aperture F>11/16, the picture became very overexposed, as if the metering system doesn't work. if focus at dark place/ bright place the shutter speed doesn't change.. what might be the problem? sometime when i use in liveview it became ok again.. gosh... when i tested before buying, was only testing the focusing part.. mostly trying F2.8/F4 with aperture priority mode and it shows no problem, gave me sharp image and properly exposed photo.. now like this pula.. haiz update for example just now i do simple test.. AP mode, when viewing thru viewfinder n shoot, the exif is 1/4, F11, ISO400, when using viewfinder, exif is 1/25, F11, ISO400. how can this happen? My tammy 70-300 has this inconsistent exposure in the past. At same aperture, sutter speed and same focus. The captured images will has diff exposure. Spot metering do help on my case but because it under warranty so it was sent back to tammy to get fix. So far so good now |

QUOTE(zhinsara @ May 19 2013, 09:36 AM) Question, anyone had this problem with the monster AF-S 80-200mm f/2.8 before? I know the SWM has a reputation of making noise and then dying off, but this is new. Look familiar to my friens sony mount sigma 70-300. It make noise like that but cant focus at all. Sent for warranty n found out the gear is broken. |

QUOTE(zhinsara @ May 19 2013, 09:52 AM) Only have problem at 200mm, so its possibly not a gearing problem. Not in Msia at the moment so repairs will be expensive. Ouch. Thanks for the fast reply.Keep 3, 4, 5, get rid of 1 and then get a 70-300mm VR or 70-200mm f/4. 1 overlaps with 2 and 5 so you don't really need it, 3 and 4 are light primes that you might like to keep for travelling or low light. The only thing I think you're short on is the long end. All assuming FX of course. Yes is for ff. |

QUOTE(celciuz @ May 19 2013, 10:00 AM) I'll keep 2, 4 and 5. Thanks. Very close to what I plan already. 24-85 VR when you have 35-70 f/2.8? 35mm f/2D when you have 50mm f/1.4D? Disclaimer, I don't have any experience with any of the lens except a short one with 50mm f/1.4D. Judgement only based on focal length and aperture. The 1 has good range n lightweight for travel. That is what let me feel hard to let it go. |
