Failed 1: Allowed to resit in November for that paper only. (max 3 resit attempts)
Failed 2 or more: Resit all 5 papers in the following year again. (maximum 3 resit attempts)

All the information you require (registration dates, time for exams) is in the system after registration. If you are not clear on any of the info, just call LPQB at 03-2260 1368/9.

Hi guys

I note from LPQB that one require STPM/A Level/UEC to be able to sit for CLP.

I have SPM, Foundation and Degree in Engineering from UK.

Even if i take and pass LLB now, i would not be able to sit for CLP and thus not able to practice in Malaysia? Kindly advise.

Hello people, im a uol law student and will be starting my year 2 soon. I will be taking EU law as one of my electives because im studying BPTC after my degree. I just wanted to ask in between Family law and Commercial law, which is the better option career wise? Say if i took commercial law as my second elective, will i still be able to practice family law after my BPTC?

Hi MrCola,

I've completed my law degree, and I did EU law and Commercial Law. Honestly, upon several internships and countless networking sessions, I do not think that the subjects you choose in school necessarily impacts your career options. The reason being that the substantive knowledge you obtain in law school, though relevant, will unlikely be of that much value to when you actually work. I think what is more important is that regardless of what you choose, try your best to excel in it to demonstrate your capabilities.

The value of the subjects chosen, if any, would probably be a conversation starter, in say, an interview. That is, to say that it is through a certain subject you've taken that has sparked your interest to the job that you are applying for. So yes, I don't see how choosing Commercial Law will deter you from practicing Family Law in future, as long as you can demonstrate your motivation for Family Law, which is a whole other topic of course.

In fact, I know friends who took subjects in university completely unrelated to their current jobs and they have no regrets doing so since they enjoyed it.

Hope this helps. smile.gif

It depends but from what I heard, some firms are slowing down or freezing their hiring process at the moment. It still depends on what position you are asking for though.

Firms are certainly more selective now. There are vacancies but it's an employer's market.

Not so. Certain firms tend to go for BAR students. So its mostly preference based.

I don't think they hire lawyers themselves but rather they are lawyers who have their own separate practice and volunteer for pro bono work
