Selling pressure? I don't quite agree.

Not to promote Bone's stock but maybe if you look at the trading data, you might change your statement.

http://biz.thestar.com.my/marketwatch/char....asp?scode=0082

Look at the bottom data - I copy and paste below ( fingers ... getting tired already. sweat.gif laugh.gif )
Last column indicates the traded volume.

8-Apr-13 0.36 0.37 0.35 0.36 -0.005 16,481
9-Apr-13 0.36 0.37 0.35 0.36 0.000 56,235
10-Apr-13 0.36 0.36 0.35 0.36 0.000 25,803
11-Apr-13 0.35 0.36 0.35 0.35 -0.010 54,891
12-Apr-13 0.35 0.35 0.32 0.32 -0.025 51,306
15-Apr-13 0.32 0.34 0.31 0.32 0.000 79,644
16-Apr-13 0.32 0.35 0.32 0.34 0.010 72,769
17-Apr-13 0.34 0.37 0.33 0.37 0.030 99,675
18-Apr-13 0.36 0.38 0.36 0.37 0.005 93,810
19-Apr-13 0.37 0.40 0.37 0.38 0.010 169,086
22-Apr-13 0.38 0.38 0.34 0.35 -0.030 58,983
23-Apr-13 0.35 0.35 0.34 0.34 -0.005 23,394

My interpretation.
I see volume increasing as the stock hit a low of 32 sen on 12-Ape-13.
Volume peaked on 19-Ape-13 with the stock closing at 38 sen.

22-Ape-13 stock falls to 35 sen.
From 32 sen to 38 sen, nice tiny run.
It is not unexpected that one see profit taking.
Look at the traded volume.
It fell from 169,086 to 58,983.

Semalam stock falls another big 0.05 sen to 34 sen.
Volume falls again to 23,934 only.

If the selling pressure is strong, traded volume would have been strong.
Correct or not?
If the traded volume shrinks by so much, what does it indicate?
rolleyes.gif

Look at the volume as of now.

Me! biggrin.gif

I believe the potential is there but for now I am just looking only.

Iskandar theme WILL be the theme to focus on.
Real money is being spent on the region.
Last year a China developer invested big money in Danga Bay and then we have Kouk buying land from UEM Land.
Not forgetting Temasek's mega billion dollar deal with Iskandar Waterfront too.

Your statements are correct.

When i mention selling pressure, i was looking at buying and selling volume. At that point of time, i see low buying volume and high selling volume (queing btw). That's what i meant by selling pressure. my bad if it meant wrongly tongue.gif

Nevertheless, you analysis is even deeper. which make sense lo. 0.32 to 0.38 is 0.06= ~20%. profit taking make sense. biggrin.gif

laugh.gif

No I do not think it's a gone case.
The 'interest' in the stock must die or cool off first.
If you look at the chain of events, what has happened is normal.
Stock went up because of the offer.
Offer rejected stock fall down.
BUT after the rejection, some smarty pants suggested another offer could be launched within 6 months.
This eXcitement was splashed with cold water when news stated clearly that another offer can only be offered after 12 months.

I bought MISC before and made not bad money.
I think if MISC falls to those low again, I might .... just wet my feet again.

Maybulk? A big no for me. tongue.gif

No problem.
It looks like one terror geng analysis but trust me, it wasn't much analysis. sweat.gif
Basically you can see this from a simple look see and what I posted was very basic way to look at volume. sweat.gif
Better experts should be able to draw a better picture for you.

Those buy/sell queues...
Normally I will look but I won't pay too much attention on it.
Queues are easily added/withdrawn all the time and this makes it extremely hard for a simple person like me to understand, sweat.gif

As mentioned by Guru Gark, it is better to put attention to the fundamentals of the co than the volume things, esp for new babies.

If buy and sell volumes could be fake, then transacted volumes be be faked too ( from left hand to right hand ).

How reliable is it to analyse a chart with those fake volumes and making a near perfect conclusion . hmm.gif

Just my thought only.

MISC Bhd Petronas Privatisation Bid Fails
Date: 22/04/2013

News MISC announced that its major shareholder, PETRONAS had failed to meet the Acceptance Condition of 90% that is required for the delisting of MISC.

As of last Friday, the acceptance level for the Offer (RM5.50/share) stood at only 86.07%.

Comments We are surprised by the outcome as we had expected a better reception: 1) post the higher revised offer of RM5.50/share (from RM5.30/share); 2) and EPF's (the second largest shareholder) acceptance.

Given that Petronas' takeover bid has now failed, MISC will continue to be listed. However, we suspect that restructuring announcements could be on the cards; especially for the Petroleum and Chemical divisions, as we believe they were the main drivers for Petronas' bid to de-list MISC.

With the failed privatisation bid, we expect MISC's share price to weaken (the stock dropped 2.7% on Friday) as its valuations revert back to the current financial straits of the company.

Although we expect further improvement in FY13 (versus the volatile FY10-12 results), the company will still continue to be hampered by losses at both its Petroleum and Chemical divisions.

Outlook We believe that the shipping industry will continue to face tough times, especially for the Petroleum and Chemical segments, which will likely continue to be hurt by 1) volatile charter rates versus unyielding bunker costs and 2) the imbalance in the demand and supply of vessels.

Forecast Maintained at this juncture, pending further updates in its upcoming 1QFY13 results.

Rating Revert to UNDERPERFORM

Valuation We are reverting to our pre-takeover bid target price of RM4.61/share for now. Nonetheless, we will relook at our target price post 1Q13 results.

Our target price excludes the value of the assets of its Petroleum and Chemical Shipping division as we expect the divisions to remain loss-making in the near future.

However, should these divisions’ financial outlook improve or if MISC can successfully sell of these divisions, there could be an upside boost to our target price as we would need to include their NAVs into our valuation then.

Risks 1) Lower-than-expected charter rates; 2) a higher-than-expected bunker cost; and 3) Inability to pare of loss-making divisions at expected market prices.

Haha!

There might be some interest on AAPL with Cook giving some cookies (pun intended tongue.gif ) to its minority shareholders by talking about share buybacks and 'future' dividends. (how much? rolleyes.gif when they plan to pay ah? rolleyes.gif )

The fruit is LOSING its seductiveness IMO.
The Androids are simply attracting all the buyers.
Even dinasours like Sony and Blackberry taking bold steps with new products and even winning new fans.

What has Apple done?
rolleyes.gif

However, I don't think the product will just mati. tongue.gif
It has managed to build up a nice brand and such global brand won't die overnight.
What I see is lebih kurang the same for AAPL in the next few years unless they make some drastic changes with their phones.

From once an extremely strong growing company with tons of cash, AAPL could turn into a company with lackluster/declining sales with tons of cash.

MISC still has its LNG business.
Market previously discounted it until MISC crash below 4. tongue.gif whistling.gif

Gotta remember apple is not only phones/pads... although that is it's biggest success. It's best products are ability to sell you ordinary ideas... at a premium price. laugh.gif

Not to mention the tons of money in it's account...

But I have not buy yet.. not yet...

Titanic news :-

MISC's 800,000 shares crossed below market price
KUALA LUMPUR: MISC Bhd 's 800,000 shares were traded off-market at RM4.15 each on Wednesday.
According to stock market data, this was 39 sen or 8.59% below Tuesday's closing price of RM4.54.
At 4.15pm, it was down two sen to RM4.52 in regular trade.
MISC had been in focus after Petroliam Nasional Bhd launched a takeover offer for the company. However, the takeover did not get through.
As at last Friday, Petronas secured acceptances which took its stake in MISC to 86%, short of the 90% required to make the RM5.50 a share general offer unconditional.
CIMB Research said many event-driven and short-term funds had recently taken positions in MISC to play the general offer (GO) and it did not expect these shareholders to hold on to their stakes.
It pointed out Petronas would not be able to make another offer for one year. It added it was neutral on shipping overall.
"Prior to the GO, our target price for MISC was RM4.32, which is at a 30% discount to its SOP of RM6.17 to factor in the lack of catalysts to the stock and the depressed tanker cycle.
"As the GO has failed, we will likely reduce our current target price of RM5.30 back to about RM4.32. However, investors should look for a possible aggressive selloff that exposes deep value," it said.

The downtrend in the stock is so unreal.
What is low today could be a high in another month's time.

last month, I read comment on this stock before on a blog.
Currently, it's cash is more than the traded price. rolleyes.gif
When the cash is more than the traded price, that means the stock is free, yes?
The owners should be aware and they should be the ones sweeping up the shares.
Sapu finish, kasi private.

CSL owners did none of that.
Instead, they were seen selling shares at 0.60!

Beside income tax, there are tax paid to local government as well, so it is possible they lump it all together

Looks like you have got your mind set solid on the stock because you see the stock trading at a huge discount over the stock's highest price.
Buy low sell high is what you have been taught.

Yes cash on hand can easily be manipulated.

The biggest giveaway that something is not right is when the owners disposed shares at 60 sen when the company's cash per share is more than 60sen!

The only legal 'tax' they pay is with 'Fa piao'. A lot of transactions is done without 'Fa piao' hence escaping tax. Even dining in resto, we have to request 'Fa piao' when we pay otherwise the bill not claimable... sweat.gif . Interestingly the 'Fa piao' is like lottery.. can scratch to reveal prizes one. Maybe that is how the govt encourage people to demand 'Fa piao'.... I once kena 100 RMB. biggrin.gif

In the US, people also pay income tax to federal & state governments.
This is actually a good thing. Just imagine Malaysia's state governments can roll out projects without asking Putrajaya for money (唔駛睇中央面色)...

Wait for market to cool down on MISC first, probably 6 months later. Since Petronas cannot make another offer in the next 12 months there is no hurry to buy. Just my view.

Someone did mention Mulpha in the previous thread , but I do not know what the story like.

Malton, long time no follow up . sori for that .

In case u know to know Tambun :-

RHB starts Tambun Indah with 'buy'
Publish date: Thu, 25 Apr 11:15 | >> Read article in News website

RHB Research started Penang-based property developer Tambun Indah Land Bhd with a 'buy' call and a fair value of RM1.28 per share, calling it the "top pick" among small caps based on a bright growth outlook.

Tambun Indah's value is underpinned by its strategic anchor landbank, capable management, solid balance sheet and attractive dividend yield, RHB said in a note on Thursday.

"Although the share price has appreciated by 57 per cent, its value will continue to be realised particularly upon the opening of the Penang Second Bridge in September this year," the research house said.

RHB in the note said it estimates "an earnings growth of 23 per cent and 25 per cent for FY13-14."

"Compared to our RM450 million sales forecast for this year, Tambun Indah has already achieved RM176.8 million in the first quarter," RHB added.

Shares of Tambun Indah were up 1.59 per cent while the benchmark index dropped 0.33 per cent.-- Reuters

Not really. Only around 52%. sweat.gif

Oh, but it's a bit tricky to calculate this way. Since I recently adding investment on China/HK stocks. So....if only look at Malaysia stocks, maybe already sold above 60%. smile.gif

Good company with sustainable business and generous dividend paying quarterly. Very nice for long term.
However, at current price at 52 week high, I won't buy now. I am more greedy. biggrin.gif

Local institutions been selling all the way back since the announcement of dissolution of parliament.
Only foreign funds are actively buying.

Somehow these foreign funds will find a time to sell and when they sell the local institution will buy.
When FF sell usually market is at 10-20% discount. biggrin.gif

Haha, it is an individual right to support a political party. So we should respect his decision.
I don't understand why some people will go bash Michelle Yeoh for blatantly supporting BN. People have rights and it is their privilege and rights as a citizen to support any powers. blush.gif

The problem is she ask all voters to support her choice. If she say "my choice is so and so", then no reason for others to say anything. If not, the voters whom you are appealing to have the right to counter yr arguments.

I think the FF will lose their shirts in this coming GE. biggrin.gif

Anyway, the stats from Thailand could be biased towards northern states in the peninsula. This GE 13 key battles are in the southern states and East Malaysia. The central states are also key battle grounds because of the "abnormal" increase in number of phantom voters.

Supermax hit after owner said he supports PR
QUOTE
KUALA LUMPUR (April 29): Shares of SUPERMAX CORPORATION BHD [] were sold down today after its major and
controlling shareholder openly stated that he supports the opposition alliance Pakatan Raykat (PR).
But TOP GLOVE CORPORATION BHD [], its main competitor which produces largely similar range of rubber gloves, became
one of the top gainers today.

“My clients are selling Supermax as they believe Supermax will lose contracts to supply medical gloves to government
hospitals if Barisan Nasional retains power,” said a senior dealer.

“We think Supermax’s losses may be gained by Top Glove. While my clients respect Thai for his bravery to say what we dare
not say, we have to protect our own investments,” he added.

At 4.11 pm, Top Glove – the world’s biggest producer of rubber gloves – soared 31 sen or 5% to RM6.45 per unit on trades of
1.59 million shares. It was still the top gainer in late trades.

But Supermax fell 8 sen or 4% to RM2.00, on 7.8 million shares. The latter was one of the most active and top losers in
morning trades.

Stanley Thai, in an interview with Bloomberg, said he is joining thousands of fellow ethnic Chinese citizens in “abandoning
support for Prime Minister Najib Razak and voting for the opposition for the first time in the May 5 general elections.”
“Why are the Chinese against the government -- it’s simple,” Thai, 53, said in an interview last month, which was posted on
Bloomberg last Friday. Local newspapers carried the report over the weekend.

“We don’t want our children to suffer what we suffered, deprived from education, from career opportunities, from business
opportunities,” Thai said.

Supermax, according to Bloomberg report, is the country’s third-largest medical glove-maker, now exports 24 billion gloves a
year.

“We have been brainwashed from Day 1,” Thai was quoted as saying. “We were born and bred with fear and threats by our own
government.”

In recent years, Thai has been hitting out the government on its policy with regards to the rubber glove sector. He is also seen
expanding his manufacturing plants overseas, to as far as South America.

he better hope BN dont lose laugh.gif

PR will not sabotage what the Company currently enjoying, Malaysia still need to rely on Manufacturing sector, most of our money comes from export businesses

Do watch out Oil & Gas and Palm Oil industry, if PR win it, they going to focus on these 2 sectors.
Regarding Palm Oil Industry, they will focus much more on downstream, encourage company to spend more on R&D, enhance yield. From raw material to end product, this will help to push our country's manufacturing sector.

Glove sector, i think if PR come into power, they will try the best to reduce foreign labor, train more local high skill worker, push glove maker to automation. Relying too much on low skill labor doesn't bring much benefit to the nation since we rely so much of foreign worker.

Palm Oil industry unable to automation, but they will push the Company for R&D, releasing foreign worker permits
Tax incentive wise, i don't think they will give to Upstream, maybe applicable for downstream

It is easy to say on paper, and in theory.
In reality wise, you need various factors and condition to be in place before can push for automation.

For eg.
You want to change the production from highly manual to fully automation, you need skill personnel that can run the automation machine, technician that know how to calibrate, technician the know how to repair when broke down, programmer know how to program PLC or various controlling software, enough supporting service for maintenance of automation (sensor etc)

You cannot simply say want to push automation then already can be done already.

For simple eg. hybrid car on the road.
You can buy hybrid car as same as buying a fully automated production line.
But when breakdown time, nobody know how to repair, most local mechanic do not know how, so the car stranded for long period of time before get fix even for simple faulty parts.
So this can be same for fully automated production line as well.

Some process can be simple in manual, but if want to do with full automation, it can be a tough task and very costly.
For a simple task eg. sweeping or cleaning service in mall or apartment.
Want to reduce this kind of labour force and do automation?

Also with globalisation, business competition is so intense, automation may come with high cost.
If automation is a simply solution, we won't see many factories shifting around the globe to find a footing to reduce cost. We won't see Japan MNC shifting production line to Malaysia, and Japan production remain in Japan if automation can solve the problem.

Must always get a balance right.

It is as same as many said want their kid to be doctor, accountant and high profession field, but when those next generation grow up, who do those low skill job?
Nobody become waiter/waitress in the restaurant, nobody clear garbage, nobody build brick etc. and this is actually happening and one of reason why we need foreign workers as well.
We have a lot of graduate nowadays everywhere, but a lot of industries are screaming short of labour force, and yet graduate complaining hard to find a job.

*
So true. Basically Malaysians don't like doing 3D jobs.
Dirty, Difficult, and Dangerous.
A lot of industries still count on foreign labours to move.

OT abit ...

Get all your family members and friends IC, Please goto this website and print out all the voting certs of all your colleague , friends and relatives, before 12 pm today. they are trying everyway to remove the Chinese voting status, do it first thing in the morning, discuss with your company to let them print for those that have no printer at home. Ask all to bring along the printed cert to vote. If they cannot find your name, show them and ask the present DAP, PKR or PAS members to fight for you. I am not joking. Please DO IT. Please! foward this msg to as many as people as possible. Every vote count, it is now or never. (and make your foreign workers that you suspect already get IC recently to work on that day, dont let them go out)

Seriously this election they are going to be the doom party in BN, having the same fate as Gerakan.

Look at all sort of campaigning they are doing, throwing money and giving out free thing, and yet the response is just so-so, it show how desperate are they now.

Well.. 3:45-4:45pm is the time when the value of April FKLI contracts are decided (average of every 15 seconds, highest 3 and lowest 3 values not included).

Prop up market for 1 hour
Let go and watch market snap back down just before closing...
???
Profit from futures!

--EDIT--

CI didn't drop back after 4:45pm... so i guess this bull is here to stay awhile...

It is never his intention to cheat us. The intention is just to push the price up, so his cronies can sell off or cash out at a higher price.

Asking myself, if X & Y are manipulating the KLCI now (say, for GE13), which counters are they jacking up?

Did a rough check below using data on 2-Jan-2013 and 30 Apr 2013 (KLCI = 1673 and 1718 respectively, 27% increase). Sorry, I did not do this for all the 30 companies (having some problems in getting their data).

Attached Image

Top RM increases are:
UMW
Genting
BAT
PPB
Tenaga

Top % increases are:
UMW 20%
UEM 20%
Genting
Tenaga
RHB

Jump in with the ones with the big increases? rclxub.gif

Or the ones with the big decreases? rclxm9.gif

May consider the latter, provided their fundamentals are still OK and hope they will recover later. Ha.

Cheerio.

Ha.

Cheerio.
Nice work. smile.gif

However, I think the work could be better.

You started by saying 'manipulation'...
Of course, it's possible but I believe when one chooses to focus on such issue, one perhaps is better NOT playing the market.
Why? Market, as suggested, is manipulated.
How do you win in a manipulated market?

Instead.. IF I am as hardworking (which I am not laugh.gif ) , I would add in a very simplistic EPS columns.
After all, paying attention to EPS is like answering 'the provided their fundamentals are OK' issue.

When you add in the EPS, ask yourself if there is justification to the stellar % increase in stocks like UMW and UEM.

If the EPS does not show a strong growth and top % increase stocks like UMW and UEM are flying, then of course we can say the market is rigged badly.
But is this the case?
How's UMW's current EPS performance?
How much EPS growth did it register?
Dare we say UMW share price increase is NOT justifiable?

UMW earnings taken from website.

Attached Image

Now, since UMW and UEM registered strong earnings growth, what is this saying?
Are you paying attention to earnings fundamentals?

I got a proposal idea. the star, been playing sideline one side.

currently, we r incepting a corporate punishment in term of a game plan, to collapse the share and bring it to their knee.

the game play is simple, sell it all down, who rich lower and lower then force the share holder to privatize it at very low petty price.

so to open the field from one monopoly game.. and other paper to the game and put a serious real bring credibility back. icon_idea.gif

what your say?

Boon3,

Noted and thanks.

Sorry for my rockie's attempt at this analysis.

I thought EPS is only available every 3 months and not like price which is available daily, and thus I did not include it in the comparison (on 2 Jan and 30 Apr).

If I read it correctly, last EPS for UMW is lower than the past 3 EPS. Last EPS was in Feb. Maybe in Mar-Apr, it was doing better and thus the better price. Will know in the next quarterly report.

Yes, some companies have very good price - EPS correlations (e.g. Nestle) while for others (e.g. MAS) the relationship is like brownian movement/3rd law of thermodynamic (i.e., random).

Cheerio.

Yes, UMW last quarter EPS is much lower than the previous 3 quarters but since it's the Q4 earnings, many would just look at the earnings as a whole, ie as per fiscal year, in which the market would then compare fiscal year 3012 EPS vs 2011 EPS.
If you do the extra work, you will see an EPS 81.4 sen vs EPS 41.65 EPS.
The EPS for 2012 had improved by a lot.
When you factor in the talks of the possibility of UMW listing its Oil and Gas unit, UMW became one sexy stock.
Your work showed UMW share price increased by 20%.
I feel this share price increase is justifiable and not rigged.

UEM Land.
Here's a handphone screen shot.

Attached Image

UEM Land EPS growth is also impressive.
EPS last fiscal is 10.36 sen vs 7.24 sen the previous year.

I understand the political link of this company but given such a strong impressive earnings and then you add in the current Iskandar factor, where more money is being pumped in and when you add in UEM Land's land bank in Iskandar, I would say the share price increase in UEM Land is also justifiable.

It's very easy to say this and that is rigged but 'sometimes' there are also fundamental reason why these stocks increased so much.

EPS is quite tricky and misleading in land based co like UEM due to large land sales ( one off aka lumpy items ) and same results might not be repeating in future.

They can offload the lands to a joint venture co and hence profit is recognized instantly , as compared to the slow method if they build their own properties in stages for sales.KInda take 2 to years to recognize the profits , much longer than the one off quick method.

Care has to taken to analyse such companies.

Why choose Star while there are over 900 listed company and some with high dividend payout?

Going concern is a major risk for Star for this election, PR will definitely reform the media if they takeover Putrajaya, unless MCA sell off its stake to 3rd party

however, i will only go in AFTER election IF BN wins. lol.

if BN loose, i will stay clear from Star cos it's obvious MCA uses STAR to talk about Vote DAP = Vote PAS. a bit irritating when they do this. Principally, i feel the advertisement concept is wrong. Not saying i support which party btw. lol

well, it really depends who is the boss. If the shareholder (political group) says just publish, does the worker have the rights to say no? if the editor refuse, then shareholder will just employ a new editor.

Either way, we can agree that STAR is politically linked and to buy or not to buy, that just depends on your preference even though the books looks good.

For me, mainstream media's stocks is very vulnerable IF change government. So i would rather wait and see.

PS: i always take the analyst report with a pinch of salt.

well, it really depends who is the boss.

*
Yes, accounting-wise, the stock looks solid. But IF we were to have a change of government, future direction of management and business growth is a big question mark.

And it seems like EPF is also anticipating a Pakatan win...its been selling down its stake on everyday basis.

EPF is like punter. buy low and sell high OR sell until other ppl join to sell and then EPF buy at more lower price. lol. hardly can use them as a gauge who can win or not. that's what i think.

I also monitoring STAR due to CIMB's analyst report.

however, i will only go in AFTER election IF BN wins. lol.

if BN loose, i will stay clear from Star cos it's obvious MCA uses STAR to talk about Vote DAP = Vote PAS. a bit irritating when they do this. Principally, i feel the advertisement concept is wrong. Not saying i support which party btw. lol
*
Why star? I couldn't understand even if Bn wins.

Prior before internet age, I would agree, but now it is a very competitive business to run.
Physical paper cost may go higher due to wages increment, materials price increment, while paper price has tough time to adjust.
Online version, little people want to pay for it. Only can rely on advert.

Star's online version, is a bundled offer.
The offer is RM260 per year and it also includes the physical paper itself delivered.

I wonder why little people want to pay for this offer. wink.gif

Try reading the e-paper on an android/ipad and compare with the online version. http://thestar.com.my/

It's not the same and many times the online site does not publish all the articles.

But mostly also because of the sport news.

Mostly they skip first 10 pages.
