QUOTE(whyteaz @ Jul 15 2013, 11:02 AM) I do read up in notebookreview forum said that dell implement some gpu throttle. Whenever your gpu reach 66 degree, it will reduce your gpu clock speed, hence performance suffered...... Thats something new...for me at least...someone said u can disable it in the bios thou and a lot of AW14 owners complaining the same thing! Throttling is NO GOOD!!! But then again, i played another round of Borderlands 2 last night... It played well till the end... So i m puzzled now! |

QUOTE(whyteaz @ Jul 15 2013, 05:02 PM) that prove the throttling which i mention to you earlier yeah the throttling isnt good at all!bad isnt it? update: when i do stress test under a very cold air-cond room, my gpu temp never reach 58 degree i got constant 901MHz and theres no way to disable GPU Boost! |

QUOTE(xandman @ Jul 16 2013, 08:33 AM) I srsly need some insights from pros here... so it seems this problem is becoz the game is not taxing the GPU enuff for it to boost....my GPU wont even clock to the base clock of 797MHz... even during gaming it stays at 601MHz max... =( weird.... the GPU utilization is 100%! |

QUOTE(n3rd3y3 @ Jul 16 2013, 06:08 PM) Hey, did anyone who experienced throttling due to temp tried EVGA Precision X yet? some users in notebookreview is saying that it can bypass dell throttle limit. u have a link to it?the temp throttle is freaking annoying! i cant get my gpu to go pass 400MHz!! WTF?!!! |

really really really weird.....
now it boost up to 949MHz.... all i did was change the preferred graphics processor to nVidia instead of Auto-select. So now i guess say bye bye to battery! This post has been edited by xandman: Jul 16 2013, 11:00 PM |

QUOTE(n3rd3y3 @ Jul 16 2013, 11:16 PM) Nice. hopefully dell gets its own solution w/o third party app. yeah man. if we need throttling or need better battery life....we would have gotten an Ultrabook! Alienware does not need any throttling QUOTE(whyteaz @ Jul 16 2013, 11:23 PM) yep |
