Are we allowed to claim GST refund at the airport? How much are Aussie tax?
If you spend more than $300 in a single receipt at one store, you can claim back GST from those items when you leave the country. Anything that you want to claim GST back would need to be brought on the plane as carry on luggage so stuff like phones are no problem but big stuff could be a problem.
You can read on the specifics and everything here
http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page4646.aspOther than wine which basically gets charged a WET of 14.5%, to know how much GST is in an item, divide the price of that item by 11 and that's the GST amount. All prices displayed in Australia be it food, electronics etc. have all already included GST.

Bro thank u for the detailed info once again. He will be going to Brisbane. Still wondering if its worthwhile to buy as it seems more expensive than Msia set? I wonder how much it would be after tax refund. N some more no warranty n it will mean AP set. Hai hai. Stupid S4 makes me headache.
Well, only you can decide whether it's worth it or not. Electronic goods are almost always overpriced in Aussie compared to Malaysia, US etc. even with a strong Aussie dollar due to several excuses manufacturers like to give which won't benefit you since you are thinking of bringing that phone to Malaysia.
If he's going to Brisbane, tell him to look for those shops I mentioned at the Brisbane CBD around Queen Street Mall, they are all available there. For example Harvey Norman price is currently $819, after GST refund, would be $744.55.
Try asking him to ask at d*** Smith Electronics, last year the RRP for the S3 was $899 as well but DSE sold it for $745 at launch and JB Hifi sold it for around $789. Both haven't announced S4 pricing.
