they bring in so few stocks only? Wat a disappointment for SME.. owes launch the phone without stock.. dafuk. See why apple can sell so many, becos ppl line up they still got the stock for it, they just wan to create the line up sensation so ppl will follow. Samsung, if wan learn from Apple, plz learn everything and not learn half way. If u say SME OU got 1k pre-order, then no stock, ok fine. If 100 units then no stock, can go fly kite liao.
*
Well you can't expect too much stock when Samsung is releasing the phone in so many markets across the world almost on the same day. Even with foxconn's manufacturing capacity, Apple doesn't launch in the same amount of markets simultaneously and they still experience shortage. On a global scale, I'm sure more stock would be allocated to more important markets like the US or the EU and in most markets, priority will surely be given to carriers.

that's impossible,  Samsung officially announced that  Exynos5  supports 20 bands of LTE  networks but the specifications doesn't state LTE  support?
*
The eyxnos 5 supports being paired with LTE modems that covers the 20 bands. The compability was announced by the division within Samsung that manufactures the chips. They released the statement in response of claims that the exynos quad might not support LTE. When they were asked whether the S4 would support LTE or not, they directed people to ask those questions to Samsung Mobile.

Whether the SOC would be paired with an LTE modem or not is a decision for Samsung Mobile who designed the S4 to make which they have apparently decided not to include in the international exynos powered i9500 S4. They are technically independant of each other. A huge company like Samsung group has many subsidiaries and subdivisions who operate independantly from each other.

It's odd when Maxis who is promoting LTE does not offer LTE version of S4. I don't think stock issues either.
*
Most likely is a stock issue. On a global scale, I'm sure Samsung is prioritising stock for markets like the US, UK, EU, Aussie, New Zealand etc. All of those places are releasing the S4 almost on the same date and between them all, they would have ordered millions of units from Samsung. Samsung has limited capacity to manufacture a set number of units after all.

I still cant brain why msians wanna get LTE. H+ for me good enough. Wait 2-3 years ltr then will consider LTE. More coverage more stable. What big diff between LTE and H+ other than speed?
*
Theoretically, other than the obvious speed bump, LTE should also result in a much lower latency and much better spectrum efficiency

Read from the net that the Korean SGS4 LTE version is the fastest device on planet. Wonder if someone managed to get that unit, can he use it here?

SOS KICAP
*
Well, might be fastest, but won't have that much community support due to limited availability,
Korean version is usually locked but if somebody were able to get an unlocked version, it's quite possible that it'll work with 2G and 3G in Malaysia going by past korean S2 and S3, 4G support would depend on the frequencies.
It'll most likely be the fastest phone in the first half of this year, I'm sure we'll see more powerful phones in the later half of this year equipped with the Snapdragon 800 SOC and even posibly the Tegra 4.

I am in the coverage area but for me H+ is good enough. no? I dont know about most people but I assume most of us use whatsapp, fb, twitter, youtube, candy crush? lol.. And i assume most of us dont dl big data file? Watching youtube on H doesnt give me any pause moment at all so that why i'm asking this. (prefer WIFI to be faster, my mum housing area dont hv maxis fiber internet and phone only get G, dafuq)

I'm just curious anyway. Nothing much.  biggrin.gif
*
Well you don't "need" it, but if you spend lots of time in LTE enabled areas, why not?
I don't need fiber optics, but I want them to make all my internet needs better haha XD
It'll depend on quality of the network and back-haul as well. Where I am, the HSPA+ network is leaps and bounds ahead in terms of latency, stability and average speed of any 3G network I've used in Malaysia even though they use the same technology. Well with the infancy of LTE in Malaysia, I don't really have very high expectations anyway, though hopefully with lesser amounts of people using LTE, better speeds and latency is easily achievable. I like future proofing devices anyway. I sometimes tether my phone to my laptop as well.

If you feel that HSPA+ is good enough for you, then go right ahead =)

QUOTE(eszol @ Apr 24 2013, 05:37 PM)
Non LTE or LTE enable is a choice that people can easily opt out
For me, always buy international version to get good developer support
*
You should note that the international i9505 is the model of the S4 that is likely to receive the most developer support while the international i9500 would be a bit behind most probably.

A lot of developers on xda prefers the snapdragon processor with qualcomm constantly releasing updated drivers etc. while Samsung is very slow and likes to take their time with exynos. Plus a lot of major markets like US, Canada, UK, Aussie, NZ, a number of EU countries etc. is receiving only the i9505. Majority of the galaxy S4 on a global scale for at least the first few months will be the i9505.

Does Msia 4G Phones comes with antenna? My trip to Korea last year I saw plenty of Samsung 4G phones with antenna on the top right corner n they pull it out to watch tv. Or maybe Korea 4G is different from ours?
*
You won't see that in any of the S4 being released in Malaysia. It's a common feature for phones released in South Korea to be customised to include a T-DMB tuner and phones in Japan to include a 1seg tuner. Those are basically types of digital TV transmission and on a global scale are used by very small amount of markets and therefore a waste of space to make standard in most phones released internationally. It'll be useless in Malaysia.

Anyone familiar with Australia mobile phone shops? Got a buddy going over tomorrow, might be asking him to buy me s4 n will reach my hands by next week. Reason is bcoz m in oversea out station n can't wait till June when I head back. Where about can we get in Aussie? Juz any of those Optus / Telstra? Any thing to look out for other than unlock sets? I think only LTE spec is available. Really cannot wait another month as I m using my spare phone (iphone5) now coz I sold off my note2 for this beast.

Are we allowed to claim GST refund at the airport? How much are Aussie tax?
*
If you spend more than $300 in a single receipt at one store, you can claim back GST from those items when you leave the country. Anything that you want to claim GST back would need to be brought on the plane as carry on luggage so stuff like phones are no problem but big stuff could be a problem.
You can read on the specifics and everything here
http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page4646.asp

Other than wine which basically gets charged a WET of 14.5%, to know how much GST is in an item, divide the price of that item by 11 and that's the GST amount. All prices displayed in Australia be it food, electronics etc. have all already included GST.

QUOTE(uniquexme @ Apr 25 2013, 12:51 AM)
Bro thank u for the detailed info once again. He will be going to Brisbane. Still wondering if its worthwhile to buy as it seems more expensive than Msia set? I wonder how much it would be after tax refund. N some more no warranty n it will mean AP set. Hai hai. Stupid S4 makes me headache.
*
Well, only you can decide whether it's worth it or not. Electronic goods are almost always overpriced in Aussie compared to Malaysia, US etc. even with a strong Aussie dollar due to several excuses manufacturers like to give which won't benefit you since you are thinking of bringing that phone to Malaysia.
If he's going to Brisbane, tell him to look for those shops I mentioned at the Brisbane CBD around Queen Street Mall, they are all available there. For example Harvey Norman price is currently $819, after GST refund, would be $744.55.

Try asking him to ask at d*** Smith Electronics, last year the RRP for the S3 was $899 as well but DSE sold it for $745 at launch and JB Hifi sold it for around $789. Both haven't announced S4 pricing.

why so hard to get a i9500 review?
*
Because on a global scale, majority of the world is receiving the snapdragon equiped S4, the i9505 might as well be the base model and all exynos a branch variant lol.

Samsung hasn't released that version in Malaysia, if you want one, you'll have to import it from Singapore or somewhere.

anyone can recommend good brand for 64gb micro sd card? tq
*
Sandisk or Samsung. A lot easier to find Sandisk 64gb micro sdxc cards than the Samsungs and a bit cheaper as well.

QUOTE(amywmy @ Apr 27 2013, 02:32 PM)
sorry if it's a noob question, but why is there only 8+gb left for the internal memory? and not near 16gb?
*
Well first formatted storage is definitely lesser than 16gb, then Samsung already take a lot of space for the operating system and all of their pre-loaded apps.

ok gonna check it out .. btw is it necessary to charge this phone for 8 hours .. and also have u root ur phone smile.gif
*
There's no need. Modern lithium ion batteries doesn't need those long charges, as a matter of fact, they usually have some circuits in them to stop the battery from continue to charge when it becomes full to avoid overcharging. You can use them straight out of the box like you would any other battery that you have been using for a while.

Shocking really. Its 2013 and Samsung launch flagship w no LTE.

iPhone 5, Lumia 920  was launched last year oso got LTE.
*
They launched it in countries with more mature LTE networks with LTE. Malaysia needs to wait a while, or you could import the phone or buy AP.
